An “intersexual” suspect from Arkansas, who identifies as a woman, was arrested after allegedly making bomb threats against a college town in neighboring Mississippi. Officers with the Oxford Police Department in Mississippi received reports on Jan. 31 that Lily Mestemacher, 29, allegedly threatened to bomb an area in the town, according to a press release from the department that used feminine pronouns. The Berkeley Township Police Department is mourning the loss of Sgt. William Cullen. The former US Marine was a 22-year member of the Berkeley Township PD, and died "suddenly," his department announced Friday, Feb. 17. Cullen began in the patrol division before he was reassigned to the detective bureau in 2007. His duties included general investigations, property and evidence, and Megans Law. California wildlife experts recently confirmed that an adult bobcat died from highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1, marking the first detection of the virus in a wild mammal in the state. The bobcat's remains were collected in Butte County and tested for the disease. It was wearing a GPS collar as part of a study by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. Fire at famed Carmel Halloween houseA home with some notoriety on the Central Coast was the scene of a house fire Saturday. Firefighters responded to the house fire on Willow Place in the Mission Fields neighborhood of Carmel Saturday afternoon. No people were hurt in the fire however one pet cat was burned and underwent treatment at a local emergency veterinarian. Authorities in Santa Cruz county busted a cockfighting operation Thursday morning. Santa Cruz County Animal Control Officers and the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office served a search warrant on a property on Ranport Road in Watsonville early Thursday morning. During the search, about 200 chickens – both roosters and hens – were seized. There were also dozens of cages, cockfighting weapons, and a ring on the property, typically used for fights.
