Red Flag Laws Aren’t ‘Common Sense’ Safety Measures. They’re 21st Century Jim Crow Attacks on the Constitution
The Stream ^ | June 8, 2022 | John Zmirak

After the Civil War, a majority of whites in Southern states weren’t ready to see ex-slaves become full citizens. Instead, they wanted them subjugated, deprived of power, bereft of land, retained as sharecroppers in quasi-slave arrangements, disarmed by the police, and terrorized by roving vigilantes such as the Klan.

As a condition of getting back their representation in Congress, their states had been forced to ratify the Reconstruction amendments. Those amendments abolished slavery, granted full citizenship to black Americans, guaranteed them their right to vote, and ensured them equal protection under the law.

White Southern politicians knew that these amendments were grossly unpopular with their voters. They knew that if blacks were allowed to vote, they might get enforced. So local “Jim Crow” laws cropped up all across the South, which nullified the effects of these well-intentioned amendments. Everything short of actual chattel slavery returned to the region, and persisted for a century, until the Civil Rights Movement. Even that might not have succeeded, had the U.S. not just fought a bloody war against an openly racist regime in Nazi Germany.

Christians and Deplorables Are the New Freedmen

So we see how profoundly wrong things can go in America. How fundamental rights of citizens can be stripped away by fearful, contemptuous, or simply hateful elites.

We’re at a similar turning point today. Those who wield power and own most of the wealth in America stand in the place of white Southern elites and their voters. They want to strip those whom they loathe and fear (this time not 10% of the country as in 1870, but at least half the population) of fundamental rights.

The writer makes a good comparison with Christians and Trump supporters and Blacks in the South.

Victor Davis Hanson has written an essay making similar points.

Anyone who doesn’t think Red Flag laws will become a political weapon is not paying attention.

Arnold Toynbee wrote years ago that those in power need an internal and external proletariat (enemy). In the first part of the 20th century blacks were the internal enemy and the Germans the external.

Nowadays it is Christians, conservatives, and Trump voters who are the internal enemy and Russia is the external enemy.

The Racist Roots of Gun Control.

SYG, Castle Doctrine and other self defense laws have roots in the push back against Jim Crow laws. Yet today's “black leaders” line up to help the Progressives destroy all of the progress made to secure black families.

Red Flag laws are snitch laws and they will be able to manipulate them by telling people who they want snitched on.

Don't go woke by trying to be hip, cool, and modern by capitalizing "black" to describe skin color.

Other common cases of being subservient to woke:

Using the term "sexual orientation" instead of "sexual preference" is woke.

Using “gender” instead of “sex” is woke.

Using “Gender affirming surgery” instead of “genital mutilation surgery” is woke.

Using "Undocumented immigrant" instead of "Illegal immigrant" or "Illegal alien" is woke.

Using the term "equity" (equal outcome) instead of "equality" (equal opportunity) is woke.

Affirmative Action = quotas = discrimination = woke.

Come on back to us from the woke side!

Note that all red flag laws have provisions such that the police can file the initial complaint.

This puts the government itself in a position to disarm anyone they please without real due process. Seizures can be initiated after 5pm, when no judge, but a magistrate, is available, and guess what, magistrates always rubber stamp it.

They can claim one of those famous “anonymous tips” if need be. As long as the police show up so they can claim to the magistrate “oh yeah, they’re bad news”, I saw them myself - away go the guns, after a thorough home search of course.

... until the Civil Rights Movement.

Their link is a loop. It goes right back to the web page, not an external site.

Now to the reason I am calling this out. I wanted to see which era he was
talking about in regards to the Civil Rights Movement, just to check.
Most people would credit the 1954 to 1968 era due to it's proximity in time.

And yet, the fight for the Civil Rights goes back much further than that.
I present to you, The Civil Rights Bill of 1866 (https://history.house.gov)

Even that might not have succeeded, had the U.S. not just fought a bloody war against an openly racist regime in Nazi Germany.

Sure enough, the modern version. I just needed to double check.

So much for the 14th Amendment which followed shortly
thereafter and historical accuracy. This man has no clue.

So the lingo of the day will become Swatting and Flagging.

"What happened to "insert name"?"

"They was Flaggin' some houses down on Fourth St., man.
I think they got "insert name" , but nobody saw nothing."

Yeah. Red Swat Laws would be a better name for them.

I’m sure the Dems would never be more accurate than that and call them Political Enemy Elimination Laws.

Wouldn’t it be fun to be a fly on the wall?

She reminds me of some horror movie psycho but I can’t remember which one. Kind of like Baron Harkonnen in Dune but not that one.

Heck, maybe the memory is from an actual nightmare. lol
