Global concerns such as epidemics, wars and disasters weigh upon the minds of people around the world during every decade. But can a dominant global problem such as the COVID-19 pandemic cause people to neglect other urgent societal problems? A new study concludes that answer is yes.
Oleg Smirnov, Ph.D., associate professor in the Department of Political Science at Stony Brook University and lead author, says that the data from their research illustrates how the COVID-19 pandemic affected the discussion on climate change on Twitter. He and co-author Pei-Hsun Hsieh, a Ph.D. student in Political Science, adopted Weber's psychological theory of the "finite pool of worry," which suggests that people avoid dealing with multiple negative events at the same time. And their research results "support the finite pool of worry hypothesis and imply that the pandemic redirects public attention from the important problem of climate change mitigation."
Smirnov and Hsieh conclude that because of their findings, "We emphasize that climate change mitigation may not seem important or at least, urgent to the public and policy makers in the presence of other global problems, such as the COVID-19 pandemic or major geopolitical crises...While the current global crises may be seen by policy makers as more pressing relative to the seemingly distant threat of climate change, the objective urgency of the problem remains the same."

Every pinko has their own idea of how best to destroy America.
There’s bound to be some friction between the camps.
Well crap. Attention deficit since I don’t care about either. 🤔😂👍
People have a “finite pool of worry.”
Guess what people will worry about when they get really hungry and are freezing to death in unheated homes because of Democrat policies?
So when you stay at general quarters 24/7... effectiveness drops? Swabbies are dozing in the gun tubs? Someone should tell the navy.
Lol
So which fear will the left ditch first?
Whichever one is losing its efficaciousness.
I would have titled this as “How Globalists Bite Themselves In The A** With Too Many Fake Crises.”
Great Title. It’s going to be fun to watch the Covidiots go head to head with the Meanie Greenies.
Because the people running this country, along with the globalists around the world, need you to be confronted with an imagined crisis every day, so you are easier for them to control.
When you convince people something is likely to kill them tomorrow, they stop worrying about the thing you convinced them would kill them in 15 years. Go figure.
