The editorial board is a group of opinion journalists whose views are informed by expertise, research, debate and certain longstanding values. It is separate from the newsroom. The race for the governor of New York is unusually close this fall. That probably reflects the frustrations of many voters in the state: Like millions of other Americans, New Yorkers are living with sharply higher costs for housing, food and fuel; higher rates of crime; an unsteady economy; and schools where teachers and students are struggling to overcome two years of learning loss. A total of 71,623 people in New York have...

Pray For The Peace of JerusalemMatthew 8 Jesus Heals a Man With Leprosy 8 When Jesus came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him. 2 A man with leprosy[a] came and knelt before him and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” 3 Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy. 4 Then Jesus said to him, “See that you don’t tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift Moses commanded, as a testimony to...

Statistics reported by Move PGH, a year into its two-year pilot, are encouraging: People have taken more than 576,000 scooter trips for a total of hundreds of thousands of miles. They have biked tens of thousands of miles, and ridden Scoobi mopeds for more than 14,000 miles. Experience has dispelled Initial fears about...

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — For the second time in about a month, a lawsuit challenging Florida’s so-called “don’t say gay” legislation restricting teaching on gender identity and sexual orientation in schools has been dismissed by a federal judge. U.S. District Judge Wendy Berger in Orlando on Thursday dismissed a lawsuit brought by LGBTQ students, parents and their families — as well as several civil rights groups — and refused their request for a preliminary injunction to stop the law from being implemented. The judge gave the plaintiffs until Nov. 3 to file an amended lawsuit if they desired. The lawsuit...

Back in the days of Barack Obama, he handed out billions of dollars to solar and wind power projects. The Chicago Tribune noted that just one of them, the "Solyndra scandal," cost taxpayers at least half a billion dollars. That solar panel company got $535 million from the government, "with the help of the Obama White House," over objections from federal budget experts. "Obama and Vice President Joe Biden got a nice photo op. They got to make speeches about being 'green.' But then Solyndra went bankrupt. Americans lost jobs. Taxpayers got stuck with the bill." Now, it seems Biden...

Liberal Justice Elena Kagan on Friday expressed hope that her colleagues on the conservative-dominated U.S. Supreme Court could get back to finding "common ground," saying it risked looking political by continuing to overturn legal precedents. Speaking at an event at the University of Pennsylvania, Kagan did not explicitly reference the Supreme Court's decision in June to overturn the landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling that legalized abortion nationwide. But Kagan, who dissented from that decision powered by the court's conservative majority, argued that judges and justices should be "humble" and respect past precedents interpreting laws and rights that people build...

Just yesterday, former Trump adviser and campaign strategist Steve Bannon was sentenced to four months in jail following his conviction on two counts of criminal contempt of Congress. Bannon was ordered to pay a fine of $6,500. Bannon was subpoenaed by the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 incident for records and testimony in September of last year. However, Bannon defied a subpoena and refused to comply with the House committee. Biden’s Justice Department recommended that Bannon serve six months behind bars and pay a $200,000 fine. Federal district court Judge Carl Nichols who rendered his judgment, said Bannon...

I was disowned by three close members of my family — two without explanation — and the pain of unbearable loss prompted my research. Hopefully, I can provide some understanding to many who are also experiencing this unusual attack on family and friends. As early as 578 B.C., the legendary philosopher Pythagoras wrote in his Rules of Conduct, Honor thy parents and thy nearest kin: Of other make the virtuous thy friend: Yield to his gently words, his timely acts; Nor for a petty fault take back thy love[.] (Runes, Dagobert, A Treasury of Philosophy, 1973)For at least 2,600 years,...

(Posted as vanity as not yet a news story) Abstract To prevent future pandemics, it is important that we understand whether SARS-CoV-2 spilled over directly from animals to people, or indirectly in a laboratory accident. The genome of SARS- COV-2 contains a peculiar pattern of unique restriction endonuclease recognition sites allowing efficient dis- and re-assembly of the viral genome characteristic of synthetic viruses. Here, we report the likelihood of observing such a pattern in coronaviruses with no history of bioengineering. We find that SARS-CoV-2 is an anomaly, more likely a product of synthetic genome assembly than natural evolution. The restriction...

For the past thirteen months, Marco Polo—a nonprofit research group comprised of six men from across the U.S. dedicated to exposing corruption and blackmail—has been writing a comprehensive Report on the Biden Laptop and the crimes thereon. Our motives and budget were transparent; thousands of Americans financed its production. We neither sought nor received any institutional/corporate backing. We were delayed for various reasons, but finished the dossier for 35k under budget. At long last, the Report is complete. It has been sent to members of the U.S. House & U.S. Senate, U.S. attorneys for the jurisdictions in which the Bidens...

Putin's troops moaned that they have been issued with plastic paintball masks, children's gloves and rubber boots to fight in Ukraine. Footage taken in Stavropol region in southern Russia reveals a man complaining about the pitiful resources he has for fighting, showing his paintball mask. The man said: 'Thank you for these warm gifts for mobilised fighters. The clips are more examples of the chaos that has ensued amid the scramble to mobilise Russian men after Putin's conscription order on September 21. Scores of men have headed to the frontline in the last few weeks hugely under-equipped and under-prepared. It...

The Jackson County, Missouri, Prosecutor's Office announced Tuesday that it will not be filing charges in the shooting death of an off-duty Kansas City, Missouri, firefighter at an Independence gas station. Anthony Santi, 41, was off duty on Oct. 6 and was at a convenience store in Independence when witnesses said Santi heard a man disrespect a female cashier inside the store. Santi reportedly stood up for the woman. Police say 23-year-old Ja'von Taylor became agitated and went outside to retrieve a gun from his car. I just bought a new Wisephone from Techless. Seems nice, but when attempting to get it set up, I followed the carrier's instructions and deleted the factory default Access Point Names (APN). Now, it won't connect at all. The carrier was useless and Techless support won't be available until Monday. I really need to get it activated before then, so ..... I know this is a long shot, but if anyone has a Wisephone, could you please share the list of the APNs?

A concerned FOX26 viewer reported some mail, including multiple voting ballots left in a field in West Fresno. According to the viewer, several mailboxes have been recently broken into. The mail found could possibly be what was taken from the mailboxes near Ashlan and Polk Avenues. The viewer reported the incident to the Fresno Police Department, they advised her to drop them off with a local carrier or USPS. While there, our FOX26 photojournalist collected the mail and hand it over to a mail carrier, including all 11 ballots left behind.

The data says millennials don't lack work ethic, but they'll never be able to afford what other generations take for granted. The popular millennial copypasta goes something like this: First experience with serious job hunting comes on the heels of the 2008 financial crisis Can't take advantage of correction in home prices because too young to have made any money, and wage growth stagnates anyway Homes rocket to new highs, no chance of catching up now by just working a 9-5 like your parents Late 20s/early 30s, try investing as it's your last chance to make it Get obliterated again...
