The final polls in the 2020 presidential election overstated Joe Biden’s strength, especially in a handful of states. In each of these states — and some others — pollsters failed to reach a representative sample of voters. One factor seems to be that Republican voters are...

The downgraded expectation for this year is almost entirely due to the collapse of the memory market in the second half of 2022. As discussed below, it was as though someone “flipped a switch” to the off position for the memory market beginning in June! The number of people forced into modern forms of slavery by poverty and other crises has risen by a fifth in recent years to around 50 million on any given day, the UN International Labour Organization (ILO) said on Monday (Sep 12). More than half of those had been forced to work against their will and the rest forced into marriage, the ILO said. Both came under its definition of modern slavery as they involved people who "cannot refuse or cannot leave because of threats, violence, deception, abuse of power or other forms of coercion", it added.

A left-leaning New York think tank sounded a familiar warning about Arizona’s “voter suppression bills” being “dangerously close to becoming law.” The Brennan Center for Justice added in a press release that Arizona was “taking center stage in the relentless effort to rein in voter participation in the name of ‘election security.’” Pending bills, the think tank claimed, were “aimed at making voting by mail harder.” That was in April 2021, before Arizona passed several reform measures that state legislators said they crafted to ensure secure and honest elections. When Liz Cheney was picked by Nancy Pelosi to serve as vice-chair of the Jan. 6 Select Committee, the Wyoming lawmaker launched one of her biggest lies. Cheney said she took the job to ensure the committee would achieve its goal of conducting a "nonpartisan, professional and thorough investigation" of the Capitol riots. But her time on the panel has not been nonpartisan, professional or thorough. From the very start, she helped load the scales against Donald Trump. At no time did Cheney bother to act judiciously or fairly.

The law made abortion illegal except to protect the mother's life.A judge has struck down Michigan’s 1931 abortion law that banned nearly all abortions. On Wednesday, Judge Elizabeth Gleicher of Michigan’s Court of Claims declared the nearly 100-old law unconstitutional. The law made it a crime to perform abortions except when the mother’s life is in danger. Gleicher ruled the law will “endanger the health and lives of women,” violating both their bodily integrity and right to equal protection as protected under the Michigan Constitution, which she said can be interpreted more broadly than the federal Constitution. “Manifestly, criminalizing abortion...
