UPDATE: The man killed Thursday morning has been identified as 32-year-old Robert Tyler White of Bunnlevel, North Carolina. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said a school resource officer tried to stop White as White attempted to break into a police vehicle.
White resisted and tried to take the officer's firearm, ALEA said. He was then injured by gunfire and pronounced deceased, according to ALEA, who is investigating the incident. The agency's findings will be turned over to the Etowah County District Attorney's Office once the investigation is complete.

From earlier:
A shooting near a Gadsden elementary school Thursday morning has left one person dead, but authorities stress all children who were at the school safe.
Gadsden City Schools Superintendent Tony Reddick said a man appeared at Walnut Park Elementary School and tried to enter the building through several doors. After officials noticed him on campus, they put the school on lockdown and called for police.

Next up. Trying to tie totally unrelated police activity into school violence.
The doors were all locked. Unlike Uvalde where the very first door the shooter went to was unlocked.
Spent a lot of summers with grandparents right outside of Gadsden. Roll Tide.
DRT in police lingo (Dead Right There).
Bunnlevel
Not to be confused with eye level.
If White on White is white on white, justified. If White on White is White on Black, George Kirby all over again.
Don’t tread on Gadsden...
That’s what should happen.
Initial Google search indicates he was a “gentle giant”.
No pics of the LEO.
This is a very undeveloped story. A lot more to come? Or it will disappear tomorrow?
THere is a Bunlevel in North Carolina. A woman once said she was from Bunlevel. I said “Well, we are all from Bunlevel at some point....”
I’m curious, what were children doing at school? Summer vacation started around three weeks ago. Unless the school was conducting a summer program.
They were doing a summer literacy camp at the school.
“A summer literacy program was reportedly going on inside and it was believed there was around 35 children attending. Roughly 20 other students that were participating in the Parks and Recreation summer camp was also on campus, according Gadsden Times.”
If a suspect gets in a scuffle with a cop and attempts to take his firearm, then the suspect has given the cop just cause to shoot him. The gentle giant in Missouri tried to take the cops gun, then kept charging back at him.
Thank you for the info.
Thank you.
