Prior to Steven Owens taking his retirement in 2018 he was an engineer. The 59-year-old who once built satellites for launch into outer space also played the guitar and saxophone. That was before his diagnosis. On Valentine’s Day 2017, Owens was told that he had early onset Alzheimer’s disease. On Valentine’s Day five years before, his mother passed away from the same disease. “Whereas the Clintons are like herpes: Just when you think they’re gone, they show up again.” Due to the popularity of Home Improvement, advisers of former First Lady Hillary Clinton once suggested she appear on the children's sitcom. The information was picked up on in previously unreleased documents from Hillary Clinton’s years as first lady. “I know this may sound like a wild idea, but I think it is an interesting one to discuss,” wrote the first lady’s press secretary, Lisa Caputo, in an August 1995 memo. “[ABC News producer] Rick Kaplan brought to my attention that Home Improvement would...

New polling shows Pennsylvania Republican gubernatorial candidate Doug Mastriano pulling close to Democratic rival Josh Shapiro as the contentious governor’s race nears its home stretch. Polling from the Trafalgar Group shows Mastriano within two points of Shapiro, at 45.7% to 47.7%, respectively. That indicates the race may be significantly closer than data from earlier weeks demonstrated.

Republicans Dr. Mehmet Oz and State Sen. Doug Mastriano are quickly gaining on their Democrat opponents in Pennsylvania’s U.S. Senate and gubernatorial races, according to a poll. The Trafalgar Group poll, released Friday, shows Fetterman’s lead over Oz has dwindled to under two points, indicating the Republican is picking up momentum in the race. Of the likely voter respondents, 45.9 percent say they are supporting Oz, while 47.7 percent back Fetterman, the state’s lieutenant governor. Another 3.5 percent say they plan to vote for Libertarian Erik Gerhardt, and 2.4 percent remain undecided. Oz has made gains since last month’s Trafalgar...

The Atlantic hurricane season officially began on June 1. However, until now, we’ve had an eerily quiet stretch of virtually no major storm threats to the Gulf of Mexico or the U.S. mainland. However, that could soon change as “Invest 98L,” currently swirling in the southeastern Caribbean, is predicted to go tropical and potentially enter the Gulf next week as a major hurricane. That’s a problem. Possibly a major, scary problem, because almost anytime even a moderate strength hurricane enters the Gulf of Mexico, oil production on the rigs at sea to the refineries that dot the southern U.S. Gulf...

Her doorbell camera has caught the man making himself at home on many occasions over the past month, counting at least 10 visits thus far. "I do not know why he chose my patio," she said. On Thursday, her camera alerted her that he was on her porch a little before sunrise, prompting her to call police once again. They told him to leave, but he returned hours later, resulting in another call to authorities. When officers dispatched to the residence asked him if he lived there, he told them he did, but since he couldn't show them a key...

Wheel of Fortune and host Pat Sajak have been catching a lot of heat these last few days. During a recent episode of ABC’s hit game show, a puzzle with a racist history in the United States was presented as one for contestants to solve. The category was “Rhyme Time,” and the answer was later revealed as “EENIE MEENIE MINY MOE CATCH A TIGER BY THE TOE,” which didn’t sit well with viewers. According to Vox, the original version of this rhyme is “rooted in the slave trade,” and was not used by children but by slave-owners. “Tiger” in the...

HARRISBURG, Pa. — In the same spot where he spoke to thousands of people at a raucous State Capitol rally demanding an end to pandemic restrictions in April 2020, Doug Mastriano appeared on Saturday before a crowd of just a few dozen — about half of whom were volunteers for his ragtag campaign for governor of Pennsylvania. Mr. Mastriano, an insurgent state senator who in the spring cruised to the Republican nomination, is learning this fall that while it is one thing to win a crowded G.O.P. primary on the back of online fame and Donald J. Trump’s endorsement, it...

Ukraine’s recent successes have left some opponents of Russian President Vladimir Putin's war emboldened to speak out against the Kremlin. One of Russia's most celebrated pop stars, Alla Pugachova has asked to be declared a foreign agent, in solidarity with her exiled husband Maxim Galkin. He was designated a foreign agent less than a week ago. In an online post, she said Putin's war in Ukraine was "killing soldiers for illusory aims", and turning Russia into a "global pariah". Is there a shift in Russian public opinion, given Moscow's recent military set-backs in its war on Ukraine?

Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro continues to hold a double-digit lead in the race for Governor, according to a new Muhlenberg College/Morning Call poll. The poll found Shapiro with 53% support, consistent with a CBS/YouGov poll released earlier this month. A Trafalgar Poll also released in September showed just a two point lead for Shapiro. With Mastriano receiving 42%, only four percent of voters in the Muhlenberg poll said they were undecided or would support a third party candidate. Shapiro also held an 18 point lead over Mastriano in favorable rating with a near mirror image of support: 31 percent...

A gold funeral mask, thought to be more than 3,000 years old, has been discovered in the tomb of an ancient noble in the city of Zhengzhou in central China. It's one of the oldest gold objects ever found in central China, as contemporary treasures tend to be crafted from bronze and jade, raising questions about possible links to other early Chinese states where gold was more common. The gold mask is 7.2 inches (18.3 centimeters) long and 5.7 inches (14.5 cm) wide — large enough to cover the entire face of an adult...Finds from three other ancient Chinese archaeological sites...
