As for Ukraine, it was ok for China and the Soviets to send the NVA jet fighters w/pilots, tanks, etc. We didn’t go after them for it, we went for the supply lines in Laos and Cambodia.

The best defense is often a good offense.
Giving weapons to a corrupt country like Ukraine is a bad idea since it will just end up being sold to criminals at the end of the day.
3 batteries of Harpoons aren’t very survivable against a fleet. Not to mention are hard to bring into a theater.
You’d see escalation when it starts in your neighborhood.
