11 Republican Senators Vote Against $40 Billion In Security Assistance For Ukraine
Huffpost ^ | May 16, 2022 | Igor Bobic

The senators bucked their leaders -- including Mitch McConnell -- who traveled to Kyiv over the weekend to meet with Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Eleven Republican senators bucked their leadership and voted against a motion advancing a $40 billion security assistance package for Ukraine on Monday, a sign of growing GOP opposition to U.S. efforts aimed at countering Russian President Vladimir Putin’s bloody three-month-old invasion there.

The security package isn’t expected to pass until later this week because a single Republican senator, Rand Paul of Kentucky, is objecting to a quick vote on the measure…,

…Ten other Republican senators joined Paul in voting against the motion to advance the security package on Monday; many of these senators made supportive statements about Ukraine’s plight following Russia’s invasion: Marsha Blackburn (Tenn.) John Boozman (Ark.) Mike Braun (Ind.) Mike Crapo (Idaho) Bill Hagerty (Tenn.) Josh Hawley (Mo.) Mike Lee (Utah) Roger Marshall (Kan.) Tommy Tuberville (Ala.)

The list of lawmakers hindering aid to Ukraine has been steadily rising over the past month. Last week, 57 Republicans voted against the Ukraine assistance bill in the House. Two months ago, only three GOP House members voted against a separate security package.

Supporters of former President Donald Trump and right-wing pundits, including Fox News host Tucker Carlson, have ramped up rhetoric against U.S. support for Ukraine aid. Trump also called into question the spending measure last week, linking it to the shortage of baby formula that has been attributed to a safety recall and supply chain issues.

Good news on this front!

In a related bit of news, Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine is running a MONTHLY deficit of $5 billion. Expect requests to cover this soon.

China wins if we keep spending money we don’t have in this country borrowed from “Chicom”.

China also wins when we beat up on Russia and Russia is forced to turn into an ever closer relationship with them.

Most of our politicians are on a course that helps China.

Why?

Remember this when you vote tomorrow if you are voting.

BOTH Tennessee Senators stood with Rand...there is still a bit of room for any rock-ribbed conservatives that wish to move here.

Does this constitute a filibuster? Or is it already going up for a vote?

Tucker's not exactly a big fan of Trump. Liked the direction he was taking things but doesn't like the man or his tweeting.

$40 billion is just the down payment. Endless war means endless costs. And the peace will cost even more. Ukraine estimates it will cost close to a trillion dollars to rebuild the country.

Nobody knows EXACTLY where this $40b stash I’s going.

Or where the billions of Wuhan Virus stash went.

Or where the billions of “infrastructure” stash is going.

We DO know our grandkids are paying for ALL of it.

And we want to keep on voting for the same people thinking they are “Patriots” these phonies wrapping themselves in flags, cops and soldiers while they sell us out.

“In a related bit of news, Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine is running a MONTHLY deficit of $5 billion. Expect requests to cover this soon.”

DC has his back. They love debt spending & internationalism. They care more about Ukrainian gibbedats than rural counties in the USA.(Let that sink in, DC likes foreigners more than Americans.)

According to Senator Sasse this is a “1776 moment,” so we need to support the Western puppet government in Kiev, regardless of blood, treasure, and diplomacy.

Conservative War Hawks have many allies in the Russia Ukraine War, most of them are posting at Daily Kos & Democrat Underground. (Birds of feather??????)

Bannon has been yelling from the rooftops for all to call their Senators.

Looks like it had a bit of an effect.

Should be MANY more Senators saying NO. WAY.
