BUFFALO, N.Y. They’re quieter and better for the climate. But snow and water create new technological challenges for designers. Battery-powered snowmobiles produced by Taiga Motors at a charging port in Saint-Paulin, Quebec.Credit...Nasuna Stuart-Ulin for The New York Times STOWE, Vt. — Snowmobiles are part of the winter soundtrack in this part of Vermont, at their worst shattering the stillness of the forest like motorcycles on skis. But the motorized sleds bouncing along a wooded mountain trail in February were silent except for the whoosh of metal runners on snow. The machines, made by a start-up Canadian company, Taiga, were battery-powered — the...

Ukraine's armed forces released a video on Sunday (May 15) saying it said showed servicemen firing new U.S. M-777 howitzers at the front line in the east of the country. The video showed its soldiers firing an artillery gun. Reuters could not independently verify the video. The U.S. embassy in Kyiv said on Sunday that Washington has delivered all but one of the 90 artillery pieces they were due to send. The M-777 howitzer consignment is part of a huge outlay of weapons from Washington to help Ukraine fend off Russia's invasion, which began on Feb. 24. The M-777 is...

The White House is claiming that the debate about childhood gender medicine is settled—even as numerous international experts are coming forward to say it‘s not.

Biden’s blizzard of initiatives was unleashed on Transgender Day of Visibility. Timing matters in politics, and Biden’s may be a little off. Americans are starting to get their first glimpse of gender medicine as an intensely contested field; it’s nowhere near settled science. For several years, big left-leaning media outlets have told a simple story in which the medicalised gender-affirming approach is lifesaving, at least for those kids who say they can’t live without it. It follows, we’re told, that any restriction is a suicidally dangerous denial of health care, there being supposedly no alternative to hormonal and sometimes surgical interventions.

Following Friday’s catastrophic new credit data, which saw the fewest new loans in half a decade, and after this morning’s report that Chinese authorities allowed a further cut in mortgage loan interest rates for first-time homebuyers in another push to prop up its property market and revive a flagging engine of the world’s second-largest economy, few expected any upside surprises from Monday’s economic data dump out of China, but even fewer expected anything quite as bad as what Beijing just reported. With Europe, UK and the US all on the verge of recession, China just boldly took the step to...

The Brood X cicada rises from its slumber once every 17 years, but some of these guys overslept. Experts say it’s not uncommon to see some cicadas come a year or two later. An expert from Mount Saint Joseph University says these stragglers coming out of the ground now has to do with soil temperatures. Just like us, cicadas like the warmth and once the soil gets to a temperature over 64 degrees, they start to rise to the occasion once again.

,/A>The Washington Post is reporting the shift from the White House to disparage their political opposition with the terms “MAGA”, “Ultra-MAGA” and President Trump as the “Great MAGA King,” came from a six-month poll study led by Anita Dunn, the latest senior advisor in the White House. Keep in mind, a few days ago White House spokesperson Jen Psaki said the terminology “ultra-MAGA” was an “organic utterance” from Joe Biden. Whoops. WASHINGTON DC – […] Biden’s attempt to appropriate the “MAGA” brand as a political attack was hardly accidental. It arose from a six-month research project to find the best...

After sixteen months of ruining the country’s economy and putting the American people in true danger, resident Joe Biden has decided to focus on demonizing his predecessor in advance of the 2022 midterm election. He realizes that his party cannot run “on the issues.” In a recent CNN poll, 50% of the respondents chose the economy as the top issue. It was the overwhelming selection as the most important concern facing Americans. Not surprisingly, among the survey participants, a huge majority, 77%, believe the economy is in “bad” shape and 55% view Biden’s economic policies as the culprit. With inflation...

A Russian lawmaker has issued a fiery warning that Warsaw is next in line for “de-nazification” after Poland’s Prime Minister penned an op-ed calling Russia’s imperialist “Russkiy Mir” ideology a “cancer” consuming Russian society and a “deadly threat” to other countries. Oleg Morozov, chairman of Russia’s State Duma Committee on Control, wrote in a message on Telegram on Friday that the Polish leader’s comments have essentially made Poland a target. In his remarks, Morozov resorted to the Kremlin’s rhetoric in its military operation in Ukraine of so-called “de-Nazification,” a label Moscow has used to vilify its geopolitical adversaries and justify...

Many Republicans are seething in response to Biden's destructive agenda that has contributed to high inflation, ad exploding deficit, urban lawlessness, and an out-of-control Southern border. More and more Americans are eager to turn their anger into a November landslide against Democrats. They're tired of the rampant lawlessness, the irresponsible DAs unwilling to prosecute criminals, and the deficit spending that has unleashed inflation impacting the lives of every American. The recent leak about the reversal of Roe v. Wade has given woke extremists all they need to justify angry, even violent, demonstrations. The decision is not even final, but liberals...

A top commodity research firm in Norway warns a “perfect storm” is brewing as European energy security worsens following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which could result in the tripling of natural gas prices. “There simply is not enough LNG around to meet demand. In the short term, this will make for a hard winter in Europe. “For producers, it suggests the next LNG boom is here, but it will arrive too late to meet the sharp spike in demand. The stage is set for a sustained supply deficit, high prices, extreme volatility, bullish markets, and heightened LNG geopolitics,” Kaushal Ramesh,...

PESHAWAR – Taking its cue from Sri Lanka, Pakistan is heading toward bankruptcy amid a highly charged political atmosphere marked by threats of a march on the capital Islamabad by the ousted prime minister, who is demanding fresh elections in the country by May 20. The political instability, analysts fear, may turn violent in the coming days, affecting Pakistan’s reeling economy, which has been headed toward default-like situation. The country’s foreign exchange reserves are falling, food inflation is spiraling and the Pakistani rupee is on slippery ground, showing massive 21.72% drop during the current financial year. Economic experts and analysts...

"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."Justice in a free country is an important concept. Around the globe, there are countries that still carry-on atrocities to this day – China being one of them with Uyghur concentration camps – and there is no punishment brought down on the ones responsible. In America, when we think about justice, we think about an individual who commits a crime and is later arrested by the authorities. Eventually, they go...

The data about police shootings just didn't add up, but no one at Thomson Reuters wanted to hear it. If you are a devoted reader of Common Sense, by now you have surely noticed a trend: workplaces—in some cases, storied institutions—that turn hostile to independent thinking seemingly overnight. That’s what Paul Rossi experienced at Grace Church School. It’s what Jennifer Sey went through at Levi’s. It’s what Antonio García Martínez dealt with at Apple. And Roland Fryer at Harvard. And Gordon Klein at UCLA. And Maud Maron at Legal Aid. Now comes the story of Zac Kriegman, who, until not...

Goldman Sachs Senior Chairman Lloyd Blankfein urged companies and consumers to gird for a US recession, saying it’s a “very, very high risk.” I am not surprised. Take a look at The Fed’s Overnight Reverse Repo operations. As inflation surged in 2021 and 2022, banks are parking more funds at The Fed. Fear? We are seeing the S&P 500 futures down today after a nice rally on Friday. The &P 500 forward 12-month P/E ratio is back to pre-Covid, pre Federal spending surge, pre Fed monetary Stimulypto of 2016. Goldman Sachs see the 10-year Treasury yield rising to 3.3%. That...

15 Explanations For The Slow But Steady Pace Of Russia’s Special Military Operation The present piece will attempt to provide some cogent explanations for helping everyone better understand the evolving military-strategic dynamics at play that are responsible for this. Observers across the world are debating the reasons why Russia’s ongoing special military operation in Ukraine is still raging despite over 80 days of fighting. Critics and supporters of that Eurasian Great Power alike largely seemed in agreement that the Kremlin would crush Kiev within a few days, if not a couple weeks at the absolute most. That obviously hasn’t happened,...

IPray For The Peace of JerusalemGenesis 1The Beginning 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. 3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day. 6 And God said, “Let...
