x WHEN DO WE START TO LIVE AND BE HAPPY? We convince ourselves that life will be better after we get married. Then we are frustrated that the kids aren't old enough and we'll be more content when they are. After that we're frustrated we have teenagers with whom to deal. We will certainly be happy when they are out of that stage! We tell ourselves our life will be complete when our spouse gets his or her act together, when we get a nicer car, are able to go on a vacation, when we retire. The truth is,...

On Saturday at noon, the New Mexico House and Senate adjourned from the 2023 Legislative Session. The adjournment meant the death of many anti-gun proposals that would have restricted citizens’ constitutional rights. Only one bill, H.B. 9, mandating the lockup of firearms, passed and was signed by Democrat Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham. The dead gun-grabbing legislation includes S.B. 44 banning citizens from carrying a firearm within 100 feet of a polling place during an election, S.B. 428 targeting firearm retailers and manufacturers with frivolous lawsuits, H.B. 100 banning most firearms over 10-round capacity, and H.B. 101 mandating a 14-day waiting...

Climate bills in the Oregon legislature are being criticized for potential devastation of rural communities and could possibly fuel further inflation. One of the bills titled House Bill 3158, the "Clean Diesel Engine Tax" would add new taxes to off-road machinery, such as that used in farming and logging. The Oregon Farm Bureau (OFB) came out against this bill, pointing out that it would tax virtually every piece of equipment that's used in agriculture, plus the fuel and tires that are also necessary for its use. The OFB added that this bill would put the burden on rural businesses with...

For many believers, sinking to the bottom means the end. They become so overwhelmed by their failures that they develop a sense of unworthiness. Over time, they feel trapped beyond any help. Isaiah wrote of such believers, “Afflicted city, lashed by storms and not comforted…” (Isaiah 54:11 NKJV). Some eventually get mad at God. They grow tired of waiting for him to move, so they cry accusingly, “Lord, where were you when I needed you? I cried out to you for deliverance, but you never answered. I’ve done everything I know to do, yet I’m still not free. I’m tired...

@unusual_whales Biden’s new budget includes a new minimum tax on wealthy individuals’ unrealized capital gains, a quadrupled tax on stock buybacks and higher Medicare taxes on people making over $400,000. Shibetoshi Nakamoto Replying to @unusual_whales taxing unrealized gains -> everyone sells everything -> economy collapses @ElonMusk True @PeterSchiff It's also unconstitutional, as unrealized gains do not meet the constitutional definition of income. Such a tax would be a direct tax on property and would therefore need to be apportioned by state according to its population. That won't happen.
