A teacher on TikTok has an order for whites — especially ones in academia: Stop putting others in peril. Ours is an unprecedented era, in which people use phones as soliloquy slingshots to shoot monologues into the ether. Such messages are often edited for polish and delivered as if eager masses are waiting to listen and learn. It’s the new national pastime. And in a recent video shared by Libs Of TikTok, a woman identifying herself as a teacher drops science on America’s — and education’s — poorly pigmented. Starting off, she clangs the community bell: “Okay, white educators. This...

On this date in 1936, the Spanish politician Melquíades Álvarez was shot by the Republicans. A centrist who disdained “two equally despicable fanaticisms … red fanaticism and black bigotry,” Alvarez (English Wikipedia entry | the more comprehensive Spanish) fell into the chasm torn by the Spanish Civil War. The Gijon-born former barrister noted for his oratory had been in public life as a liberal back to the last years of the 19th century and in 1912 co-founded the Reform or Reformist Party. Although sympathetic to the democratic aspirations of the Republican movement, the Reform Party was cool to forcing a...

Political pundits have predicted a red wave, but the mood of the electorate may be shifting in the closing months before November. On Thursday, the Cook Political Report deemed Senate control this fall a "toss-up," following recent polls that suggested several Republican candidates are trailing behind their Democratic opponents in key races.

For 30 days in April and May, a group of expeditionary communications technicians got together at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, with one task: Find a way for the F-35 to transfer data on remote or contested Pacific islands. Often referred to as a “flying computer,” the F-35 has sophisticated technological capabilities, but it also requires datalink connections to use and share vast quantities of information at high speed. When the F-35 lands at U.S. Air Force bases, it unloads its data to a server known as the Air Force Network, or AFNet. Maintainers and operators can then study that...

Jared Kushner dismissed the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago as just another attempt by Donald Trump's enemies to bring him down. Speaking for the first time since the raid two weeks ago, Kushner told Fox News' Mark Levin on Sunday evening that his father-in-law is a 'fighter' and contradicted Justice Department claims that the search was to find classified documents Trump took from the White House. 'It is giving a lot of people who want to believe in the fairness of the judicial system and our democracy a lot of pause and concern,' Kushner, 41, said. Since the raid on Monday,...

Hundreds of migrants — at least some bussed to the Big Apple by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott — lined up outside Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx on Sunday to get health care coverage, food and other items including school supplies and free phones. The event, organized by the city hospital system, was billed as a “resource and family fun day” for the migrants and their children, many of whom have come to New York City in droves in recent weeks. “I came to New York about three days ago. I am a welder, and I am looking for work here,”...

Something amazing has happened. Many posts ago, I told people that Yes, I am open to taking requests for free open source audiobook production and I meant it. I would be curious to know any directions people would like to go - of course, I have my own goals and a much greater lack of manpower than anybody can know. But there's plenty of room for overlap, and that post will never have an expiration date. But there has been a change recently, and most importantly, the reverse has come true. I've been in contact with someone, and after many...

Public schools even for the youngest children are becoming playgrounds for the woke, featuring drag queens, transgender closets, Critical Race Theory and more, but if you say a word about it, the National Education Association (NEA) will destroy you. According to Fox News Thursday, “the ad flips back and forth between colorful photos of teachers with students and black-and-white photos of parents, arguing that the latter are trying to fuse politics with education.” Which, of course, the hard-Left, thoroughly politicized NEA itself would never ever...
