FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Many Floridians have scoffed in disbelief at all the homebuying competition posed by out-of-state newcomers, and a new study shows just how eager they are to remove the welcome mat. Over 73% of Floridians polled believe that too many people have moved in from out of state, according to a survey from Mphasis Digital Risk, a tech company for residential real estate lending. “You are starting to see people getting really priced out of the market, or migration happening within the state itself to more affordable areas,” said Kim Lanham, senior vice president of Florida-based Digital...

I have been involved in financial markets for roughly 40 years, the news out this past Thursday was in my opinion more important than ANY announcement during those years. In fact, when I heard it, I thought of it as “the shot heard ’round the world”! But here we are Sunday and almost no discussion nor coverage of “Russia will demand trade payment from the unfriendly countries (the West) in gold…or rubles if they wish”. Are people so dumbed down they do not understand what was said? First a little background. Russia has been sanctioned by the West and even...

Former President Donald Trump's Georgia rally on Saturday failed to draw the number of supporters he has been accustomed to in the southern state, according to multiple journalists covering the event. Trump held the event in support of several of Georgia's Republican primary candidates in Commerce, Georgia, which is about an hour drive northeast of Atlanta. While the former president has regularly seen tens of thousands attend his events in the state, as well as other states across the country, journalists assessed that the crowd size was underwhelming this weekend.

PHILADELPHIA, PA—Champion swimmer Lia Thomas (she/her) is constantly being asked by her teammates to open pickle jars, and it's reportedly causing a great deal of confusion. Thomas reports she has never been more distracted. "I'm a teeny-tiny woman," said Thomas while effortlessly opening a pickle jar. "I don't know why they keep asking me to open these things. It's not like I'm biologically predisposed to being stronger." "Lia, darling, can you open this jar of Vlasic for me?" asked teammate Annabelle Humphrey. "They say it's the tastiest pickle you've ever had and I've just gotta' know!" Thomas has reportedly been...

Chris Rock will return to the stage for his ongoing comedy tour this week, after being slapped by Will Smith on the Oscars stage Sunday night over a joke he made about the actor’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. The on-screen altercation is one of the most dramatic unplanned events to occur in Academy Awards history, made even more peculiar by Smith accepting the award for best actor less than an hour after his outburst. However, the dramatic moment did seem to inspire some viewers to buy tickets to see Rock perform live; one secondary ticketing marketplace, TickPick, reports that they...

CNN Reliable Sources host Brian Stelter could not answer why there is a “rush to dismiss Hunter [Biden’s laptop investigation] as not a relevant story” while quite a bit of coverage has gone to conservative Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and the text messages of his wife, Ginni. While discussing the media’s influence on election narratives, the Reliable Sources panel on Sunday addressed whether Thomas should recuse himself in forthcoming Supreme Court election cases in light of his wife's texts that show she asked former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows to help overturn the 2020 elections. S.E. Cupp,...

Sen. John Marty, (DFL) Roseville, told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS his proposed bill which would require gun owners to have a license would, in the long run, help save lives. Under Marty’s proposed bill, anyone purchasing a gun at a commercial business, gun shows or through individual sales, would have to acquire a license which would require gun safety education and training similar to what people have to do when they obtain a driver’s license. “It seems to me that it is no more of a burden on lawful gun owners than driver’s licenses are a lawful burden on drivers,” said...

Iraq is building a concrete wall along part of its border with Syria to stop ISIS group militants from infiltrating, an Iraqi military source said Sunday. In the "first stage" of construction, a wall around "a dozen kilometers (seven miles) long and 3.5 meters (11 feet) high was built in Nineveh province", in the Sinjar area of northwest Iraq, a senior officer told AFP, requesting anonymity. Iraq, which shares a more than 600-kilometer long border with Syria, seeks to "put a stop to the infiltration of ISIS members" into its territory, the source added, without specifying how long the wall...

While America's national average gas price has come down a few cents from its all-time high of $4.331 reached on March 11, Americans are still being socked in the wallet every time they have to fill up. As many Republicans have pointed out, this isn't the way it has to be, nor has it always been this way. Meanwhile, President Biden and Democrats in Congress have blamed everything but themselves and their policies for the increase in gas prices that have risen along with prices on other consumer goods to four-decade highs since Biden took office. The scapegoat created by...

TALLAHASSEE — Opponents of a controversial 2021 law asked a federal judge this weekend to prevent the state from moving forward with surveys about “intellectual freedom and viewpoint diversity” on college and university campuses. Attorneys for students, faculty members and groups challenging the law filed an emergency motion Saturday seeking a temporary restraining order or a preliminary injunction. The motion said surveys could be distributed to college and university students and employees as soon as April 4. The opponents filed an overall challenge to the law last summer, contending that the surveys would violate the First Amendment. Under the law,...
