Most of us that studied (actual) history in high school knows the story of how our Constitutional Republic came to be. According to history, the Colonists in Boston were tired of paying exorbitant taxes to King George for basic things such as tea and other necessities. They were tired of living under the thumb of the monarchy with hardly (if any at all) representation, and simply put, it was tough times back in 1775 in New England. Today, he would be called a “right-wing loon.” Today, he would be labeled as an insurrectionist, purveyor of tin-foil-hat messages, and likely be...

Claiming that "the inflation we are seeing now is due to the unwarranted prosperity inflicted on the country by former President Trump's tax cuts," Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY) called for "the repeal of those cuts and the implementation of additional levies as needed." "Inflation occurs when too much money is in the hands of consumers," the Senator contended. "Flush with cash they have little incentive to economize. They feel free to indulge their whims and selfish desires. Taking this money away from them via higher taxes will stifle these anti-social spending habits. With more money safely in the hands of...

During a 2020 protest over the murder of George Floyd, the Los Angeles police had fired projectiles at the crowd and one of the shots caused a man to lose part of his testicle. On Wednesday, the Los Angeles City Council approved paying the $300,000 lawsuit settlement, according to the Los Angeles Times. David Bond filed a federal lawsuit last year, claiming that the LAPD used "excessive and unreasonable force" when he was peacefully protesting and was then shot. He originally asked for $2 million in damages and claimed that he has "permanent disfigurement" after being shot by the projectile....

The Nurture and Admonition of the Lord. In the Garden of Gethsemane, when the High Priest came to take Jesus away, Peter took out his sword and cut off the high priest servant. Jesus could have scolded him, “what is it with you, Peter?” “It is in one ear, and off with another!” Instead, Jesus held up the ear and said, “listen up, I could have called down a legion of angels to protect me!” Jesus knew that Peter would deny him, “Not so, Lord”, Peter thought that in his own love he could be faithful. At the cross, the...

President Biden’s approval rating increased slightly over the past two months, according to a new poll, but the latest numbers illustrate frustrations the American public still have with Democrats on a number of issues. The poll, conducted by The Washington Post and ABC News, found that 42 percent of respondents approve of the way Biden is handling his job as president — up 5 percentage points from February’s 37 percent, which marked his low point in Post-ABC News surveys.

OPINIONWhat we do know for certain:Russia has invaded Ukraine. O.K., that may sound (and it does) as a stupid statement. Now one has to ask, “why?” For the past couple of years, Vladimir Putin has said to Ukraine, “stay neutral, do not join NATO, and we will get along fine.” Yes, I am paraphrasing, but that was the gist of the warnings. Ukraine, for whatever reason, kept pressuring NATO for admittance. Putin kept saying, “don’t do it; we need a buffer between the Motherland and all of the NATO rockets and fighter jets.” President Trump knew the reasoning behind Putin’s...

This ominous warning came not from some deranged psychopath – like the ones who regularly demand Kyiv to be nuked on Russian state TV. These were the words of the top diplomat of the Russian Federation. In diplomatic parlance, Lavrov essentially admitted that their vaunted offensive in Donbas is stalling, the war is lost, and Russia has nothing to counter Western weapons pouring in Ukraine. Politically and militarily, Russia is backed into a corner. Since Putin can’t accept defeat, the Kremlin is indicating that nuclear weapons are on the table as its last resort in this war. …. On the...

Russia is now openly discussing nuclear war in Europe. Yes, you read that right. Governor Asa Hutchinson (R-AR) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that former President Donald Trump running in 2024 would not affect his decision to run. Anchor Dana Bash said, “Are you seriously considering running for president?” Hutchinson said, “I am, but you’ve got to get through, of course, this year, but that’s an option that’s on the table. That’s one of the reasons that I was in New Hampshire. You had Secretary Mayorkas on, and the border security is such an incredible issue. That’s what the kind of thing I’m passionate about. Whenever you look at it, we...

The Yangshan Deepwater Container Terminal at the Port of Shanghai, where trade flows have slowed because of citywide COVID restrictionsA mixed bag of circumstances and time horizons are creating diverging narratives about whether shipping delays stemming from the shutdown of Shanghai and other Chinese cities are getting better or presage massive supply chain gridlock. There is no sign that Shanghai’s lockdown is easing anytime soon. Footage on social media shows steel fences being installed on public roads and inside residential compounds to keep people from traveling to other districts and moving in neighborhoods. On Monday, the Shanghai Health Commission reported...

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Sunday pledged the White House's new Disinformation Governance Board will not be used to monitor American citizens, despite mounting Republican concerns that it will be a tool for censorship and surveillance. 'There are people in the department who have a diverse range of views, and they’re incredibly dedicated to the mission,' he said when pledging the board will not step on free speech. Mayorkas also defended the board's new head Nina Jankowicz, a Russian disinformation expert who previously advised the Ukrainian government, from a slew of Republican accusations of hyperpartisanship. He lauded her as...

In the Wholly Epistemic and Cathartic Church, known popularly as Wokism, there are few accorded greater reverence than St. Barack the Inscrutable. His legendary inscrutablity enabled him to tangle the untangled and to bring regimentation, stagnation, and indignation of dogma where the heresy of free and open discourse had run wild. Among his many labors was setting up the Ladder of Intersectional Virtue as it is applied to politics. It stemmed from a mighty vision he had of peoples from every nationality and ethnic background streaming from everywhere in the globe to come to America. He thought, “This must be...

To hear secularists talk about the First Amendment, one would think the Founding Fathers had established it to prevent Americans from any exposure to religion, as if George Washington and company had drawn the Constitution up not for Christians but for atheists. From this perverse view has come decades of Supreme Court jurisprudence cementing in place a de facto tyranny of the atheistic minority. Under it, the First Amendment has gone from a protection for the religious to a protection against them. This completely ahistorical and unconstitutional view has unfortunately infected the thinking of many judges and politicians, even supposedly...
