The Jackson County, Missouri, Prosecutor's Office announced Tuesday that it will not be filing charges in the shooting death of an off-duty Kansas City, Missouri, firefighter at an Independence gas station.
Anthony Santi, 41, was off duty on Oct. 6 and was at a convenience store in Independence when witnesses said Santi heard a man disrespect a female cashier inside the store.
Santi reportedly stood up for the woman.
Police say 23-year-old Ja'von Taylor became agitated and went outside to retrieve a gun from his car. Police say there was a fight between the two men inside the store over the weapon.
They also say the woman who was with Taylor at one point gets the gun and then fires the fatal shot killing Santi.
Taylor faces federal felony charges for possession of a firearm. However, the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office announced Tuesday that it will not be seeking additional charges against Taylor, or against the woman who allegedly fired the fatal shot, citing self-defense.
In a statement, the prosecutor's office said, "We grieve with the family and community over this tragic loss of life of Mr. Santi.
"Missouri law governs this case, specifically self-defense and defense of others, leading us to decline charges after a careful review."
The woman involved was released from custody last week pending a review from the prosecutor's office.
Ja'von Taylor was disrespecting a convenience store clerk when Santi, an off-duty firefighter, stood up for her. This angered Taylor who went to his car and got a gun. A gun he shouldn't have had because he's a career felon.
Santi and Taylor wrestled as Santi attempted to disarm Taylor.
Taylor's girlfriend grabs another gun and shoots Santi in the back, killing him.
Kansas City declines to press charges citing "Stand your ground".
The moral of the story is, in today's dystopian America, do not try to disarm black criminals. Their friends are allowed to shoot you to protect them.
The Jackson County Prosecutor needs to be tried, convicted, and sentenced as an accessory to 1st degree murder after the fact. Missouri has the death penalty, which should be used.
This story is heartbreaking…..but the liberals have put enough corrupt officials in place all through our land…..that this is the verdict we have come to expect!
It appears the girlfriend took Taylor's gun and used it to kill Santi.
The Demoncrats and Soros Acolytes are turning this Country into Anarchy.
I don’t care about the girl friend. Career felon Ja’von introduced the weapon to the scene. He’s the one that should be prosecuted for murder.
Joggers are protected species.
Pity their houses burn down with them in it duck taped to an immovable object.
If this was the other way around, a black being killed by a white and they declined to press charges the DOJ would have brought federal civil rights violation charges against the white within seconds.
I smell George Soros!
No...both...death penalty!
Open season on whites by your friendly elected offcials

The real message is, if you are white you must let blacks do whatever they want, whenever they want, and to whomever they want. You have absolutely no right to challenge them.
My guess is when you see the video from inside the store, it will shed more light on this story.
But, it does show how the world has devolved to the point where shouting disagreements are now resolved with guns.
That’s some messed up thinking
One sad truth to come out of this story is that it’s not John Wayne’s America anymore. A stern admonition from a solid individual will no longer do the trick. Intervene if an innocent’s life is in danger. Don’t intervene when it’s just about words.
There was a story out the other day about a woman on a bus who asked a group of teens to watch their language. Fifty years ago the teens probably would have complied. But today...that lady got beat up for saying something.
Nope, it’s not John Wayne’s America anymore. Adjust your risk/reward assessments accordingly.
So, you can start a fight, leave, obtain a weapon, come back to the fight, and claim self-defense? Good to know.

The felon left the store, retrieved a weapon, and went back into the store. In no logical world could he ever claim self-defense.
