In mice with melanoma, probiotic bacteria travel from the gut and establish in tumors, where they directly stimulate immune cells to make cancer immunotherapy more effective, according to a study. The study showed Lactobacillus reuteri stimulates cancer-killing T cells by secreting a compound called indole-3-aldehyde, or I3A. When the researchers gave mice a diet rich in the amino acid tryptophan—which the bacteria convert to I3A—immunotherapy drugs had a stronger effect on restraining tumor size and prolonging survival. Several recent studies have found a link between probiotic supplements and immunotherapy response in melanoma patients. Compared to control mice, those given L....

"That's his way of expressing himself. And it doesn't mean that he's being rude or boisterous or whatever. People need to understand how "we express ourselves." Right on, Don! Just because someone blatantly flouts the House rules, and uses a bullhorn to incite the crowd inside the Tennessee Capitol, it doesn't mean he's being "rude or boisterous" or "whatever." He's just expressing himself! And if you don't understand how "we" express ourselves, you're a racist! Get the rest of the story and view the video here.

A team of neurobiologists has found that mice with lower levels of Fos (short and medium-chain sugar molecules that are indigestible in the body) in their brains tend to be more susceptible to depression related to stress than mice with higher levels of the chemical. In their study, the group stress-tested mice and then tested levels of Fos in their brains. Prior research has shown that people respond to stressful situations in different ways—some shrug them off while others tend to suffer longer-term repercussions. Such scenarios suggest that some forms of depression may have a genetic link. Prior research has...

1 With its current pace of development, artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to replace millions of jobs rather than simply automating specific tasks, according to an executive coaching firm, with the report coming out amid a tightening of the labor market. Chicago-based Challenger Gray asked OpenAI’s popular chatbot, “What jobs can ChatGPT replace?” to which the AI answered with a list. The firm took the list, acquired the numbers of people employed in the specific jobs from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, and added up the information to arrive at 4.8 million—reflecting the number of jobs potentially threatened...

Most gas stations these days have a convenience store attached to them, where you can get a dirty hot dog that has been spinning on steel rollers in a heated compartment for who knows how many days. You can pull that hot dog off the steel rollers with tongs that have not been cleaned since the day the store opened. Underneath are drawers that contain slightly stale rolls that do occasionally get changed out by the 19-year-old clerk who is usually reading a magazine on the counter during slow periods. Which occur often in the dark hours of the night....

In the video of Atkins, who was arrested at his home, he appears stony faced...

"The legal process which has now begun in New York won't just end in Donald Trump being convicted and barred from the [2024] election," Bout said..."Most likely he will simply be eliminated there," he continued. "Therefore, I think it's in the best interests of all of humanity and primarily all of the American people to invite Donald Trump here, to Russia, to give him security and protection here so that he leads this uprising against the globalists and, most importantly, does not allow the elimination of the American people."

Just a third of Americans say President Joe Biden deserves to be reelected, according to a new CNN Poll conducted by SSRS, as a majority in his party say they would like to see someone else as the Democratic nominee for president next year. The survey fielded throughout the month of March and was completed almost entirely before a Manhattan grand jury voted to indict former President Donald Trump last week. It cannot reflect any shifts in public opinion after news of that vote was revealed. CNN polling released Monday, which was conducted after the vote to indict him, suggested...

After two deadly outbreaks of the rare Marburg virus disease in Africa, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is warning US doctors to be on the lookout for patients exhibiting symptoms. In the agency’s health advisory, issued Thursday, officials urged clinicians to be vigilant due to the “potential for imported cases.” There are no reported US cases of the virus, and the risk here is low, the CDC said. Officials recommend doctors assess patients who develop hemorrhagic fevers. MVD can be caused by the Marburg or Ravn viruses, and has appeared this year in two seemingly independent outbreaks in...

A fasting diet which focuses on eating early in the day could be the key to reducing the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Researchers compared two different diets: a time restricted, intermittent fasting diet and a reduced calorie diet to see which one was more beneficial for people who were prone to developing type 2 diabetes. "Following a time restricted, intermittent fasting diet could help lower the chances of developing type 2 diabetes," said Professor Leonie Heilbronn. "People who fasted for three days during the week, only eating between 8am and 12pm on those days, showed a greater tolerance...

Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price has attacked Judge Mark McCannon demanding that he be disqualified from presiding over any criminal case moving forward. In March, McCannon had rejected a 15-year plea deal that was brokered for defendant Delonzo Logwood who was accused of a triple murder. The deal involved Logwood having to plead no contest to a voluntary manslaughter charge for the fatal shooting of 22-year old Eric Ford in 2008. In exchange the two other murder charges against Logwood, the killing of 24-year-old Zaire Washington and 30-year-old Richard Carter, that took place in the same year would be...
