A major Mexican resort town was under siege on Sunday and an airport was reportedly attacked as the leader of the brutal Jalisco New Generation Cartel was killed by the army on Sunday.
Tourists in Puerto Vallarta were warned to stay indoors as narco gangs lashed out following the death of drug kingpin Nemesio “El Mencho” Oseguera Cervantes, the powerful boss of the violent crime outfit.
The US State Department urged Americans to shelter in place, and some American tourists have reported being trapped in the region.

The problem is the cartel operates all over mexico. They can’t get them all by hitting just their compounds. I would assume they’re here, as well.

You know what else would show no mercy? Walking in and taking over the US banks that serve their accounts. And full on sanctions against offshore banks that serve them.
It’s super fun to do the splashy Blackhawks, bombs and commando approach. But DC will have no stomach to go after the Epstein class bankers that enjoy managing and moving the cartel billions.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum finally made a statement:
“President Claudia Sheinbaum said her government was responding to the unrest, stressing that in the “vast majority of the national territory, activities are proceeding with complete normality”.
“There is absolute coordination with the governments of all states; we must remain informed and calm,” Sheinbaum wrote on X.”
According to The New York Times, the violence erupted in at least five Mexican states, and the Spanish newspaper El Pais also reported “blockades” in central Mexico.

Too bad Mexico isn’t a threat to Israel.
We could then justify rebuilding Mexico.

Sitting it out here in Mexico about 45 minutes from Puerto Vallarta. All is calm where I am, but most businesses are closed. The roads in and out are closed as well. Hoping to fly out of PV in a few days, but we’ll see what happens.

Thanks for the prayers! We have owned our place here for 26 years, and usually drive here.
I tell folks that all the news stories about about craziness in Mexico are nothing new, but in the past we just didn’t hear about it on the internet. However, this time it feels different.
I have been persuaded not to risk the drive home this time, so we’ll leave the vehicle here and come back for it after things calm down. But I will post any updates from here over the next few days.
