It’s a widely held belief that monogamy comes more naturally to women than it does to men. A lot of people subscribe to a narrative that says the sexes are just “wired” differently, with women having evolved to be monogamous and men to be promiscuous.
There’s just one problem with this line of thinking—it’s not true, according to author Wednesday Martin’s latest book. In UNTRUE: Why Nearly Everything We Believe About Women, Lust, and Infidelity is Wrong and How the New Science Can Set Us Free , Martin offers a provocative read based on the latest research studies and interviews with experts in human sexuality that challenges us to think differently about women and sex. She sets the record straight on a number of false beliefs about female sexuality in particular, including when and why women cheat.
Così fan tutte?
treat them well while not being a puppy and letting them know that you’ve put a spell on them. they will probably feel secure enough not to roam, but you still won’t get any sex.
they will use sex outside the marriage if they don’t think you are giving them everything else they need. then that poor guy won’t get sex and will have to give them everything else.
Not surprised for me but haven’t surveyed others
I believe the Puritans (who more more fun than many believe) felt that women did run a little “hot” and needed to be watched more than men, who were more responsible.
And from what I hear about modern dating apps, the women are frequently trying to “trade up” and catch the biggest Alpha they can. I think a fair number of men want to settle down but they seem to make poor choices and end up with women who don’t plan to settle down — at least not with them.
Hypergamy. Yep. Agree.
I’ve seen (much) earlier studies finding that young women are more prone to cheating than young men.
Then the numbers reverse as age increases.
Makes sense because women are valued for youth and men for money, which takes some time to accrue.
Don’t mean to rub anyone’s fur backward, but in general men prefer young women and women prefer older men who have money than do the younger ones.
That’s why we have religion, to push people to the right way of doing things and away from the wrong.
Bull crap
Main rule is women must have their heart involved 99% of the time
Us men are plain and simple dogs. As Billy a Crystals character said in “Harry meets a Sally”
New will screw anything, fat, skinny, ugly, beautiful fir 99% of men it dies t matter
All this pertaining to a PreChistian filled life of course
Yep.
....challenges us to think differently about women and sex....
What ever happened to enjoying your life? Who the hell has time for all this crap? Answer: Women, that’s who.
I’ve known a few straight up nymphos.
Just speaking from my or my circles experinces, if your a pushover then your screwed. If she doesn’t respect you she’ll walk all over you.
I have heard that the vast majority of divorces are initiated by the women. Of course there can be reasons for seeking divorce completely separate from sexual feelings. But maybe sex desire plays into that.
Could it be that both sexes crave sexual variety?
Could it be that this desire for different partners will tie in with the biological imperative of reproduction, such that the males and females with the strongest desires will be the ones who reproduce the most?
LOL So true. That's a thread for a Friday or Saturday night here on FR.
I have a fun Biology story I tell friends. (Males only)
When I was 12, I was attracted to 20 year old women
When I was 20, I was attracted to 20 year old women
I’m in my 40’s, I am attracted to 20 year old women
That’s Biology 101
Especially when you’re in a gynosociety.
Said no healthy woman ever.
