The deputy minister of defence for Belarus has reportedly submitted his resignation and claimed he cannot support the current Russian invasion of Ukraine. Major General Viktor Gulevich, who is also the chief of the general staff, argued that Belarusian military unit personnel refused to take part in hostilities and that the Armed Forces of Belarus could not complete a single battalion group. Mr Gulevich is among a number of Belarusian officials facing economic sanctions from the UK government because of their closeness with Vladimir Putin.

A group of North Carolinians failed to get North Carolina Representative Madison Cawthorn kicked off November’s ballot. They’d argued that the 14th Amendment’s “Disqualification Clause” prohibits anyone who participated in an “insurrection” against the government of the United States from appearing on a ballot—and of course, within hours of events on January 6, Democrats started saying that a spontaneous protest at the Capitol constituted an “insurrection.” (The fact that there seem to have been government operatives herding people onto the Capitol grounds and into the building suggests it wasn’t a coincidence that they instantly had a narrative in place.) Cawthorn...

Amidst Omicron, political discord, and extreme weather disasters, 2022 hasn’t brought much good news. But flying under the radar is a game-changing story about state budget surpluses that could set New England on a path to tackling some of the biggest issues of our time: climate collapse and deep inequality. Our states are flush with extra cash, thanks in part to relief money, federal infrastructure funding, and tax revenue that held steady during the pandemic. And it’s not chump change. What to do with this money is the question. As labor leaders and advocates who represent the millions of working...

This is the most important battle parents face and they’d better engage in it because the other side is loaded for bear and completely insane. In 1991, the European release of Zero Wing, a Sega video game, contained a now-classic badly translated phrase: “All your base are belong to us.” In the massive battle shaping up across America, public school districts are metaphorically carrying a banner saying “All your children are belong to us” in their battle against parents over children’s gender (not to mention racial issues). What’s happening in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, exemplifies this battle and can be summed...

A tough choice between Muslim Europe and Muslim Russia. Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center, is an investigative journalist and writer focusing on the radical Left and Islamic terrorism. Russia, with a birth rate of 1.5 children per woman, has invaded Ukraine, where the birth rate is 1.2 children per woman, to determine which nation with below replacement birth rates will go extinct the fastest. In the long run the only winners of the war to determine whether Ukraine will belong to the 1.2 or 1.5 people will be the Chechen and other Muslim soldiers doing...

Either way, the Democrats trying to run our lives are a threat to the viability and long-term survivability of the USA as a meaningful nation. Among a number of things going wrong in America right now, worst of all is our totally unnecessary, self-inflicted end to energy independence. This one is particularly frustrating because it is so unnecessary and arbitrary. Based purely on liberal arrogance and adolescent egotism — not on well considered business factors or with the country's long-term well-being in mind — "President" Biden canceled the Keystone Pipeline as soon as he occupied the Oval Office. This was...

“Those who organized the protests didn’t really care about anyone’s rights or freedoms but their own, and neither did the politicians who enabled them.” ...While truck horns have been silenced and the convoy has largely moved on, there is lingering resentment and anger among residents. “And rightfully so,” said Coun. Catherine McKenney, who attended Saturday’s rally as a supporter. “Right from the start (of the convoy), we saw there was hatred, xenophobia, racism, and that was directed very much to a certain demographic … I think that feeling of abandonment is what terrified people during the illegal occupation, and I...

The Ukraine situation is both more complex and fluid than many think. My brother-in-law long hosted a radio show called “Whad’ya know?” The answer to which was always, “Not much.” I feel that way about the Russian attacks on Ukraine. It’s not that I haven’t tried. I’ve read everything I consider reliable on the subject and can’t begin to answer if the Russians are bogged down or simply regrouping. If they or the Ukrainians will win this fight. Oh, there are some things I do know. I know that we've been bombarded by propaganda on both sides, and the Ukrainians...

SELMA, Ala. (AP) — Vice President Kamala Harris will visit Alabama on Sunday as the nation marks a defining moment in the fight for the right to vote, a trip that comes as congressional efforts to restore the landmark 1965 Voting Rights Act have faltered. Harris is traveling to Selma, Alabama to commemorate the 57th anniversary of “Bloody Sunday,” the day in 1965 when white state troopers attacked Black voting rights marchers attempting to cross the Edmund Pettus Bridge. Harris will visit with civil rights leaders before speaking at the foot of the bridge. The bridge, named for a Confederate...

...the long-ago summer of 2010, I found myself in the beautiful harbor of Sevastapol, surveying the rival fleets of Russia and Ukraine as they rode at anchor in the lovely Crimean sunshine. One great fortress was adorned with banners proclaiming "Glory to the Ukrainian Navy!" Another frowning bastion across the water bore the words "Glory to the Russian Navy!" In the streets of that elegant city, with its porticoes and statues and monuments to repeated wars, sailors from the two fleets mingled on the pavements. The Russians looked like Russians with their huge hats and Edwardian uniforms. The Ukrainians looked...

Excerpted: The [Biden] administration is desperate to forge a new and “improved” version of Obama’s disastrous Iran nuclear deal. There is no good reason for this; it is yet another case of “because Trump reversed something that Obama did, Biden must reinstate it.” It doesn’t matter how apparent it is that Trump reversed the deal because it was both reckless and unpopular or even that the recklessness of reinstating it will make Biden more unpopular. Tehran understands this well, and in its “Death to America” contempt for our feckless government, humiliates Biden by refusing to meet directly with his envoy,...

A lot of folks can't understand how we came to have an oil shortage here in our country. Well, there's a very simple answer. Nobody bothered to check the oil. We just didn't know we were getting low. The reason for that is purely geographical. Our oil is located in: Alaska, Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, Nevada, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, Wyoming, the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and the Gulf of Mexico; But, Our dipsticks are...

Democrats hate the constitution. The constitution doesn’t need to be interpreted. Republics protect the minority from the majority. Founding fathers warned of the evils of democracy. You can’t have liberty in a democracy, but you can in a republic. The constitution was written to protect against democracy. The government that governs best, governs least Play...

There's no Putin you on or Russian to conclusions here. Well let's go it's time for our Russia-Ukraine Drama update...the theme from The Buffalo Springfield "For What It's Worth". In 1941 Franklin Roosevelt imposed the sanctions on Japan and got his war with Hitler via Pearl Harbor. Of course war with Hitler necessitated by the war that was not needed World War I. Now Joe Biden prodded Russia by refusing to give Russia guarantees on its security while building up Ukraine's military and stationing more US military assets in Eastern Europe imposing sanctions sending Russian diplomats back home etc. etc....
