Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky ventured beyond the relative safety of Kyiv on Wednesday to visit the recently liberated city of Izyum, where he promised to drive Russian forces from all of Ukraine. “Our blue-yellow flag is already flying in de-occupied Izyum. And it will be so in every Ukrainian city and village,” he said on social media during the visit. “We are moving in only one direction — forward and towards victory.” A supply and logistic hub for Russian operations in the eastern Donbas region of Ukraine, the retaking of Izyum represents a strategic win for Ukraine as well as...

You thought you turned the thermostat down. In the Texas late summer heat, it keeps getting warmer inside. No matter how much you fiddle with the temperature, you cannot control the climate in your house. When winter comes, those with “smart thermostats” could find themselves without the means to do the same. A combination of smart devices, utility control, unreliable “green” energy, and poor planning will mean a retread of Soviet-style shortages and rationing. For those who need the energy at the hottest and coldest times of the year, the effects will be critical. And as difficult as this summer...

President Biden on Wednesday got behind the wheels of pricey luxury vehicles at the Detroit Auto Show — just a day after drawing jeers for throwing an “inflation reduction” party despite worse-than-expected August data that showed US wages aren’t keeping up with surging prices. Biden revved a gas-guzzling Chevrolet Corvette Z06, which starts at $105,000, before sitting in the driver’s seat of an electric Chevrolet Silverado EV, which starts at $39,900, and checking out an electric Ford Mustang Mach-E, which goes for around $47,000. The president then drove around the showroom in an electric Cadillac Lyric, which starts near $63,000....

WASHINGTON — When John H. Durham was assigned by the Justice Department in 2019 to examine the origins of the investigation into the 2016 Trump campaign’s ties to Russia, President Donald J. Trump and his supporters expressed a belief that the inquiry would prove that a “ deep state” conspiracy including top Obama-era officials had worked to sabotage him. Now Mr. Durham appears to be winding down his three-year inquiry without anything close to the results Trump was seeking. The grand jury that Mr. Durham has recently used to hear evidence has expired, and while he could convene another, there...

Democrat John Fetterman holds a five-point lead over Republican Dr. Mehmet Oz in Pennsylvania’s race for U.S. Senate, according to a poll. The CBS/YouGov released Wednesday shows that 47 percent of registered voters back Oz, a celebrity doctor, while 52 percent support Fetterman, the state’s lieutenant governor. Another one percent remain undecided. The candidates evenly split the independent demographic, with both garnering 49 percent of the response, but Fetterman is doing better with Democrats than Oz is doing with Republicans. Of Democrat participants, 95 percent say they support Fetterman, and 87 percent of Republicans back Oz, who has former President...

"Some transplant recipients are rejecting their new organ and scientists say the coronavirus vaccine may be to blame," WISH TV reports. VIDEO AT LINK.......... From WISH, "New study finds organ recipients rejecting transplant after receiving COVID vaccine": According to a new study published in the Journal of Clinical Medicine, acute corneal allografts are being rejected by immunized patients who've undergone the procedure. Researchers say the underlying cause could be tied to a systemic inflammatory response elicited by the shot post-jab. The cornea is the outermost layer of a person’s eye. Corneal grafts are used to restore a damaged cornea. The...

The free people of independent Ukraine! And that says it all. Just four words, but how much is behind them today. On the 182nd day of the full-scale war. How many symbols and meanings, feats and losses, joy and pain are in these words. And mainly how much truth is in them. Our truth. Truth about our present, with which it is impossible to argue, as it is impossible not to see and not to admit. We are the free people of independent Ukraine. After six months of the attempts to destroy us, we are the free people of independent...

At this time, the defense rests," Melisa McNeill declared. "We're not playing chess," said Broward County (Florida) Circuit Judge Elizabeth Scherer, visibly annoyed. "This is the most uncalled for, unprofessional way to try the case." The court had expected 40 more defense witnesses to take the stand when McNeill made the unexpected announcement. Because of the lack of advance warning, prosecutors had not prepared rebuttal witnesses, and the jurors would have to be sent home. I honestly have never experienced [this] level of unprofessionalism in my career. It's, it's unbelievable," the judge fumed. When McNeill tried to defend herself on...

After four seasons on Paramount, Yellowstone has only earned one Emmy nod for Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Contemporary Program in 2021. It was completely ignored this year, even though Kelly Reilly’s star continues to rise for her portrayal of the volcanic Beth Dutton. There are widespread theories about Yellowstone‘s MIA status during awards season. Voters may continue to see the Kevin Costner drama as a red state western, a show about the other part of America that only your dad watches.

Hounded by accusations from Republican Dr. Mehmet Oz that he is avoiding debates, Democratic U.S. Senate candidate John Fetterman has finally agreed to one in late October in Harrisburg. Fetterman’s campaign said Wednesday that he has committed to an Oct. 25 debate hosted by Nexstar Television that will be shown live on network affiliates reaching all 67 Pennsylvania counties. “We said from the start that we’d do a debate, which John reiterated very clearly again last week,” said Rebecca Katz, a senior advisor to the Fetterman campaign, in a statement. “Enough distractions. It’s time to talk about the issues.” A...

Seeking an excuse to eat some apple pie this fall, I decided to write about one of the things that’s been a mystery to me since moving to Vermont about a decade ago: cheddar cheese on apple pie. I had no idea that investigating this custom would be a headfirst dive into a pool of stark division. People have strong feelings about cheddar cheese on apple pie. In a recent, very unscientific poll I conducted among my own social media followers, 45% of responders said they’ve never had cheddar cheese on their apple pie—and they never will. Meanwhile, 21% said...

Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki in her debut as an MSNBC commentator said former President Trump is “energizing” Democratic voters ahead of the November midterm elections. Psaki, the former face of the Biden White House who left the administration in May, made her first appearance as an MSNBC commentator Tuesday on “Alex Wagner Tonight.” She predicted that the more Trump puts himself front and center on personal issues, the more he endangers GOP candidates.

A group of moms are seeking to intervene in a case that overturned several of Minnesota’s “commonsense” and “bipartisan” protections for women and girls who obtain abortions. Among those protections was a two-parent notification law, which required both parents of a minor to be given notice 48 hours before their daughter’s abortion procedure. In a July ruling, Ramsey County Judge Thomas Gilligan, appointed to the bench by former Gov. Mark Dayton, struck down this and four other regulations that he deemed unconstitutional. These provisions included: 1. The “physician-only law,” which required abortions to be performed only by physicians. 2. The...

The owner of a $155,000 Tesla Model S Plaid told the Elon Musk-focused outlet Teslarati that he received a call that any car owner would dread just days after dropping off his vehicle for service in Plano, Texas. The man, identified only as Jeff, said he left his car at the Tesla Service Center in Plano on Aug. 24 and was contacted by the service center on Aug. 30. According to the report, the Tesla employee said four words every car owner dreads: “We have some bad news.” Then he added, “Your car was totaled.” Jeff, understandably, couldn’t believe what...

Chronic pain is not a topic that comes up often in casual conversation. But, maybe it should — because millions of Americans live with it every day. In fact, this condition, which causes sufferers to experience protracted and often debilitating pain for weeks, months or even years, affects about 20 percent of American adults, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). That comes to roughly 50 million people. The prevalence of chronic pain has also led to nearly $300 billion in lost productivity annually. Since September happens to be chronic pain awareness month, it’s an especially important...

A viral video is being circulated on russian social media which shows that at the military airport in the junction of Raznodninsky and Krasno Perekopsky in Crimea, two Russian Su-25 attack planes took off, one of the plane seemed to be out of control and suddenly crashed and exploded. The pilot did not have time to eject and open parachute and was confirmed dead. At present, the reason for the crash of the Su-25 attack aircraft is still unclear, but from the picture, the Su-25 attack aircraft only has two S-13 rocket launch pods mounted on it, which seems to...
