Hollywood loves giving us entertainment we never asked for, like reboots of reboots of Ghostbusters, a Fresh Prince of Bel-Air drama, and 12 million seasons of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Now, in the grand tradition of continuing to make everything but what American consumers want to see, Hollywood will be giving us a movie about the events at the Capitol on January 6th.Because of course they are.Given the names attached, one can already imagine the absurdity of what this movie might entail. Billy Ray will direct. You’ll know him from his most recent directorial project that you most certainly...

The Canadian Trucking Alliance estimates the federal vaccine requirement could take 10 to 15 per cent — about 12,000 to 16,000 — of truck drivers off the road. Hundreds of truckers are set to roll out of Metro Vancouver Sunday on a cross-country convoy to the nation’s capital to protest a federal vaccine mandate for truck drivers. Big rigs have departed northern B.C. for the drive south, where they will gather at the Nordel weigh scale in Delta early Sunday before the trek to Ottawa, the destination for the so-called Convoy for Freedom 2022. “We’ll all be in radio contact...

The French government this week with an eye towards April 10th and the first round of the presidential election laid out a COVID plan for the week ahead. It involves a tightened vaccine passport in public places starting Monday (January 24th) and a gradual loosening of other measures like the wearing of masks outdoors or standing to drink in a bar. As France's Constitutional Council validated the vaccine pass approved by lawmakers it prohibited its use in conjunction with political rallies. As one of the greatest works in Britain’s literary canon, Nineteen Eighty-Four sounds a chilling warning about the dangers of censorship. Now staff at the University of Northampton have issued a trigger warning for George Orwell’s novel on the grounds that it contains ‘explicit material’ which some students may find ‘offensive and upsetting’. The advice, revealed following a Freedom of Information request by The Mail on Sunday, has infuriated critics, who say it runs contrary to the themes in the book. Published in 1949, Orwell’s dystopian story – set in a totalitarian state which persecutes individual thinking – gave the...

A majority of the Supreme Court is acting more like a political body than a judicial one. Its treatment of Texas’ abortion law and its looming decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, which will for the first time overturn a case that provides a constitutional right, is merely part of the court’s lurch toward political activism. A majority of the Supreme Court is acting more like a political body than a judicial one. On Thursday, the court allowed the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit to flout its December ruling that the federal case brought by abortion providers...

Will there be a war over Ukraine? Have recent negotiations opened a path to peace? Unfortunately, the diplomats have achieved very little. The White House says no further talks with Russia have been planned.[i] Worse yet, American intelligence officials say that Russia is setting up a pretext to invade Ukraine. On 14 January Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby said, “Without getting into too much detail, we do have information that indicates Russia is already working actively to create a pretext for a potential invasion…. In fact, we have information that they have prepositioned a group of operatives to conduct what...

The geopolitical continuity of the Eurasian continent is millennia old. It harks back to Indo-Europeans spreading to Europe and South Asia, from the Eurasian heartland to the Huns, the Turks, and the Mongols roaming around the huge landmass following their strategic goals. It is a constant pattern, until recently when the Soviets stoked fire in Asia—in the 1950s war in Korea and only a little later in the war in Vietnam, first against the French then against the Americans—to distract the West from the main theater in Europe. Perhaps the same is happening now with Ukraine. Will China get entangled...

WASHINGTON (CNS) — The Supreme Court announced Jan. 14 that it would hear an appeal from a former high school football coach in Washington state who says his rights to freedom of speech and religion were violated when he was fired in 2015 for praying on the football field after team games. Joseph Kennedy, former assistant coach at Bremerton High School, outside of Seattle, is asking the court to reverse a lower court decision in 2017 that sided with the school district. The decision said Kennedy had acted as a public official by praying with athletes who wished to join...

President Vladimir Putin is more likely than not to invade Ukraine again in the coming weeks. As someone who helped President Barack Obama manage the U.S. and international response to Russia’s initial invasion of Ukraine in 2014, and our effort to keep Moscow from occupying the whole country into 2015, I am distressingly convinced of it. Why? I see the scale and type of force arrayed by the Russian military, the ultimatums issued by Putin and his officials, the warlike rhetoric that has until recently saturated Russian airwaves, and the impatience with talks expressed by his foreign minister. Add to...

The Kansas Supreme Court issued opinions Friday morning upholding the convictions and death sentences for Reginald and Jonathan Carr, convicted of capital murder in the killings of five people in 2000. The court issued separate opinions for the appeals filed by the brothers, stating that while errors were made during their trial, the errors would not have led the jury to reach a different conclusion regarding the death penalty. Chief Justice Marla Luckert issued a partial dissent, stating that there was a reasonable possibility that the jury might have reached a different decision on the sentence. Sedgwick County District Attorney...

A total of 140 House Republicans and Democrats are lobbying President Joe Biden to cut United States tariffs on billions of dollars worth of China-made imports. Last month, Breitbart News exclusively reported how Reps. Darin LaHood (R-IL), Jackie Walorski (R-IN), Ron Kind (D-WI), and Rep. Suzan DelBene (D-WA) were courting lawmakers to sign their letter to U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) Katherine Tai — urging her to allow more “made in China” imports to avoid U.S. tariffs. The Section 301 tariffs on billions of dollars worth of China-made products were first imposed by former President Trump after a decades-long free trade...

Telling people they cannot quit for a better opportunity is blatantly unconstitutional. But that just happened in Wisconsin. The Appleton, Wisconsin Post-Crescent reports Fox Valley Health Care Workers Now Playing Out in Court. The seven workers quit ThedaCare, applied for positions at Ascension, and received job offers. The seven did not have contracts or obligations at ThedaCare nor did Ascension recruit those workers. Nonetheless, ThedaCare filed a lawsuit seeking to block the move. Outagamie County Circuit Court Judge Mark McGinnis granted ThedaCare's request and until at least Monday. In the complaint, lawyers for ThedaCare wrote that Ascension had "shockingly" chosen...
