UPDATE: The man killed Thursday morning has been identified as 32-year-old Robert Tyler White of Bunnlevel, North Carolina. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said a school resource officer tried to stop White as White attempted to break into a police vehicle. White resisted and tried to take the officer's firearm, ALEA said. He was then injured by gunfire and pronounced deceased, according to ALEA, who is investigating the incident. An Arizona man convicted of murder in the 1984 killing of an 8-year-old girl was put to death Wednesday in the state’s second execution since officials resumed carrying out the death penalty in May following a nearly eight-year hiatus. Frank Atwood, 66, died by lethal injection at the state prison in Florence for his murder conviction in the killing of Vicki Hoskinson, whose body was found in the desert, Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich said in a statement. There's a Social Security benefits cliff looming, with retirees seeing their checks garnished as soon as 2035. According to the latest federal Social Security report, the program has just enough funding to send out monthly checks to elderly and disabled Americans for 13 years. Beyond that, a 20% reduction in benefits is needed for the program to be sustainable.
