Police in York Region have released new video footage of a series of brazen carjackings as they warn drivers about a spike in violent incidents targeting luxury vehicles. In the first incident, the suspects appear to deliberately stage a collision in a busy intersection. One of them then gets out of their damaged car and flags down a vehicle the pair were targeting. But instead of asking for help, the suspect forcefully pulls the driver out of the vehicle and then...

A Florida church is being slammed for planning a 'youth pride concert' that features a drag show, 'forbidden queer literature' and asks children attending to list their pronouns. The free one-day event for children between the ages of 12 to 18 is scheduled to take place on May 21 at Naples United Church of Christ. The church's pastor, who bills himself as a 'progressive', Rev. Dawson B. Taylor resigned last week, according to Florida's Voice. It's unclear whether his resignation was as a result of the backlash to the event. The reverend was previously accused of planning to host a...

I tried out the new Star Trek series: "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds". It mostly reminded me of the original series. It's pleasantly non-woke. Very good initial pilot. Great acting. No over-the-top special effects. It had the old Star Trek little moral at the end, just like the original series. There's even a Lt. Kirk. And Cadet Uhura mans the communications. If they stay non-woke and just tell good stories, they have a new fan. Oh, and the very best part? You know how Captain Kirk's catch phrase was "Engage"? And how Captain Picard's catch phrase was "Make it so."?...

During an interview on MSNBC on Monday, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) argued that social media platforms should be regulated, but “You don’t have to regulate speech, you can regulate misinformation. You could say, you can’t yell ‘Fire!’ in a theater.” There are “many ways you can abrogate speech rights that are consistent with the Constitution.” And that for “an 18-year-old to develop such hatred in his heart through media platforms that do not have any regulation is a problem. And so, we need commonsense, thoughtful regulation.” Gillibrand stated, “The problem is, you have a mentally ill 18-year-old who had this...

For the past few weeks, western European politicians have been worried about what will happen if Russia wins the war. However, now they are concerned about something else: what might happen if Ukraine really wins. This is reported by the publication Politico, referring to officials of Western countries. "Ukraine's recent success in ousting Russian troops from some of the Occupied Territories has prompted leaders from France to Germany and Italy to conclude that a once unthinkable victory for Ukraine is now quite possible," the report said. In particular, European politicians are thinking about the fact that the "humiliation" of Russia...

The year-to-date homicide total in Chicago has already topped 200, but the city’s Amphibian-American mayor isn’t worried about that. In an average week, 11 people are murdered in Chicago. You might think reducing this deadly violence would be a top priority for Mayor Lori Lightfoot, a task that would absorb all of her attention. Nevertheless, she manages to find time to spend on Twitter, warning her “community” about the real danger — the United States Supreme Court. In the aftermath of the city’s deadliest year since 1996, how does a “call to arms” against the Supreme Court fit on Lightfoot’s...

They/Them, an upcoming horror film starring Kevin Bacon and set within a “gay conversion camp”, has officially received a date for its release to NBC’s Peacock streaming platform. Bacon has done his lion’s share of interestingly offbeat horror films in his illustrious career, starting all the way back in 1980 with Friday the 13th. Some were hits, some were misses, and some sadly did not get the attention they deserve. Stir of Echoes, for instance, is still a spooky-good forgotten gem. The same can be said of the heir to the genre’s ghostly and bloody throne, Blumhouse. Popularizing niche franchises...

“‘Pray, then, in this way’” (Matthew 6:9). Over the years people have had misunderstandings about the Lord’s Prayer (more accurately, the Disciples’ Prayer) that need correcting. First, Jesus’ words were not meant to be repeated as a formal prayer. The disciples had asked Him how to pray, not what to pray. And He hardly would have given them a prayer to recite after He had just warned against “meaningless repetition” (v. 7). Second, people often don’t realize that Jesus’ teaching here is simply a skeleton or pattern for prayer. As believers, we are to flesh out the skeleton with our...

The senators bucked their leaders -- including Mitch McConnell -- who traveled to Kyiv over the weekend to meet with Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Eleven Republican senators bucked their leadership and voted against a motion advancing a $40 billion security assistance package for Ukraine on Monday, a sign of growing GOP opposition to U.S. efforts aimed at countering Russian President Vladimir Putin’s bloody three-month-old invasion there. The security package isn’t expected to pass until later this week because a single Republican senator, Rand Paul of Kentucky, is objecting to a quick vote on the measure…, …Ten other Republican senators joined...
