A flurry as court convened and lawyers start talking to judge, but no audio in media room so swarm of reporters dash up to the courtroom to catch tail end. The jury had asked to see exhibits 406 and 207, I think. Court adjourns again./3

WASHINGTON (AP) — Diane Murray struggled with her decision all the way up to Election Day. But when the time came, the 54-year-old Georgia Democrat cast a ballot in last week’s Republican primary for Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger. While state law allowed her to participate in either party’s primary, she said it felt like a violation of her core values to vote for the Republican. But it had to be done, she decided, to prevent a Donald Trump -backed “election denier” from becoming the battleground state’s election chief. “I feel strongly that our democracy is at risk, and that...

Yes, its the housing market’s version of “March Madness!” The Case-Shiller National Home Price Index for March was released this morning and it was a doozy. The Case-Shiller National home price index YoY accelerated to a whopping +20.55%. And at +20.55%, it is the fastest price growth in history! Even the peak of the infamous 2000s housing bubble was only +14.51% in September 2005. Why do we have historic highs in home price growth? The Federal Reserve’s monstrous Covid stimulus (green line) is still in place. Washington DC is the slowest growing metro area in the US while Tampa FL,...

Missouri cops shot a woman five times as she tried to flee her arrest for a suspected armed carjacking — even though she had shown that she was unarmed and told them that she was pregnant, according to a horrified witness. “They shot her! Oh my God, they shot her!” a woman repeatedly cried out in footage she filmed in the aftermath of Friday night’s officer-involved shooting in Kansas City. “What the f–k!” she gasped as she filmed the shot woman on the ground. “Oh my God, they shot her and they still putting her in handcuffs!” Police confirmed to...

President Joe Biden is not happy about his staffers repeatedly stepping in to clarify his statements, according to a report, and feels it necessary to remind them he is the president. NBC News reports Biden hates the “clean-up campaign” telling his advisers it “undermines him and smothers the authenticity that fueled his rise.”

A trio of fearless thieves emptied the shelves inside a high-end makeup store in Los Angeles as stunned shoppers watched in amazement amid the nation’s ongoing shoplifting crisis, according to a video clip posted online. The 47-second recording shows the crooks wearing hoodies over their heads as they grab various cosmetics and stuff them into black trash bags. “Oh, my God. Oh, my f–king God,” one woman said while recording the heist on her cellphone. “F–king lowlifes.” At least two workers stood nearby as the scene played out, then followed the shoplifters as they scurried toward the exit before calmly...

(Posted as a VANITY because it is a Twitter thread and not a 'news story') quote: Eric Kaufmann @epkaufm · 1/15 A thread: The LGBT share among young Americans tripled in the last decade to 21%. Trans & non-binary identification may be up as much as 1000%. My new @CSPICenterOrg report shows that this is, as @billmaher suggested, shaped by social trends: quote: 2/Data from @GSS_NORC shows that LGBT identification has been diverging from same-sex behavior. LGBT identity has risen 11 points among Americans under 30 since 2008, but same-sex behavior has only risen 4 points quote: 3/ For example,...

Behind all the frenzied virtue-signaling and ritualistic condemnations, it is hard not to discern loads of malice; and it is directed mostly by white people against other white people. Last week, according to USA News, “the Senate failed to pass a bill to create domestic terrorism offices within federal law enforcement agencies in the wake of mass shootings at a New York grocery store and a Texas elementary school.” This bill, which went down to defeat after a 47-47 deadlock in the Senate, was long overdue according to the prevailing media narrative. Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) insisted that for...

Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, also known around the world by his stage name Sidhu Moose Wala, was killed Sunday evening while driving his car in Mansa, a district in northern India's Punjab state. Moose Wala, 28, was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead. Punjab state's top police official VK Bhawra said the initial investigation has revealed the killing to be an inter-gang rivalry. A day before the attack, the Punjab government had pulled security cover for over 400 individuals, including Moose Wala, in a bid to clamp down on VIP culture, local media reports said. Most of his...

Following Germany’s post-Weimar record high inflation print, the European Union’s consumer price inflation data this morning surged to a record high at +8.1% YoY (notably hotter than the +7.8% YoY expected). The inflation impulses are broad based across all the major European nations… Source: BloombergThe surge in European inflation is dominated by energy prices rising, and food costs… Source: BloombergFinally, we note that the recently agreed EU import ban on a major portion of Russian oil, meanwhile, risks further stoking pressure on prices. The report comes just 10 days before a crucial ECB meeting where officials are set to announce...

Open Carry, Maryland Interesting experience in Maryland, with the Baltimore Police. The driver is a firearms instructor. He's licensed, got a Glock on his chest and another gun in concealed appendix carry. He also has a full auto, loaded, in his trunk. He got pulled over for a problem with his license plate. Everything ended well. He provides a good example of how best to deal with the police in situations like this.

"1984" had its Ministry of Truth, the Soviets had their Gulag. Today’s Russians, like their kindred spirits among the American left, may be less overt in policing speech but don’t let a less visible barbarity fool anyone into believing that the goal is any less of an assault on free speech. Current Russian law punishes speech or public engagement that questions Russia’s invasion of Ukraine or even protests that call it a war. As University of Massachusetts Amherst Associate Professor Lauren McCarthy puts it, "public activities aimed at discrediting the use of Russia’s military," become "a criminal offense if committed...

A rally is planned outside Granada Hills Charter High School Tuesday to protest the banning of unvaccinated students from graduation events. The protest includes members of GHC Parents United, Moms on the Ground, The Unity Project, Let Them Breathe, and other groups unhappy with the school’s policy. Parents are saying that they are being discriminated against because their kids chose to work remotely instead of receiving COVID-19 vaccinations.

A woman who dubbed herself a “professional booster” after she was nabbed for shoplifting earlier this year has been arrested again — for allegedly robbing the same Manhattan drug store 10 times, police said. Michelle Mckelley, 42, now has 108 arrests under her belt following her latest bust Wednesday, when she was charged with 10 separate petty larcenies from the Rite Aid at Second Avenue and East 96th Street, cops and a police source said. “She has 108 arrests!” the Manhattan cop exclaimed. “What are they waiting for 200 arrests to hold her? When does it stop? It’s making a...

Hours after Whole Foods announced it was leaving Englewood late last month, community members gathered at the Go Green Community Fresh Market on 63rd Street for an event with the rapper Freeway. The event at Fresh Market, which the nonprofit Inner-City Muslim Action Network opened in March, had been scheduled before the Whole Foods announcement was made public. But the evening turned into “an oasis and a hub for healing,” said Sana Syed, IMAN’s director of strategic initiatives. “There was a lot of hope, there was a lot of healing and there was a lot of drive,” Syed said of...

Pfizer has asked a U.S. court to throw out a whistleblower’s lawsuit on the basis that the company can’t be guilty of fraud, abuse, and protocol violations in its COVID Vaccine clinical trials because its contract with the U.S. government allowed them to skirt regulations and federal laws that typically apply to government contracts. In other words, Pfizer was allegedly able to make false statements to the government, and lie about the safety and efficacy of its product, “because the government was in on it with them!” according to Robert Barnes, the lead lawyer in the case. The whistleblower, Brook...

Amid a rolling series of calamities and sinking approval ratings, the president’s feeling lately is that he just can’t catch a break — and that angst is rippling through his party. WASHINGTON — Faced with a worsening political predicament, President Joe Biden is pressing aides for a more compelling message and a sharper strategy while bristling at how they’ve tried to stifle the plain-speaking persona that has long been one of his most potent assets. Biden is rattled by his sinking approval ratings and is looking to regain voters’ confidence that he can provide the sure-handed leadership he promised during...

Rewarding the FBI with a half-billion in tax dollars would not just be a slap in the face to Republican voters but also to every victim of the FBI’s shoddy, unaccountable practices. The day before FBI Director Christopher Wray explained to a Senate appropriations subcommittee why his department deserves a $527.8 million raise in 2023, his agents were credited with foiling an ISIS-linked plot to assassinate George W. Bush. An Iraqi national was arrested on May 25 and charged with attempting to smuggle four other Iraqis into the United States then “murder” the former president in retaliation for the war...
