New York City Mayor Eric Adams, exuberant over the end of the 99-day lockout, said that not only will it be great to see the “boys of summer” again, but he also hopes next year to see the “boys and girls of summer” playing Major League Baseball. “I’m so glad that the boys of summer are coming back,” Adams told reporters on Friday. “I hope in the next year we start seeing the boys and the girls of summer. It’s time to allow women to play professional baseball as well.” As the New York Post reports: While baseball has no...

The screens...use a system of motion sensors and cameras to display what's inside the doors — as well as product information, prices, deals and, most appealing to brands, paid advertisements. The tech provides stores with an additional revenue stream and a way to modernize ["modernize"?] the shopping experience. The company wants to engage more people with advertising, but the reaction, so far, is annoyance and confusion. "Who on God's green earth thought this was a good idea?" "The digital cooler screens at Walgreens made me watch an ad before it allowed me to know which door held the frozen pizzas,"...

Annalena Baerbock said Friday in Serbia’s capital Belgrade that “we all must have a clear position” over the Russian invasion of Ukraine. While Serbia has criticized the attack on Ukraine and voted in the United Nations for the condemnation of the attack, Belgrade has refrained from joining Western sanctions against Moscow. . Food company Frito-Lay has cut down the number of chips in each bag of Doritos as record inflation has raised production expenses. A bag of Doritos has five fewer chips than it used to, the company told Quartz. "Inflation is hitting everyone. … We took just a little bit out of the bag so we can give you the same price and you can keep enjoying your chips," a Frito-Lay representative said. Other ubiquitous consumer products have fallen victim to "shrinkflation," Quartz reported. Bounty has cut three sheets from each roll of paper towels, and a box of Wheat Thins...

Any chef will tell you that you're only as good as your best kitchen knives despite your culinary skills. On top of that, if you have a top-of-the-line knife set, they'll quickly become useless if you don't maintain them and keep them sharp. It's kind of like a carpenter trying to frame a home with plastic nails or a hunter trying to take down a buck with a slingshot. Even if you don't step foot in a kitchen but use knives for other things like work or outdoor survival, you need to keep them sharp. The bottom line is dull...

The West could have further exploited Ukraine and teased Russia but it simply overplayed its hand. Precisely as described in this fable where a goose laying golden eggs is killed by the greedy owners. The moral? Much wants more and loses all. Now that Moscow is taking retaliatory steps like shutting down media outlets that propagated Western ideas and Western lifestyle the West has lost its ideological bridgehead inside Russia that it has held for thirty years. The West really thought it was ready to make a killing. Western elites really thought Russia would withdraw from its positions further and...

Despite the mildness of the dominant omicron variant and the evidence that the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine hasn't stopped infection or transmission of SARS-CoV-2 while posing serious health risks, the company's CEO is asking the FDA to grant emergency use authorization for a second booster, a fourth shot."Clearly there is a need in an environment of omicron to boost the immune response," Albert Bourla said Friday on CNBC's "Squawk Box."Bourla claimed the data indicate the protection against severe disease after three doses is "very good." But the protection wanes after only three or four months, he acknowledged. In January, Bourla acknowledged that...

WASHINGTON, Tuesday, March 11. The rebels have evacuated Manassas. We occupied it this morning. Dispatches received at headquarters this forenoon stated positively that the rebels had not evacuated Winchester. If this is so, -- and those best authorized to know report it, -- Gen. JACKSON's rebel army is assuredly cut off and will be captured. This abandonment of a splendid army corps at Winchester could not have been designed, and is further proof of the haste and confusion of the flight from Centreville and Manassas. The officer commanding the Union forces at Manassas sent in a messenger to-night. I had...

The Disney Co.’s CEO Bob Chapek has taken a knee before his LGBTQ employees, issuing a humiliating apology after some of them mutinied over the company’s refusal to condemn Florida’s Parental Rights in Education bill, which would forbid the teaching of sexuality and transgender ideology to students in kindergarten through third grade. In his groveling mea culpa, Chapek said he needed to be a “stronger ally” to the company’s gay and transgender employees. He also falsely referred to the legislation as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill — a smear created by Democrats and dutifully propagated by the news media —...

The COVID theater curtain is closing, and nothing makes it more obvious than a recent interview with Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Although couched in giggles and approval-seeking glances, Walensky’s remarks last week to an interviewer at Washington University School of Medicine reveal an astonishing level of ignorance and incompetence at the top levels of pandemic response. The full interview is available to watch here, but a 45-second clip (see below) which went viral on social media this week captures the essence of what the CDC director said.“I can tell you where I was when...

I don’t get it: Progressives bitched for four years (5, counting 2021) about President Trump “lying” about everything but they don’t seem to have a problem with their own flag bearer blatantly lying about a fundamentally and universally accepted rule of economics 101 - which is apparently no longer taught. Biden Complains That The American People Believe Increased Government Spending Causes InflationNot to overestimate the intelligence of the American people, but his accusation only applies to people over 50 or who otherwise managed to escape the current government education indoctrination system of public education and don’t believe Fake News.Still, there...

On Friday’s broadcast of HBO’s “Real Time,” host Bill Maher criticized people who have attempted to make the Russian invasion of Ukraine about their pet issues and criticized those who have attempted to blame the invasion on former President Donald Trump by asking, “if Putin thought Trump was really that supportive of him, why didn’t he invade when Trump was in office?” And arguing that the question’s worth asking “if you’re not locked into one, intransigent thought.”
