WASHINGTON — Over a hundred migrants arrived near Vice President Kamala Harris’s home on Saturday evening, one of the chilliest Christmas Eves on record in the capital, according to a mutual aid group. Volunteers anticipated three buses with about 130 immigrants to arrive in New York on Christmas Day, but the buses were rerouted to the Washington area because of road closures and frigid conditions, said Madhvi Bahl, an organizer with the Migrant Solidarity Mutual Aid Network. Migrants arrived in Washington after a 36-hour journey, some with little more than a T-shirt or a light blanket, Ms. Bahl added. The...

Bill Gates sold West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin on this year’s Democratic climate spending blowout as a way to put unemployed coal workers to work building advanced nuclear reactors. Now we learn, belatedly, that these projects depend on Russia for fuel and will cost taxpayers more than advertised. The Energy Department last year awarded up to $2 billion for an advanced nuclear reactor “demonstration” project in Wyoming being developed by TerraPower, a company Mr. Gates founded. These advanced reactors have been promoted because they take up significantly less space than conventional reactors and could theoretically use reprocessed nuclear fuel. TerraPower’s...

On Dec. 17, 2022, it was reported that Rep. David Cicilline, a Democrat from Rhode Island, has introduced legislation to permanently bar former Pres. Trump from running for president again, and 40 Democrats have signed on. Cicilline is accusing Trump of orchestrating an insurrection on Jan. 6, 2021. At the time of this writing, it is debatable as to whether Cicilline’s legislation will get voted on before the new Congress takes office in 2023, but some conservatives have said from the beginning that the main purpose of the Jan. 6 fake show-trial was to stop Trump from being elected again....

Over the holiday break, White House economic officials are expected to brief President Joe Biden on their priorities for the coming year. They are considering a push for more employee benefits to bring people back to the workforce, The Wall Street Journal reported Dec. 21. "Where are places where we can lower price pressures in the economy, lower costs for consumers and increase the productive potential of the economy? The things that we will prioritize and focus on will be in that area," Brian Deese, the director of the White House's National Economic Council, told the Journal. Mr. Deese did...

Even Fagerbakke can take on a new challenge, especially if it's with the character he's provided the voice for over the past 22 years. Come Christmas Day, Fagerbakke and "Patrick" will be in a new element. Patrick will be providing live...

People who continuously enrolled in program during Covid-19 pandemic face eligibility verification .. —Millions of people are poised to lose Medicaid coverage after the recently enacted omnibus spending bill changed the healthcare program’s enrollment rules, and congressional Democrats and the Biden administration are working to steer eligible people to other types of coverage. The coverage losses are expected because states that received extra Medicaid funding under a 2020 Covid-19 relief bill had to agree to pause beneficiaries’ eligibility verifications. The continuous enrollment in the state-federal program for the low-income and disabled was set to end when the health emergency is...

"Danny Haiphong: For the last several weeks there has been this intense battle in the city of Bahkmut and the western mainstream media has been kind of sounding the alarm a bit. You've had places like the Guardian, the New York Times talk about how Ukraine has been using artillery and all kinds of weapons at alarming rates to the point where it seems like they are admitting that Ukraine is outgunned here. What is your assessment of the situation right now on the ground in Bahkmut and going forward as we enter this winter phase of this proxy war...

Saxo Bank’s “outrageous predictions” for 2023 include a ban on meat production, skyrocketing gold prices and Britain voting to “un-Brexit.” The Danish bank’s annual report, published earlier this month, expects global economies to shift into “war economy” mode, “where sovereign economic gains and self-reliance trump globalisation.” The forecasts, while not representative of the bank’s official views, looked at how decisions from policymakers next year could impact both the global economy and the political agenda. Gold to hit $3,000Among the bank’s “outrageous” calls for next year, Saxo Head of Commodity Strategy Ole Hansen predicted the price of spot gold could exceed...

Host of the “WokeAF”podcast Danielle Moodie-Mills said Saturday on MSNBC’s “Symone” that if former President Donald Trump is not indicted, it will turn the United States into a “banana republic.” Moodie-Mills said “I think what we saw from the bipartisan January 6 House Committee is, in fact, a thorough investigation and using Trump’s own people, in their own words, to lay out exactly the fact that, guess what, this was not just an act of happenstance, of people gettin caught up in the moment, that this was a plan, a strategic attack on our Capitol building and our democracy directed...

-Moscow is ready to resume gas supplies to Europe through the Yamal-Europe Pipeline, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak told state TASS news agency. "The European market remains relevant, as the gas shortage persists, and we have every opportunity to resume supplies," TASS cited Novak as saying in remarks published by the agency on Sunday. "For example, the Yamal-Europe Pipeline, which was stopped for political reasons, remains unused." The Yamal-Europe Pipeline usually flows westward, but has been mostly reversed since December of 2021 as Poland turned away from buying from Russia in favour of drawing on stored gas in Germany.

I am pretty technical, and I have performed troubleshooting for some time in multiple industries and with multiple technologies. One of my first rules for troubleshooting any problem is scope. What is the scope of the problem? To really understand the scope, you must have clarity on the problem. Maricopa County has now admitted there was an issue or issues on election day 2022, and they are undertaking a root cause analysis. The question I did not hear is: a root cause analysis of what problem(s)? Given the admission of issues, I will frame my problem statement this way: Were...

On Christmas Eve, most people are probably focused on Christmas. But not Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), who can’t seem to stop embarrassing himself with his Twitter rants. But this time, his tweets exposed just how empty and partisan the Jan. 6 Committee’s “investigation” has been. He did that as he tried to attack Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA).Ignoring her actual role in fomenting it, she obviously didn’t read the report. Side note: The only person with the ability to deploy the DC Guard? The President and Secretary of the Army. Not the mayor, not the speaker. https://t.co/KcOtLzkbzH— Adam Kinzinger #fella...
