Wyoming is a very conservative state. Forty-six percent of its adults self-identify as conservative, as opposed to moderate or liberal; only Mississippi claims a higher percentage. But in sending incumbent Liz Cheney to her premature retirement in Tuesday’s primary, Wyoming struck a blow against conservatism. Cheney’s defeat is just the latest demonstration that Trumpism now eclipses conservatism as the reigning faith of the Republican party. Compare the 46 percent of Wyoming’s adults who self-identify as conservative to the 57 percent of its adults who are Republican or lean Republican, according to Pew. That makes Wyoming more Republican than conservative; indeed,...

On this date in 1942, 39-year-old French/Ukrainian novelist Irene Nemirovsky was gassed at the Auschwitz Concentration Camp in Poland. She was a victim of the Nazis’ racial laws: anyone with even one Jewish grandparent, even if they themselves did not practice the Jewish religion, could be considered a Jew. Nemirovsky, born to a wealthy Russian-Jewish family in what is now the Ukraine, had converted to Catholicism in 1939 — sincerely, insofar as anyone can discern. Irene Nemirovsky fled Russian territory after the Bolshevik Revolution and spent a short time in exile in Finland and Sweden before eventually settling in France....

"They said she was delusional for running again after betraying most of the Republican voters of her ‘home state’ of Wyoming, and she was even sanctioned by the state’s Republican Party to stop calling herself a Republican. But just as with joining the illegal ‘J6’ committee (the first committee in history to have no members appointed by Minority Party leadership) the alt-far-left MSM rooted her on anyway. ..."

The ONLY two Republicans (so-called) on the January 6th committee will soon be gone from the Congress. Cheney has been crushed in today's primary and Kinzinger isn't seeking re-election because he knows he doesn't stand a chance of winning. These two Trump haters have seen their political careers come to a well-deserved end.

Now there's a growing sense that Europe might not only meet its gas targets but also exceed them... Injections to Europe’s gas storage are running about nine weeks ahead of last year... European gas storage levels are above 70%, and have even surpassed the 5-year average. By November 1st, the EU will likely hit 80% natural gas storage capacity (its goal) – in time for peak winter demand. Germany is even aiming for 95% capacity, and is already at 75%... Even before Russia invaded Ukraine, Germany’s decision to shut down its three remaining nuclear plants made no sense. But since the invasion Germany has very gradually been coming around to the idea that it might be time to reconsider those decisions. That’s especially true ever since Russia cut off most of the natural gas it was supplying to Russia in June.Today, it appears Germany has finally turned a corner. The Wall Street Journal reports plans to close the remaining nuclear plants are likely to be postponed. The decision has yet to be formally adopted by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s cabinet and...

Democrats appeared to mourn the projected loss of Never Trump Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) to the Donald Trump-backed candidate Harriet Hageman.
