House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) sought to tamp down worries that a GOP majority would use raising the federal debt ceiling as leverage to secure reforms on entitlement programs like Social Security and Medicare after a comment of his spurred Democratic attacks. “I never mentioned Social Security or Medicare. Actually, in the ‘Commitment to America,’ we say to strengthen Social Security and Medicare,” McCarthy said on CNBC Wednesday morning.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre claimed on Tuesday that Americans are saving money on gasoline under President Joe Biden. The national average price for gasoline surpassed $5.00 per gallon this summer, even though prices at the pump are currently $3.85 per gallon, according to data from AAA, marking a nearly 62% increase since Biden assumed office at the beginning of last year. Jean-Pierre nevertheless contended that the recent decline is the fruit of the commander-in-chief’s work to decrease costs for Americans. “Gas prices have fallen by $1.15 from their peak, which was not too long ago,” she told reporters...

She knew. When the Jan 6 Committee was being assembled, Chairman Bennie Thompson made a big deal of saying that “Nothing is off limits.” Nothing was off limits as far as Trump was concerned, that is. However, there was something very specifically to be off limits, according to Thompson. Nancy Pelosi.I found that very curious at the time but the reason for this has become crystal clear. A few days ago, the media heralded the release of a "new video" from January 6th. In it, Pelosi is seen fretting, complaining and threatening to punch out Donald Trump New footage from...

After suffering a severe stroke in May, Pennsylvania senatorial candidate John Fetterman now relies on speech-to-text software to understand the spoken word. The digital interface has become a part of him. In a recent NBC interview, Fetterman can be seen gazing at his desktop screen, struggling to comprehend the questions asked. The Democratic nominee will even be allowed to use this software in the Oct-25 debate with his Republican opponent, Dr. Mehmet Oz. In a healthy society, Fetterman’s own party would urge him to resign for the common good. This situation is beyond the polarized arguments over immigration, crime, or...

Biden is increasing the tax burden on trade workers to pay for other people’s nonsense degrees, and Milton Friedman wouldn’t stand for it. Author Kyle Reynolds profile Kyle Reynolds More Articles Share Share Article on Facebook Share Article on Twitter Share Article via Email The application for President Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan recently became available to the public, reopening debate on the federal government’s role in the matter. The economist Milton Friedman offered a particularly innovative, yet politically infeasible, solution to the conundrum in his 1962 classic, “Capitalism and Freedom.” Friedman advised the adoption of income share agreements. In...

There is an old Turkish proverb: "When a clown moves into a palace, he doesn't become a king. The palace becomes a circus." Twenty-one months ago, Biden and his merry band of nitwits oozed into the White House and the big top definitely arrived in DC. The circus was complete with clowns galore, donkey poop and death defying, dazzling acts of breathtaking stupidity. The British in 1814 did less damage to our beautiful country than Biden and his minions! Many Americans strongly believe that the 2020 election was rigged and mumbling Biden, hiding in his basement, could never, ever, honestly...

RUSSELLVILLE, Ala. (AP) — As part of an exercise to help the class learn English, a third grader pulled a block from a Jenga tower and read aloud a question written on one side. “Where,” the boy read, then slowly sounded out the other words: “Where would you like to visit?” “Disneyland,” one student said. “Space,” another classmate chimed in. “Guatemala,” said a girl with a bright blue bow. This northern Alabama community with large numbers of Hispanic immigrants is using federal COVID-19 relief money for an experiment to serve students who are still learning English. They are hiring and...

Delusional (outgoing) House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) told the far-left Punchbowl Democrats will keep the House in the upcoming midterm elections. “When we win,” the leftwing extremist said. Lol. “We’re going to win this election so I don’t even entertain that notion [of a Speaker Kevin McCarthy],” the 82-year-old added. “But it should be of concern to the Republicans.” “This is about turnout,” the delusional Pelosi said. “We know that the public is with us. But it’s about turnout. So I’m excited.” Oh, I bet you’re excited, cupcake.

Have you ever wondered about the phrase "common sense"? Simply put, it's a rational way of thinking that comes naturally to all humans. It's an innately provided type of knowledge that is unspoken and unwritten. It's taken for granted. We acquire such reasoning imperceptibly from the day we are born. Such reasoning keeps us from even contemplating notions that violate our God-given ability to make prudent judgments. Contrarily, an irrational way of thinking might cause us to accept such statements as "my dog drove me to the supermarket" or "my mother is younger than I am." There was a time...

Friday afternoons at the Chop-Chop Barbershop in central Moscow used to be busy, but at the beginning of a recent weekend, only one of the four chairs was occupied. “We would usually be full right now, but about half of our customers have gone,” said the manager, a woman named Olya. Many of the clients — along with half of the barbers, too — have fled Russia to avoid President Vladimir V. Putin’s campaign to mobilize hundreds of thousands of men for the flagging military campaign in Ukraine. Many men have been staying off the streets out of fear of...

On this date in 2005, a Chinese murderer who became the unlikely symbol of migrant laborers’ desperate plight was — quickly and quietly — put to death. Binyu knifed four people to death, which isn’t the typical stuff to earn a public outpouring. In the course of things, he’d ordinarily have gone to his grave in the anonymity that attends most Chinese executions, perhaps not even a number to international monitors who struggle to ballpark China’s executions to the nearest thousand. But the government news service published a surprisingly sympathetic interview of him, raising the case up for public comment...

Global concerns such as epidemics, wars and disasters weigh upon the minds of people around the world during every decade. But can a dominant global problem such as the COVID-19 pandemic cause people to neglect other urgent societal problems? A new study concludes that answer is yes. Oleg Smirnov, Ph.D., associate professor in the Department of Political Science at Stony Brook University and lead author, says that the data from their research illustrates how the COVID-19 pandemic affected the discussion on climate change on Twitter. He and co-author Pei-Hsun Hsieh, a Ph.D. student in Political Science, adopted Weber's psychological theory...

The concept of tenure is a contested one, to be sure. For some, it is a mere faculty entitlement, guaranteeing employment and further insulating professors from the practical realities of life. For others, it is a vital means of protecting the academy and securing the greatest degree of academic and intellectual freedom. Yet, regardless of the arguments for or against tenure, it is commonly assumed that schools can no longer do without it. Upon the release of the AAUP’s “1940 Statement of Principles on Academic Freedom and Tenure,” the practice began rapidly to be incorporated into handbooks, contracts, and policy...
