It’s a widely held belief that monogamy comes more naturally to women than it does to men. A lot of people subscribe to a narrative that says the sexes are just “wired” differently, with women having evolved to be monogamous and men to be promiscuous. There’s just one problem with this line of thinking—it’s not true, according to author Wednesday Martin’s latest book. In UNTRUE: Why Nearly Everything We Believe About Women, Lust, and Infidelity is Wrong and How the New Science Can Set Us Free , Martin offers a provocative read based on the latest research studies and interviews...

Republicans attended a news conference at the Statehouse with Boise attorney Tom Arkoosh, who has said he has no political ambitions other than to run the office fairly. “Tom Arkoosh is the first candidate on the Democratic ticket I have supported in my 66 years of work with the Republican Party," said Republican Sen. Patti Anne Lodge, the powerful chairwoman of the Senate's State Affairs Committee who is retiring this year....

While President Joe Biden “scrambles” to address Ukraine’s border war with Russia, the U.S. border sits vulnerable to a host of criminal activity that is quickly seeping into all 50 states. That’s problematic because in just a year and a half, Biden’s border crisis has made it increasingly easier for transnational criminal organizations raking in hundreds of millions of dollars each year smuggling migrants across the U.S.-Mexico border to become even more profitable and powerful. The Department of Homeland Security bragged last week that there has been a “500% increase in human smuggling disruption activity compared to similar past operations”...

Or… getting eaten alive by a deer. We’ve all thought we’ve had some pretty bad days at some points in our lives, but the next time things feel like they’re going south for you, just put think about this poor rabbit. A video has gone viral of a Red deer in New Zealand, eating a whole-ass rabbit alive. Considering a deer’s diet mainly consists of plants, you wouldn’t think in a million years that the creature had the nerve to consume a whole small creature, like a rabbit… But think again, because this video says otherwise. In the post uploaded...

Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL)’s political action committee, Country First, on Tuesday announced its endorsements for the 2022 mid-terms, which were essentially a slate of people running against Trump-endorsed candidates, including six Democrats, according to a press release. Kinzinger, who opted not to run for re-election after voting to impeach former President Donald Trump, said in a statement: “Now more than ever, it’s critical we elect leaders up and down the ballot who are loyal to the Constitution and willing to be a bulwark for democracy – regardless of their political party affiliation.” “We must set partisan politics and ideology aside...

Derek Chauvin could not afford an attorney to appeal his convictions in the case of George Floyd. Chauvin’s insurance did not extend to appeals and the Minnesota Supreme Court denied him a public defender. Although I thought Chauvin could not have received a fair trial in Hennepin County, it looked like he wouldn’t be able to raise the issue on appeal either. I put out the call on Power Line for some member of the Minnesota bar to represent Chauvin on appeal. In the best tradition of the American legal profession, my friend Bill Mohrman answered the call. Chauvin’s legal...

It's a manic moment as male cactus bees envelop a single female. But who in this amorous scrum will emerge lucky and get to mate with her? This remarkable picture, captured by Karine Aigner, is the grand title winner in this year's Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition. On one level it's quite a technical image. It required the use of a macro probe lens to get in close to the very heart of the action. "I had to spend quite a bit of time on my belly in the dirt," Karine joked.

Earlier this year archaeologists said they had found the remains of 17 bodies - but believed “many more” were waiting to be unearthed. Now they say they have found the remains of more than 240 people - including those of children. Many of the remains...

NATO will push ahead with long-planned nuclear exercises next week despite rising tensions over the war in Ukraine and President Vladimir Putin’s insistence that he is not bluffing about using all available means to defend Russian territory, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said Tuesday. The exercise, dubbed “Steadfast Noon,” is held annually and usually runs for about one week. It involves fighter jets capable of carrying nuclear warheads but does not involve any live bombs. Conventional jets, and surveillance and refueling aircraft also routinely take part. Fourteen of the 30 NATO member countries will be involved in the exercise, which was...

During an interview aired on Monday’s edition of NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” Vice President Kamala Harris reacted to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) busing migrants to her residence in Washington, D.C., by stating the move is “an absolute dereliction of duty.” because “If you see a problem and if we agree that we need to address it, then, if you’re a leader, participate in a solution,” which she argued the Biden administration has done by proposing a bill for “a pathway for citizenship…to fix a broken immigration system, which was broken under the previous administration.” Harris stated, “I...
