Despite the fact that the younger adults that comprise the majority of our military forces have never been at great risk from covid and the fact that getting a covid vaccination does not prevent the recipient from getting or transmitting the disease, the Biden Administration still insists that soldiers, sailors, and airmen who refuse to be vaccinated must be discharged from the service. In testimony before the House Armed Services Committee, Army Vice Chief of Staff Gen. Joseph Martin predicted "a recruitment shortfall of 28,000 for the current fiscal year. This is despite raising our maximum enlistment bonus to $50,000...

[Catholic Caucus] When Will Some Courageous Shepherds Just Say NO? The other night I watched, once again, the 1973 film, The Catholics, with Martin Sheen and Trevor Howard. The title was later changed to Conflict. If you want to understand where we're going, watch the movie. Brief synopsis: The Latin Mass has almost disappeared after Vatican IV. A group of Irish monks, however, continue to pray the Latin Mass and, to accommodate the crowds, they say it on a mountain that was once the scene of Masses during Cromwell's persecution. After a news broadcast about the Mass, pilgrims head...

NEW YORK (AP) — The Justice Department filed suit Wednesday against Peter Navarro, claiming the former adviser to Donald Trump used an unofficial email account while working in the White House and wrongfully retained presidential records. The lawsuit in federal court in Washington claims Navarro used at least one “non-official” email account — a ProtonMail account — to send and receive emails. The legal action comes just weeks after Navarro was indicted on criminal charges after refusing to cooperate with a congressional investigation into the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol. The civil cases alleges that by using the...

A 5-year-old girl and a 36-year-old woman were killed by a fire inside a public housing apartment in Harlem that officials believe was caused by the exploding battery of an electric scooter. The blaze, which ignited in the pre-dawn hours of Wednesday, also seriously injured the girl’s father. The tragedy marks the second and third fatalities in public housing caused by the volatile lithium-ion batteries that power e-bikes, scooters and hoverboards and that NYCHA is now considering banning from its 177,000 apartments. Last December, a tenant died in a fire caused by a battery at the Jacob Riis Houses in...

[Catholic Caucus] The Liturgy Wars Have Become Doctrinal WarsMany Catholics over the past few decades have studiously avoided the “liturgy wars” within the Church and, frankly, I don’t blame them. Too often these battles involve a lot of heat and not a lot of light. Catholic against Catholic can become quite vicious and personal at times. Better to simply keep one’s head down, bear silently with any liturgical issues at your parish, and soldier on.Because of this prevailing attitude, many Catholics have also only been somewhat if at all interested in Pope Francis’s efforts to restrict and ultimately eliminate the...

Fortunately, at present, no lives appeared to be endangered by the lava flow, according to Iceland’s Department of Civil Protection and Emergency Management. The country’s main transportation hub, Keflavík Airport, was briefly alerted, as is standard procedure during eruptions. However, the facility didn’t cancel any flights and operations are continuing to run on schedule. Hjorleifsson predicts that the eruption will have little effect on air traffic, as it was a fissure eruption, in which lava flows instead of explodes. This is generally less dangerous than the bombastic central variety, in which ejection of debris and lava flows from a central...

Explanation: What created the unusual halo around the Cat's Eye nebula? No one is sure. What is sure is that the Cat's Eye Nebula (NGC 6543) is one of the best known planetary nebulae on the sky. Although haunting symmetries are seen in the bright central region, this image was taken to feature its intricately structured outer halo, which spans over three light-years across. Planetary nebulae have long been appreciated as a final phase in the life of a Sun-like star. Only recently however, have some planetaries been found to have expansive halos, likely formed from material shrugged off during...

Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski on Wednesday asked the country's Prime Minister Denis Shmyha to consider the possibility of legalizing same-sex marriage in the country. Zelenski thus responded to a petition presented on July 3 and signed by more than 28,000 people. However, he stressed that, as stated in the country's Family Code, the "family is the basic primary unit of Ukrainian society". "A family consists of people living together, connected by a common life, with mutual rights and obligations. According to the Ukrainian Constitution, marriage is based on the free consent of a man and a woman," the president said,...

The new head of CNN has said he wants the network to become less of a partisan liberal outlet. In particular, Licht has called for on-air people to avoid using Democrat tropes like "the big lie." Mediaite reports: "Licht argued that using 'the big lie' makes the mistake of adopting branding used by the Democratic Party, thereby weakening the objectivity of the network." Despite Licht's supposed mandate to lean away from liberal partisanship, and to avoid using Democrat tropes, in the very first minutes of this morning's New Day, discussing yesterday's primary results, co-hosts Brianna Keilar and John Avlon parroted...

In the wake of Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, the Chinese have taken unprecedented steps. Wednesday the Chinese military continued a series of massive exercises in the vicinity of Taiwan. Ominously, these exercises specifically included what Chinese state media called “joint blockade training.” That specific phraseology is clearly a deliberate reference to long-standing planning for a naval and air blockade of Taiwan to cut it off from the rest of the world. China also announced that it will fire missiles directly over Taiwan and that the “median line” which marks the boundary of Taiwan’s territorial waters “will cease to exist”.

Alex Jones appeared shocked as he was told his lawyers had accidentally handed over hundreds of text messages by mistake after he told a court that they did not exist, after admitting that the Sandy Hook massacre did happen. The InfoWars host squirmed in his seat after confirming his phone number was linked to the texts, after previously declaring under oath at the defamation hearing that there were no messages about Sandy Hook on his phone. Jones was horrified to discover that his team sent a digital copy of every text and email about Sandy Hook, despite declaring under oath...

Ukraine’s ambassador to Lebanon on Wednesday insisted a Syrian ship docked at a Lebanese port is carrying stolen Ukrainian grain and urged Lebanon to block the vessel from leaving. The claim comes just days before the tiny cash-strapped country receives Ukraine’s first grain shipment since Russia’s invasion began over five months ago. The Syrian-flagged Laodicea has been anchored at the port of Tripoli since it arrived last Thursday, carrying 10,000 tons of wheat flour and barley. Ukraine says the grain was stolen by Russia.
