Like Jeanne d’Arc or Francesco di Bernardone, Francesco Forgione was one of those unique individuals gifted by God to the human race to assure us of His love, His understanding, and above all else, that He is not deaf to our sufferings and entreaties. But unlike these other great visionary saints, Forgione was not a streak of light which flashed across the firmament and returned quickly to heaven. Saint Joan’s mission lasted about two years before she was martyred at age 19. Saint Francis of Assisi was 45 when he passed to eternity, roughly 20 years elapsing between his call...

The company’s 360 Bed Bath & Beyond locations, along with its 120 buybuy BABY stores, will remain open for now, as will websites. The company secured a $240 million loan to help fund its operations during bankruptcy. But store closing sales will begin Wednesday, and Bed...

If House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) can't cut a deal to cut spending in exchange for raising the debt limit, it could trigger a Greece-like financial collapse, potentially even sparking violence and unrest of a kind not seen in modern America, warns a federal budget expert at the conservative Heritage Foundation. "What we are looking at is a Greek-style debt crisis at some point, meaning decades of lost economic growth," Richard Stern told Just The News this week. The Greek debt crisis began at the start of the Great Recession and dragged on for years, severely shaking confidence in the...

New Haven’s Union Station has no seating for travelers due to reports of bed bugs. It was partially shut down on Monday, but was expected to reopen on Tuesday. The New Haven Parking Authority said it cleaned surfaces on Monday. “Overnight, licensed exterminator and cleaning vendors [were] on site to address the hard scape surfaces and reopen the area to the public in the morning,” the parking authority said. Travelers said they were surprised to find that the seating at Union Station blocked off when they arrived. “Never heard of bed bugs on tile and wood floors ever before,” said...

The White House on Tuesday punted a question on why President Biden won’t set up another meeting with Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) over raising the nation’s debt ceiling instead blaming Republicans for the stalemate. “It’s the Speaker, McCarthy, and the MAGA wing of the Republican party that is doing this, we’re not doing this. They’re the ones who are saying they want to hold the American economy hostage,” press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said when asked if the president risks rattling financial markets if he doesn’t meet with the Speaker. Biden is “saying to House Republicans, you need to do your...

Ron DeSantis could run for president without resigning his post as governor of Florida, according to an election bill amendment filed Tuesday by a Republican state senator. The amendment to the elections bill, SB7050, would clarify qualification requirements for political offices and exempt “Persons seeking the office of President of Vice President of the United States” from state rules that require political office holders to resign their current position in order to qualify as a candidate for another office. The strike-all amendment was filed Tuesday afternoon by state Senator Travis Hutson, a Republican from northeast Florida, whom DeSantis endorsed last...

The federal government is pulling in less tax revenue than expected, prompting concerns the early numbers could leave far less time for Congress to strike a deal to avoid a default on the national debt. Before tax figures started rolling in after last week’s filing deadline, Congress appeared to have until sometime in late July or August to pass legislation to raise or suspend the debt limit. But some experts have warned that a major shortfall in tax revenue means the U.S. government could run out of cash as early as June.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Tuesday had to clarify that President Biden would serve out a full second term if he’s reelected after she initially suggested he had not yet decided whether he would do so. Jean-Pierre held a press briefing hours after Biden officially launched his reelection campaign. The press secretary, who routinely declines to weigh in on questions related to campaigning because of the Hatch Act, largely did not engage with any inquiries about the president’s 2024 bid or his decision to announce it Tuesday.

Newly revealed emails between Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Hunter Biden are raising eyebrows. According to Fox News, the president’s son had a close relationship with Blinken. That included Hunter Biden being hosted at the State Department in 2015. Why is that year important? Because it was right at the peak of Hunter Biden’s foreign escapades, including his stint on the board of Ukrainian gas company Burisma. Secretary of State Antony Blinken held a meeting with Hunter Biden at the State Department in July 2015 when he was serving as the deputy secretary of state in the Obama-Biden administration...

Erosion along Daytona Beach, Florida, caused mainly by two hurricanes last fall, exposed a shipwreck last week that archeologists hope to learn more about, according to reports. FOX 35 in Orlando reported that researchers planned to examine the wreckage Monday, though it is not clear whether inclement weather deterred those plans. The wreck was exposed near Daytona Beach Shores because of beach erosion allegedly caused by hurricanes Ian and Nicole in 2022 and high tides. Aerial footage captured by the station’s SkyFox drone depicts wreckage in the shape of a hull, estimated to be 25 to 30 feet long. FOX...

Kirkpatrick, the director of the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), gave testimony to the US Senate's Committee on Armed Services on 19 April 2023, providing an update on their...

Scientists at ETH Zurich have made progress in creating heavier Schrödinger cats, which can be alive (top) and dead (bottom) at the same time. Credit: Yiwen Chu / ETH Zurich Researchers at ETH Zurich have created the heaviest Schrödinger cat to date by putting a crystal in a superposition of two oscillation states. Their results could lead to more robust quantum bits and help to explain why quantum superpositions are not observed in everyday life. Researchers at ETH Zurich have created the heaviest Schrödinger cat to date. For this, they combined an oscillating crystal with a superconducting circuit. They hope...

A disgraced former White House spokesman could be about to win redemption and a key place in Joe Biden's reelection campaign team. Tyler 'T.J.' Ducklo was forced out of the administration less than a month after Biden took office in 2021 when he threatened to 'destroy' a reporter who asked about his relationship with another journalist. It was an early crisis for Biden who had promised to fire any staffer who treated other people with disrespect.

deSantis did break down the timeline of 'what happened' with Trump during an interview with Fox News' Sean Hannity Monday night where he appeared from Japan during his international trip. 'The last time I interviewed President Trump, I was there in 2018, and I always saw the two of you as friends,' Hannity said. 'And I said to him a very simple question, I asked him, I said, 'What happened?' And I think it's only fair to ask you the same question. What do you think happened?' 'We worked really hard for his reelection in Florida, and I always had...
