I was in New Haven this past week for a couple of events at Yale, one of which was a William F. Buckley, Jr. Program debate for a primarily college-age audience on "common good conservatism." During the debate, I argued on behalf of the more "muscular," more forceful and less "liberal" approach to political economy and political gamesmanship frequently associated with the ascendant "New Right."My interlocutor, the amiable lawyer and National Review writer Dan McLaughlin, offered a substantive defense of orthodox "Reaganism" and an attitudinal appeal for conservatives to remain the "grown-ups in the room." According to this logic, it...

Liz Cheney (R-WY) that he would recommend then-President Donald Trump resign over the January 6 Capitol riot. Scarborough said McCarthy, who has denied saying he would recommend Trump resign, just never learned that “you can’t bow and scrape to Donald Trump enough” because “he will end up throwing you under the bus at the end no matter what.”

US President Biden went green and signed executive orders on his first day to limit oil and natural gas exploration of Federal lands and offshore (also, killed the Keystone Pipeline), helping to drive up energy prices and food prices. These orders begat inflation (also caused by the massive Covid relief by the Federal government). The highest inflation in 40 years begat The Federal Reserve signalling a tightening of Fed monetary policy … to fight the problem caused by The Fed in the first place … too much monetary stimulus for too long. Fiscal and monetary fanaticism and ignorance is forever...

Leaders, the most effective and successful ones, display solid integrity. And, effective leaders demonstrate courage and credibility. After you match McCarthy’s actions and decisions since January 6 against what he says on this newly released audio, it’s clear that Kevin McCarthy is violating many of the key leadership principles that credible leadership and executive development programs promote. It appears that while McCarthy is the GOP leader by title, he doesn’t bind himself to demonstrating effective leadership. As such, it’s now reasonable to conclude that McCarthy is just making a raw grab for power—leadership principles, integrity, honor and credibility be damned....

Can someone explain this talking point liberals are pushing that the FL/Disney kerfluffle might raise taxes on Florida residents, as police, fire, and other "infrastructure" services would need to be provided by local/city forces? Is this a legitimate consequence of the legislation, or of this just typical liberal fearmongering?

There's a weird trend going around, and it isn't a new TikTok dance, but rather food processing plants catching on fire. Since the beginning of this year, there have been a high number of food distributing and processing facilities catching on fire and creating massive damage. Why are so many food processing plants catching on fire? Social media and Twitter, in particular, are drawing attention to a trend occurring in numerous food processing plants — they are catching on fire. While some of them have been able to bounce back, others are stuck trying to rebuild and resume distributing goods,...

“‘It was said, “Whoever sends his wife away, let him give her a certificate of divorce”; but I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except for the reason of unchastity, makes her commit adultery; and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery’” (Matthew 5:31–32). Jesus no more approves of divorce than did Moses (cf. Matt. 19:6). Adultery, another reality God never condoned, is the only reason under the law that allows for dissolving of a marriage, with the guilty party to be put to death (Lev. 20:10). Because Jesus mentions this here and again in Matthew 19:9,...

The Lord has great joy that the cross has provided us with open access to himself. Indeed, the most glorious moment in history was when the temple veil was rent in two on the day that Christ died. At that moment, the earth trembled, the rocks split and the graves were opened. It was at this very moment that the benefit to God burst forth. In the instant that the temple veil — separating man from God’s holy presence — was torn asunder, something incredible happened. From that point on, not only was man able to enter into the Lord’s...
