In Calvary Chapel San Jose v. Cody, (ND CA, March 18, 2022), two churches and their pastors sued the state of California and Santa Clara County over their COVID orders. As explained by the court: Beginning in March 2020, both the State and the County issued emergency orders that instituted capacity limits for certain types of facilities, restricted the practice of certain activities (including singing and chanting), and required individuals to wear masks in many situations.... [Plaintiffs alleged] that the emergency orders imposed harsher restrictions on churches than on other institutions. When Calvary Chapel admittedly defied those orders, Plaintiffs allege...

ROME — Italian Archbishop Bruno Forte said Sunday that Vladimir Putin’s religious defense of his war of aggression on Ukraine is a “sacrilegious act.” “Putin no longer manages to find arguments to excuse the disaster he has caused,” Archbishop Forte told the Italian daily La Stampa. “His was a sacrilegious act, an instrumentalization of the gospel in an attempt to justify himself.” The archbishop was referring to a statement made Friday evening by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a pro-war rally in Moscow, in which he cited Jesus as saying: “Greater love has no man than this: to lay down...

Military losses have mounted, progress has slowed, and a blame game has begun among some Russian supporters of the war. In January, the head of a group of serving and retired Russian military officers declared that invading Ukraine would be “pointless and extremely dangerous.” It would kill thousands, he said, make Russians and Ukrainians enemies for life, risk a war with NATO and threaten “the existence of Russia itself as a state.” To many Russians, that seemed like a far-fetched scenario, since few imagined that an invasion of Ukraine was really possible. But two months later, as Russia’s advance stalls...

Woke corporate CEOs seem to think they know better than voters what’s best for the country. These titans are throwing their companies’ clout and cash behind activists pushing gender-fluidity lessons for kindergarteners and other extreme political causes. Expect this corporate activism to backfire. Corporations should be serving their customers, not trying to override the democratic process, like thousand-pound gorillas undoing what the electorate—including their own customers—wants. Walt Disney Co. CEO Bob Chapek declared his opposition Friday to a Florida state bill that bans instruction for children in grades K-3 about choosing their sexual orientation. The bill also bars teachers from...

Microsoft Corporation legal documents obtained by Project Veritas show that after a U.S. District Court Judge rejected the DOJ’s argument to ignore Project Veritas’ “journalistic privileges,” the DOJ went behind the judge’s back to obtain an extension on two sealed non-disclosure orders from a magistrate judge to conceal the fact they already had unsupervised and unfettered access to privileged emails and contacts of eight Project Veritas journalists. • Judge Torres had ruled that prosecutors must operate under the supervision of a Special Master to ensure first amendment protections are upheld for Project Veritas journalists and their source material. • These...

PHOENIX (AP) — A judge in Prescott has saved Republicans in the Arizona Legislature from a political mess they created when they repealed elections for political party precinct committeemen and set off a firestorm among Republican party activists. snip The weekend after the law unanimously passed the House and Senate and was swiftly signed by Republican Gov. Doug Ducey, Arizona Republican Party activists went ballistic when they discovered their elections had been eliminated for 2022. They hammered Fann, Bowers and other GOP lawmakers and called the move undemocratic. Democrats who rely less on elected committeemen to do grassroot party work...

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg‘s office failed to confiscate a gun used in an armed robbery by a serial offender — who then fatally shot a man with that same weapon exactly a month later, a union boss alleged. Tyrell Rodgers, 29, allegedly pointed the silver revolver at his estranged girlfriend and stole her cell phone while threatening to kill her on Feb. 8, court records show. He then allegedly killed a man with that revolver on March 8 — after Bragg’s office failed to issue a warrant that detectives on the robbery case requested. “Why didn’t DA Bragg’s office...

resident Joe Biden and prominent Democrats blame Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, alleged oil-company collusion, and even COVID-19 for today’s sky-high gas prices. They refuse to take responsibility for this monumental mess of their own design. While running for president, Biden repeatedly promised to do exactly this. "I guarantee you," Biden told New Hampshire voters on Sept. 6, 2019. "We’re going to end fossil fuels." ... When the pump hit 7.360 gallons it cut off and said that she has reached her fueling limit. This is what communist countries do. A globalist climate change-focused organization in the United Kingdom has issued an analysis that claims rich countries should be the first to drop the harvesting of all fossil fuels by 2034 in order to keep the global warming cap at 1.5 degrees Celsius. This would give poor countries more time to divest of oil and gas.

OK, call me paranoid. Local charity was having a “penny war” fund raiser, so I decided to go through the change jar (an old 5 gallon water jug). Parsing out all the bottle caps, shiny stones, etc. that got thrown in. I put the quarters aside. Then started going through the nickels, dimes, & pennies. Growing up as a kid, we had coin collections, so with time on my hands decided to sift through them for wheat pennies, silver, etc. To my wonderment, I found very few coins from the 70s and 80s. Even the 90s were sparse. I understand...
