A few days ago a youth opened fire with an AR-15 in a gay nightclub called Club Q in Colorado Springs, killing five and wounding 25. The shooter was subdued in the club and eventually arrested. The War in Ukraine has proven disastrous for Europe's dwindling energy supply. Now that Europe has lost its primary source of natural gas - Russia - they're paying up to 10x market price to replace that lost supply. So what can Europe do? First, hope that they have one of the warmest winters on record. After that, they only have two (equally detrimental) options. 1 - continue sourcing natural gas from spot markets or 2 - remove the demand for natural gas. Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly is announcing new sanctions on Belarus Tuesday in response to its support for Russia’s war on Ukraine. Joly says in a statement that Belarusian leadership is enabling human-rights violations and allowing the country to serve as a launching pad for Russia’s attacks. Canada is adding 22 Belarusian officials to the sanctions list, including people who are involved in the stationing and transport of Russian military personnel and equipment.
