It seems the strong consumer demand born out of a stay-at-home stimulus-laden pandemic environment is continuing into the end of 2022, and probably 2023 as Federal Reserve data issued Tuesday shows a sharp rise in household debt during the third quarter. What happened: Due to significant increases in credit card usage and mortgage balances, American households increased their debt at the fastest rate in 15 years. Total debt increased by $351 billion for the period of July to September, the largest nominal quarterly increase in 2007, suggesting that the "excess savings" the Fed believed Americans possess has already been spent....

US mortgage rates fell last week by the most since the end of July, slipping below 7% and helping generate a bounce in purchase applications that otherwise remain depressed, but only in the Seasonally Adjusted data. The NON-Seasonally Adjusted data show a hefty decline. The contract rate on a 30-year fixed mortgage decreased 24 basis points to 6.9% in the week ended Nov. 11, according to Mortgage Bankers Association data released Wednesday. The group’s index of applications to buy a home rose 4.4% — the most since June — but is still near the weakest level since 2015. But the...

The Fourth Phase: Persecution? By Dr. Peter JonesIn a perceptive article on the recent history of Evangelicalism in America (which I recommend),[1] Aaron Renn, a writer for First Things, confirms something I have been thinking for some time: politics has become religious. It is thus difficult to speak out about traditional moral behavior without being “cancelled” or charged with being a Christian nationalist—by people who doubtless plan on making America a pagan nation! In other words, contemporary progressivism and biblical faith now occupy many areas of common ground. How has this come about? Renn describes three recent distinct phases of...

One FTX executive vomited when he learned that the crypto exchange was missing billions of dollars of customer money. A company lawyer quit via a harsh text message to then-Chief Executive Sam Bankman-Fried. A top salesman who had bet big on FTX equity saw most of his wealth evaporate overnight. What started as a dream job turned into a nightmare for employees of FTX. The Wall Street Journal spoke to more than a dozen current and former employees, many of whom said they were shocked by the alleged misuse of customer funds. For its roughly 300 staffers, FTX seemed like...

Toe-curling footage has emerged of Chinese President Xi Jinping humiliating Justin Trudeau with a dressing down on the sidelines of the G20 conference. The two leaders were caught on camera having a heated discussion at the global summit in Bali today, with Xi tearing into the Canadian Prime Minister. Xi appeared visibly frustrated as he confronted Trudeau about how details of an earlier meeting between them, which was held yesterday, had been leaked to the press by Canadian government sources. The source had told the media that Trudeau had raised 'serious concerns' over suspected domestic interference by China during his...

This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Small arms, ATGMs, MANPADS, loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles, trailers and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When the...

The Dangers of the Biden Pandemic PlanWhat if the coronavirus pandemic was not a once-in-a-century event but the beginning of a new era of regular deadly respiratory viral pandemics? The Biden administration is already planning for this future. Two weeks ago, it unveiled a national strategy to develop pharmaceutical firms’ capacity to create vaccines within 130 days of a pandemic emergency declaration. The Biden plan enshrines former president Donald Trump‘s Operation Warp Speed as the model response to the next century of pandemics. Left unsaid is that, for the new pandemic plan to work as envisioned, it will require us to...

The 35-year-old who lives on the property where investigators believe the boy’s remains may be buried. It is just a few minutes’ walk from his family’s home. Police investigated...

President Donald J. Trump outlined his “National Greatness Agenda” for supporters at Mar-a-Lago Tuesday night as he announced the official launch of his 2024 presidential campaign. Notably, one of the key issues he highlighted was election integrity.“We will do whatever it takes to bring back honesty, confidence, and trust in our elections,” Trump declared. “To eliminate cheating, I will immediately demand voter ID, same-day voting, and only paper ballots. … And we want all votes counted by election night.”BREAKING: President Donald J. Rebecca Kirszner Katz, adviser to Sen.-elect John Fetterman, argued on Twitter that reporters’ traditional method of "yelling questions" at senators in the hallways "will not work" with the Democratic Pennsylvania politician. Her comment came following a Tuesday tweet from HuffPost senior politics reporter Igor Bobic, who mentioned that Fetterman did not respond to a question as they passed each other. "Spotted in Senate basement: John Fetterman. He didn’t answer when I asked if he’ll be able to wear his hoodie on Senate floor." Bobic tweeted. Katz later responded to Bobic’s question and also added the act of "yelling questions at...

Georgia Democrats on Tuesday filed a lawsuit to open up early voting for the Senate runoff election over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, despite a state law that prohibits voting within two days of a holiday. Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announced last week that the runoff election between incumbent Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock and Republican challenger Herschel Walker would be held on Dec. 6. With 99% of precincts reporting, Warnock had 49.4% of the vote and Walker had 48.5%, meaning neither candidate cleared the state's 50% requirement to secure the seat without a runoff. When the Senate runoff was...

Former Rep. Justin Amash (Mich.) has offered to serve as a “nonpartisan” Speaker of the House if Republicans and Democrats cannot agree on a candidate from either party to fill the post. The offer from Amash, a former Republican-turned-Libertarian lawmaker, comes as House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) faces opposition from some members of his party, complicating his Speakership bid. “If neither party has the votes to elect a speaker of the House, I’d be happy to serve as a nonpartisan speaker who ensures the institution works as it’s supposed to—a place where all ideas are welcome and where outcomes...

I have written and deleted a thousand words, repeatedly, in an effort to encapsulate what this moment means to me, and perhaps to others. However, when you boil the essence of the thing down to its important part, you are left with a question: Which American politician loves this country more than Donald John Trump? The honest answer is ‘no one’. There’s not a force of man or nature as strong in its devotion to a mission, as Donald Trump is to this nation. That’s the core, the heart, the genuine essence of the thing, that separates President Trump from...

The largest liberal dark money network in the United States hauled in over $1.5 billion from anonymous donors in 2021, tax records show. Arabella Advisors is a consulting firm based in Washington, D.C., that oversees five nonprofit groups bankrolling left-wing causes. The network, which has been dubbed a dark money giant due to its complex arrangement that allows donors to be shielded from the public eye, also spent almost $1 billion combined in 2021, according to the newly released tax documents for the network groups. “These latest tax returns prove that the Arabella Advisors network remains the largest dark money...
