A furious female skateboarder has slammed Red Bull for sponsoring a contest where she placed second to her trans rival. Taylor Silverman claims she and other cisgender female competitors were sidelined by officials at the Red Bull Cornerstone Contest, where she placed second and received a $2,750 award. Trans skateboarder Lillian Gallagher was awarded $5,000 for placing first and winning two separate divisions - money that Silverman says should have been given to her. Silverman, who has been skateboarding for 11 years, said when she tried to reach out to officials to 'do the right thing even if it's not...

Recent events in New York have brought the grim realities of America’s gun violence problem into sharp relief. In both instances the perpetuators took advantage of the nation’s lax gun laws and legally purchased firearms whose lethality would have been unimaginable to the authors of the Second Amendment. The easily modified semi-automatic AR-15 used by the white supremacist shooter who killed ten people in Buffalo on Saturday was two hundred times more lethal than the revolutionary muskets that helped win the American Revolution. This attack came one month after a shooter with a Glock 9-millimeter handgun injured 23 people in...

In patients with serious and long-term COVID-19, disturbed blood coagulation has often been observed. Now, researchers have discovered that the body's immune system can affect the spike protein on the surface of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, leading to the production of a misfolded spike protein called amyloid. The research team studies illnesses which are caused by misfolded proteins, of which Alzheimer's disease in the brain is the most well-known example. The researchers noted that there are many similarities between COVID-19-related symptoms and those which are observed in illnesses caused by misfolded proteins. Using computer simulation, the researchers discovered that the coronavirus'...

With Pennsylvania’s county election administrators continuing to chew through mail-in and absentee ballots Thursday, the front-runners in the nearly deadlocked Republican U.S. Senate primary offered both argued that their paths to victory remained wide open. That case seemed a little bit easier for Dr. Mehmet Oz’s team Thursday night, as the cardiac surgeon-turned-daytime television superstar still held a 1,123 vote lead over former Wall Street executive David McCormick. As of presstime for this story, that broke down as follows: Oz, 417,719, or 31.2 percent; McCormick 416,596, or 31.1 percent. That’s with an estimated 98.6 percent of the vote in, according...

A Russian defeat in Ukraine makes America safer. In April 1941 Germany had conquered all of Europe except England, while its Axis partner Japan had conquered most of Southeast Asia. At this historical moment, the Gallup Company took a poll of Americans on this question: Should America – until then a non-combatant – get involved in the war. 81% of Americans said no. But all that changed with the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7 in that same year. If the United States had not entered World War II, we would have faced a world united under Nazi rule ready...

In what is being hailed as the first movie to feature an all-LGBTQ cast in every role, Billy Eichner’s romantic sex comedy ‘Bros’ is here to let you know that yes, gay people do have sex. Initial findings from the Distal versus Proximal Radial Artery Access for Cardiac Catheterization and Intervention (DIPRA) study were presented today. The single center, randomized-controlled trial evaluated outcomes of hand function and effectiveness of conventional proximal radial artery (PRA) access compared to distal radial artery (DRA) access for cardiac catheterization. Current guidelines for patients undergoing percutaneous intervention recommend PRA access. A complication of PRA is radial artery occlusion, or a blocking of the vessel, which can compromise the access of artery for future coronary bypass surgery, dialysis or other cardiovascular procedures. DRA has the potential to preserve the radial access but...

I hate and renounce the corrupt, inhumane governments of the country of my birth, Australia. Ron DeSantis was right to warn Americans about Australia last fall and Americans have subsequently shown very good judgement in lifting him to number three in the opinion polls for the American presidential election in 2024. There are a few wonderful libertarians in Australia who give me hope. There is Krystle Mitchell who served with Victoria Police for 16 years but has resigned to warn that the current socialist left lead government of Victoria has "far more control over Victoria Police than the community should...

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba has said that Russia began to sharply lose interest in peace talks with Ukraine after the meeting of the foreign ministers of both countries in Istanbul in March. "The negotiations were like a match. First you set it on fire, it burns strongly and brightly. Then, the longer it burns, the smaller it becomes, and eventually disappears. There remains only a burnt match, which is thrown to the ground and rubbed with a foot. About the same thing happened with the negotiations," Kuleba said on the air of the national telethon on...
