People who like their Oscars apolitical didn’t remotely get what they wanted as the ceremony quickly went political — but didn’t mention Vladimir Putin. Regina Hall, one of the three co-hosts alongside Wanda Sykes and Amy Schumer, set things up by talking about how “toxic masculinity” turned into “cruelty to women and children.” “Damn that Mitch McConnell,” quipped Sykes. They also closed out their opening jokes with a gibe at Florida’s Don’t Say Gay law. Sykes said it would be a great night, adding — “for you people in Florida, we’re gonna have a gay night.” They opened memorably as...

Former President Donald Trump would not be "capable" of holding peace talks in Moscow between Ukraine and Russia to stop the ongoing war, said John Bolton on Saturday. Bolton, who served as Trump's national security adviser from 2018 to 2019, said that such statesmanship would be out of Trump's character. "He's not capable of it," Bolton told The Palm Beach Post. "This would require thinking through a policy and considering the pluses and minuses, the risks and costs involved. That's just not what he does." Last Saturday, Trump said his personality kept the US out of war and added that...

Richard Engel, NBC News' chief foreign correspondent, told Chuck Todd on Sunday's "Meet The Press" that he doesn't believe Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was "overly impressed" with President Biden's comments in Poland about Russian President Vladimir Putin. Engel told Todd that the "Russian military strategy is all over the place." He said the strike on Lviv, a Ukrainian city 50 miles from the Polish border, was also likely meant to be a message to Biden. "A bit of an insult to say ‘we’re going to strike right near the Polish border while you're in Poland," Engel said.

CHONGQING -- Aiming to soften the blow from the Ukraine war, Chinese operators are offering financial incentives to users of transcontinental freight trains connecting to Russia and Europe. An operating company affiliated with Xi'an in March began covering war insurance payments for shippers transporting goods into and out of the Chinese city via the China-Europe Railway Express, or China Railway Express. This applies to all Russian and European destinations along the network. War insurance is being taken out for freight going through Russia, Belarus and Poland -- all neighbors to Ukraine. The policies hedge against the increased risk of damage...

WALL Street executive Edward Dowd alleges the Covid crisis was manufactured to solve governments’ out of control debt crises. His 20 years’ experience with high-profile financial crashes alerted him to a potential underlying fraud being used to wipe the books clean. Dowd watched the 1990s internet dotcom bubble burst and witnessed the 2008 global recession caused by fraudulent trading in the US property market, so has a nose for these things. And with governments still saddled with debt from both those disasters (the UK’s public debt is £2.1trillion, double pre-2008, while the US debt had tripled at $30trillion) something mighty...

The grant from the State Department's Bureau of...
