Scientists studying ice cores packing in some 60,000 years of history have found signs of thousands of volcanic eruptions across that time, stretching back to the last Ice Age – with 25 of the eruptions larger than anything Earth has seen in the last 2,500 years. Researchers excavated the cores near both poles: in Antarctica (where 737 eruptions were logged) and Greenland (where 1,113 eruptions were found). A total of 85 eruptions were large enough to leave evidence behind at both poles. That evidence takes the form of sulfuric acid deposits left behind by the eruptions. It gives researchers clues...

On his MSNBC show Sunday morning, after playing a clip of Tucker Carlson calling for the release of the LSAT (Law School Admission Test) score of Ketanji Brown Jackson, Biden's Supreme Court justice nominee, Jonathan Capehart said to his liberal Democrat guest: "Senator Hirono, I'm not going to curse because it's Sunday and I'd get fired. Can you talk about why what Tucker Carlson just said is so repugnant?" Hirono failed to answer Capehart's question. She didn't/couldn't venture anything as to why it was "repugnant" to ask for Brown Jackson's LSAT score. The most she could muster was to suggest...

Conservative Christian satire website The Babylon Bee has been suspended by Twitter over a tweet naming transgender US Assistant Secretary of Health Dr Rachel Levine its 'Man of the Year.' Despite facing the prospect of a permanent ban from the social media platform, where it has 1.3 million followers, the website has struck a defiant tone, refusing to delete the offending tweet targeting the trailblazing government official. 'Truth is not hate speech,' Seth Dillon, the website's CEO, tweeted on Sunday. 'If the cost of telling the truth is the loss of our Twitter account, then so be it.' On March...

“I think it’s a little naive to think that we can keep ratcheting up our assistance to the Ukrainians, whether through the provision of more and more advanced weapons, intelligence, targeting intelligence … and we’re just going to expect Moscow to accept that and not do anything in response?” Federalist Senior Editor John Daniel Davidson asked.“What disturbs me is that we’re not even having a debate about this,” he added. “The people who are calling for this escalation on the part of the West, of the U.S. and NATO allies, are not even acknowledging that there’s a risk involved. Just...

Yahoo reported last week:The House Oversight Committee is launching an investigation into a partisan ballot review in Otero County, New Mexico, where a self-proclaimed “audit force” is going door to door and questioning voters. The county, which borders Texas and has about 67,000 residents, agreed this year to pay nearly $50,000 to EchoMail, one of the subcontractors involved in Arizona’s partisan ballot review, to review its 2020 election results.“The Committee is investigating whether your company’s audit and canvass in New Mexico illegally interferes with Americans’ right to vote by spreading disinformation about elections and intimidating voters,” House Oversight Committee Chairwoman Carolyn...

Six million displaced. Three million refugees. Thousands of civilians dead. Hundreds of children murdered. The world hasn’t seen statistics like these since Hitler went on a land grab in the late 1930s. Germany, however, didn’t have nuclear weapons and an international alliance propping them up. Putin has openly implied he’d use his nuclear arsenal and has already received support from Belarus, Chechnya, Syria, Iran and China. (Not to mention formerly independent regions like Georgia and Crimea.)

The center is not holding, things are falling apart. We have moved on from mass psychosis over vaccines to mass psychosis over the urgent need to go to war with Russia. The sanctions are bad enough; the early economic fallout from them is already causing pain for working and middle-class Americans. But we did sanctions last week, the public demands more. Do something, even if that thing is horrifying in its implications. Two years of pent-up dissociated rage is being channeled and redirected at an external target by the same people responsible for the response to COVID-19, among the worst...

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men." "That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world." "But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let...

Russia’s economy is now creaking under the immense weight of international sanctions and the costs of war, having largely failed to achieve major military victories in Ukraine. Close watchers of Moscow, and Putin, say there are increasing signs of desperation in Russia’s military campaign and siege tactics. “I don’t think Russia can win,” Kurt Volker, a former U.S. ambassador to NATO, told CNBC.
