Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Genesis 1

The Beginning

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.

6 And God said, “Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.” 7 So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so. 8 God called the vault “sky.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day.

9 And God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” And it was so. 10 God called the dry ground “land,” and the gathered waters he called “seas.” And God saw that it was good.

11 Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so. 12 The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. 13 And there was evening, and there was morning—the third day.

14 And God said, “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years, 15 and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so. 16 God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. 17 God set them in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth, 18 to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day.

20 And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.” 21 So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.” 23 And there was evening, and there was morning—the fifth day.

24 And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind.” And it was so. 25 God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.

26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals,[a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

27  So God created mankind in his own image,
    in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.

28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

29 Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so.

31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD, Our God,
How Excellent Is Your Name Over All The Earth!
The Earth is Yours, and The Fullness Thereof,
You Have Created It,
and All It Contains.
It Is You,
The Eternal,
Omnipotent,
Omniscient,
Omnipresent,
Blessed Are You,
Oh LORD, Our God,
King of The Universe,
Who has Brought us to this Day!

You Are The SAME, Yesterday, Today, and Forever, And You Alone Are Worthy Of Praise and Worship! How We Long For Your Kingdom, When We Can Join With Your Angels and Sing:

HOLY, HOLY, HOLY, LORD, God of Power and Might, Heaven and Earth are Full of Your Glory!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

If you were with us yesterday, you will remember that I mentioned that the LAST Verse in the Christian Bible bears a strong relationship to the very FIRST Verse in The Torah. In the last part of the Book of Revelation, Jesus refers to Himself as "The Alpha and The Omega." Alpha and Omega are the first and the last letters in the Greek Alphabet. It is as if Jesus was saying: I am The A to Z". We know that He means that He is The Beginning and The End, The First and the Last, and is Eternal. For One to be both A and Z at the same time, One would have to be like a circle, with no beginning or ending.

The opening sentence of Today's Reading (the first line of the Book of Genesis) is elegantly rendered in the Original Hebrew with only seven words:

בראשית ברא אלהים את השמים ואת הארץ׃

The little word in the middle of this sentence is not really a word, but is just two letters: "את (Aleph-Tav)". Aleph is the First Letter in the Hebrew Alphabet, and "Tav" is the Last Letter. And so, "The A to Z" shows up right in the center of the seven words. In English, it would be rendered like this:

"In The Beginning, God (A to Z) created the Heavens and the Earth."

What makes it even more elegant is that, in Hebrew, there are three words on one side of the Aleph-Tav and three words on the other. Thus, with the Aleph-Tav standing high in the center, with three words on either side, the sentence forms a visual picture of the Seven-Branched Menorah, which is the Symbol of the Modern State of Israel. It also places the Eternal God into the very Center of everything, holding it all together (see Colossians 1:17).

Since we just finished a very long topical study on the subject of Prayer, I thought it would be nice to just start at the very beginning and read the Bible as Narrative. The Book of Genesis is a very good place to start.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Fascinating, Mary-Lou! I've never before noticed, nor seen a reference to, the central AlephTav of Genesis 1:1--yours is my first. I looked it up just now on the Hebrew interlinear, and sure enough. Thank you, so much!

And your extrapolation to the menorah is just lovely. Such a beautiful picture crafted by God and Moses.

So. AMEN to that, and AMEN to peace for Jerusalem.

Great start-A to Z.

Also note:
So God created mankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.

No problem using the word “man” and that there are two genders.

How far we’ve fallen.

Joining in prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem and for our beloved America.

AMEN, thank you for prayer, the worship and the lesson. Looking forward to our time together. Praying for the Peace of Jerusalem, for the Salvation of all Israel, for a growing of grace and knowledge of our LORD JESUS CHRIST for ourselves and our believing children, for a quickening and repentance in the hearts of both our prodigals and our lost. May GOD be gloried now and forever.
