SANTA FE – The attorneys who filed a last-ditch lawsuit on behalf of President Donald Trump’s campaign in an attempt to stop New Mexico’s 2020 election results from being finalized could face investigation and possible discipline, under a court petition filed Thursday with the state Supreme Court. The Supreme Court petition, filed on behalf of six New Mexico attorneys, says a probe would also shed light on how New Mexico fit into a national Trump campaign scheme that has drawn scrutiny from a congressional committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol. But the 31-page petition mostly...

ST. Deputies said Brett Dixon, 29, of Tennessee, was seen on surveillance video entering the parking lot of the gas station in a green Jeep Cherokee bearing a Virginia tag. It's the same SUV deputies said was reported stolen out of Wise, Virginia on Monday. Authorities said the Jeep's passenger window had been busted out and shards of glass...

THIRTEENTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME MATTHEW 9:9–13 Friends, our Gospel for today is the simple but magnificent story of the conversion of Matthew. I urge you to read it and meditate upon it this week, for it’s about you. The Bible says that Jesus told Matthew, “Follow me.” The call of Jesus is meant to get into your mind, and then past your mind into your body, and then through your body into your life, into your most practical decisions. And then we hear that Matthew “got up and followed him.” The verb used here in the Greek is the...

Guy highlighted how poorly White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has been handling her job, and it appears that POLITICO has taken notice as well. The Wednesday night edition of West Wing Playbook Exclusive for the outlet noted that "Karine Jean-Pierre's tough debut: Unforced stumbles and press corps grumbles," which began by pointing out that she's had "a rocky first month." Jean-Pierre has memorably made a Freudian slip, such as when she accurately but accidentally pointed out that Biden is looking to "elevate" the pain at the pump. She also is known to flip through her binders without having a...

Authorities said two recent fires in Blue Springs were both caused by lithium-ion batteries that are commonly found in most homes. No one was hurt in the fires. Rechargeable batteries are found in a variety of products. The fire department said to make sure your smoke detectors work and take action. The pictures show what's left of a Dyson vacuum that caught fire from a third-party battery purchased on Amazon. The fire started in the primary bedroom closet while the family was at home. "They burn at really high heat. It takes a lot of water," said fire Capt. Derrick...

It used to be that when presidents went abroad, they refrained from trashing the opposition at home or the institutions of the United States Government. The saying that “politics stops at the water’s edge” no longer holds true — if it ever really did. But it’s always been considered bad form to criticize other branches of government overseas. And it’s embarrassing to air our internal political disagreements in public in a foreign country. Biden violated both of those unwritten rules to score a few cheap political points with his rabid base back home while making America look like a banana republic.Fox...

A plan to tax lithium, which is widely used in the production of electric vehicle batteries, has been approved in California as part of the state’s efforts to generate revenue for environmental remediation projects. The decision was pushed despite reservations from players in the battery industry, some of whom argued that a lithium tax would harm the sector. Two of California’s most notable lithium companies such as Controlled Thermal Resources Ltd and EnergySource Minerals LLC have suggested that the tax could scare off potential clients. The California lithium tax was approved by Governor Gavin Newsom as part of a must-pass...

“The Most Canceled Man in America” has, in fact, been canceled. Nearly two weeks ahead of the libertarian conference FreedomFest, a lead conference organizer told The Daily Beast on Thursday night that officials had booted the holocaust-denying, Vladimir Putin-applauding, white supremacist rally-going Nicholas Fuentes from the conference’s lineup. Fuentes had initially been scheduled to appear on a Freedom Fest panel titled “How to Fight the Information Police.” Fuentes was also supposed to host a screening of his short film, “The Most Canceled Man in America,” according to an agenda obtained by The Daily Beast. But all of that was scratched,...

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is on a mission. He’s looking for highways with a racist past and is aiming to “help reconnect cities and neighborhoods racially segregated or divided by road projects.” Buttigieg is examining interstate highways, built with federal dollars, “where a piece of infrastructure cuts off a neighborhood or a community because of how it was built,” said Buttigieg in a speech announcing the $1 billion “Reconnecting Communities” program. “How it was built”? What does that mean? Does that statement refer to the racial makeup of businesses and residents? This is just more of the “disparate racial results”...

It's astonishing how out of touch the Joe Biden administration is with voters. We're talking about tin ears, brains and bodies.A reporter asked a White House official about those soaring energy prices at the pump -- the number one issue occupying likely voters' attention, according to a recent Rasmussen poll -- and got this:CNN: "What do you say to those families that say, 'listen, we can't afford to pay $4.85 a gallon for months, if not years?’" BIDEN ADVISOR BRIAN DEESE: "This is about the future of the Liberal World Order and we have to stand firm." pic.twitter.com/LWilWSo72S — Breaking911...

“Well, I guess the Communists know that the old people living in America today are not going to make the revolution. They are not the people who count. They count on the young people, and those who control the youth are the people who control the future of this country.”—Former Communist Bella V. Dodd, before the House Committee on Un-American Activities, 19531/In 2010, President Obama nationalized student tuition loans by making the government the “sole provider” of government-backed college tuition loans. By doing so, Obama effectively eliminated banks as the conduit of choice for government-backed tuition-loan financing. Similarly, when Obama...

Gov. Ron DeSantis says his administration will appeal a Florida judge’s ruling striking down a pro-life law to save babies from abortions. Less than one week after the Supreme Court upheld a 15-week abortion ban in the state of Mississippi, a Florida judge has issued a temporary restraining order blocking enforcement of a 15-week abortion ban Governor DeSantis signed to save babies from abortions. The law is estimated to save as many as 5,000 babies from abortions. “We’re here today to protect life,” Governor DeSantis said at a large ceremony to sign the bill back in April. “We’re here today...

In case you were wondering whether the Biden administration could do anything more to cripple the U.S. fossil fuel industry, the answer is yes.The Environmental Protection Agency is considering an “ozone violation designation” for portions of the Permian Basin, the largest oil field in the United States, according to Bloomberg News. The Permian Basin is located in West Texas and southeastern New Mexico. In a letter to President Joe Biden on Monday, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott warned that this action “could lead to skyrocketing prices at the pump by reducing production, increase the cost of that production, or do both.”Advertisement -...

Hot dogs are an integral part of summer – whether you're firing them up on your grill or watching competitive eaters shove them down their throats on the Fourth of July. But a brewery in Fort Worth, Texas, may be pushing the boundaries of summer hot dog consumption: They're releasing a hard seltzer brewed from leftover hot dog water. Martin House Brewing Company has, in large part, built their reputation on bizarre products, like beers made with salsa verde and mustard pickle. They also make plenty of regular beers, too, and like many other breweries, they've recently jumped on the...

The Biden administration did not give an explanation after it missed its own deadline to plan future oil and gas lease sales Thursday. Interior Secretary Deb Haaland vowed during a Senate hearing on May 19 to issue a legally-mandated program outlining proposed offshore lease sales over the next five years by Thursday. On Wednesday, Interior Department (DOI) spokesperson Melissa Schwartz confirmed the agency was "on track" to issue the plan by Thursday, according to E&E News. FIRST OIL SALES ON PUBLIC LAND UNDER BIDEN NET $22 MILLION FROM ENERGY COMPANIES Schwartz declined to comment on the delay in response to...

The shock of the ruling doesn’t seem to be there. Because it wasn’t a surprise. Now that the Opinion overruling Roe v. Wade is out, the reaction while furious, seems like resignation. That’s not to say someone else won’t try to physically attack Justices or otherwise commit violence. It’s also not to say that Democrats won’t try to make it into an electoral issue, though I don’t think that will work (people angered at the opinion likely vote Democrat anyway). But the shock of the ruling doesn’t seem to be there. Park officials said bison are wild and unpredictable, as recent incidents show. For the second time in three days, a visitor to Yellowstone National Park has been gored by a bison. Park officials say a 71-year-old woman from West Chester, Pennsylvania, and her daughter inadvertently approached the bison Wednesday as they were returning to their vehicle at a Yellowstone Lake trailhead. The woman’s injuries were not life-threatening. She was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Cody, Wyoming. The incident remains under investigation. On Monday, a 34-year-old Colorado man got too close to a bison and was thrown as he...
