Millions Poised to Move Off Medicaid After Omnibus Bill Passage

People who continuously enrolled in program during Covid-19 pandemic face eligibility verification

..

—Millions of people are poised to lose Medicaid coverage after the recently enacted omnibus spending bill changed the healthcare program’s enrollment rules, and congressional Democrats and the Biden administration are working to steer eligible people to other types of coverage.

The coverage losses are expected because states that received extra Medicaid funding under a 2020 Covid-19 relief bill had to agree to pause beneficiaries’ eligibility verifications. The continuous enrollment in the state-federal program for the low-income and disabled was set to end when the health emergency is over, likely sometime in 2023.

Haven’t read the article, but Medicaid and Medicare are 2 different animals.

You should reread the article that you posted here.
“Medicare” and “Medicaid” are two different things.

Yep. And in this case it goes back to eligibility requirements being stopped during the Covid emergency. Now that there isn’t one of those, eligibility goes back into effect. Translation: free lunch is over.

“Poised to move off” Medicaid.

Makes it sound like millions of people ready, willing and able to move off that thing. “Let’s go!” they say. “Let’s make it happen!” “Boy, I am poised! Ready to move off!”

In other words, the Rats snookered the Republicans with a promise of Medicaid savings, but instead, will just make an end-run around the bill.

This will force people to go back to Obama Care and have to pay for a policy and it will be pricey. Unless you get the Bronze policy and that is a very high deductible deal but with a zero Premium.

20% of the country is on Medicaid. It’s the biggest pork program in the history of mankind.

Medicaid not MediCare. These millions should have never been on any US program.

Obamacare is a huge welfare project. Look up the income limits for your state. You may be surprised at how easy it is to get a subsidized plan. You do not need to be living in poverty to get “free” health insurance from the ACA. You don’t even need to have low income. They raised the income cutoff for COVID-19 of course.

They’re screwing over the illegal aliens they invited here with offers of free healthcare ...

I see we are in agreement. The ACA and Medicaid are enormous entitlements. Look. I don’t know of many people who want to cut off the truly disabled. If you’re a paraplegic for example, I’m sure nearly everyone would want the state to provide care. We are unfortunately way, way past that.

Even worse, the politicians want to group Tricare, Medicare, and Medicaid/ACA into one big plan, even though there’s a huge difference between earning and paying into a system versus getting a free ride.

MedicAID is known as free, cadillac style health insurance for the bums here in NYS. MedicARE not so much.

Depends. You can have a HD Bronze plan and still pay premiums.

This article says Medicaid, not Medicare. That said there are Medicare recipients also getting Medicaid.
