No matter how much Democrats and the Biden administration might be hoping for it, the Tara Reade story isn’t going away. The woman who served as an aide in Biden’s Senate office in the early 1990s caused a crisis in then-candidate Joe Biden’s campaign when she went public with the explosive allegation that he had sexually assaulted her in a Capitol hallway in 1993. It was the most serious in a string of accusations against Biden by women speaking out in the election year, and one Democrats had no doubt hoped would disappear after the votes were counted. But it...

A new research paper titled "Combined epigenetic and immunotherapy for blastic and classical mantle cell lymphoma" has been published in Oncotarget. Classical MCL (cMCL) constitutes 6-8% of all B cell non-Hodgkins lymphoma (NHL). Despite recent advances, MCL is incurable except with allogeneic stem cell transplant. Blastic mantle cell lymphoma (bMCL) is a rarer subtype of cMCL associated with an aggressive clinical course and poor treatment response, frequent relapse and poor outcomes. In this new study, researchers treated 13 bMCL patients with combined epigenetic and immunotherapy treatment consisting of vorinostat, cladribine and rituximab (SCR). "We report an increased OS [overall survival]...

Research reveals a major treatment advance for adults with newly diagnosed B lineage acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). The randomized study evaluated blinatumomab immunotherapy in patients with a good prognosis after an initial round of chemotherapy. After about 3.5 years of follow-up, 83% of the patients who went on to receive additional standard consolidation chemotherapy plus experimental blinatumomab were alive versus 65% of those who received chemotherapy only. Current treatments for newly-diagnosed ALL frequently lead to remission. Still, unfortunately, relapses often occur in patients, leading to poor survival rates even in those with no measurable residual disease (MRD) after induction chemotherapy....

California scientists announced a breakthrough that could commercialize nuclear fusion in a few decades, but a Vancouver-based company has a method that claims to power homes with the technology by the early 2030s. Unlike at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, which used lasers to achieve net gain energy, General Fusion compresses hydrogen plasma inside a large cylinder to increase density and temperature. General Fusion's method uses high-powered pistons to squeeze liquid metal around the plasma to build pressure until the mixture hits 180 million degrees Fahrenheit - and fusion occurs. The firm says it plans to have its first commercial power...

Black women with symptoms of depression more often report sleep disturbances, self-criticism, and irritability than stereotypical symptoms such as depressed mood, according to a new study. "Based on our findings, it's possible that health care providers may miss depression symptoms in Black women, resulting in underdiagnosis and undertreatment," said Nicole Perez, Ph.D., RN. Depression is diagnosed based on symptoms that patients report during an evaluation by a health provider. Common symptoms include low mood, loss of interest in activities, changes in appetite or sleep, and feelings of hopelessness or worthlessness. But symptoms of depression can vary from one person to...

Having been arrested the previous day in the Bahamas, the star of the show, Sam Bankman-Fried, was unable to attend Tuesday’s House Financial Services Committee hearing on the stunning collapse of FTX. But as they say, the show, presided over by the petulant and uber entitled committee chair, Rep. Maxine Waters, went on. The congresswoman from California has grown accustomed to having her own way in the Democratic-controlled Congress and was clearly not pleased when Texas Rep. Lance Gooden, a Republican, challenged her authority. Waters tried to end the hearing before Gooden was allowed to question the witness, current FTX...

Twenty percent of the Spanish population suffers from chronic pain, and between 7 and 10% from neuropathic pain. We naturally think of our Founding Fathers as the heirs of the early settlers – those courageous men and women whose grandparents and great grandparents had come from England, Scotland, or Holland, fleeing religious persecution as Christians of a different denomination than the ruling class, or seeking freedom and opportunity in a new land. And many certainly were. But some of our Founding Fathers – some of the greatest heroes, in fact – were foreigners who heard about our cause and felt it in their hearts. New arrivals, from Europe or the Caribbean, who heard of the American independence movement...

Of course most of us have never heard of this case but it is huge, The historic significance of Brunson v Adams ranks with the signing of the Declaration of Independence. I say this with no fear of contradiction as every aspect of this case bears on whether our Constitutionthat supports the very freedoms that we enjoy and that make us different from third world dictatorships. Brunson v Adams is THAT important. This case is at once scary, because the stakes involved are as high as we can go; and encouraging because the Court has accepted it, and the significance...

For at least a half-century now, every special pleader in America has made the following argument: Yeah, but what if we were black? This is supposed to be rhetorical kryptonite, capable of anathematizing "discrimination" against any group: atheists, women, gays, immigrants, illegal immigrants, the disabled, Muslims -- basically anyone except a fully abled, cis-gendered, white male born in this country.Oh my gosh! You're right -- we DO have to let girls try out for the Green Bay Packers!OK, fine, we'll hire more blind lifeguards.Of course, Shadi Abdullah is welcome to be president of our campus Hillel group.Naturally, the "What if they...
