At least 27 people underwent the controversial anal swab tests at an apartment building in Beijing where a 26-year-old woman had contracted Omicron, the city's first recorded case of the variant, according to Chinese newspaper The Beijing News. The anal tests involve inserting a sterile cotton swab up to two inches (5cm) into the rectum and rotating it several times. The swab is then removed before being analysed in a lab. Anal swab testing has been used in China since 2020, but became prevalent in Beijing in January 2021 after a nine-year-old boy tested positive for the virus. China sparked...

The more that comes out about the Seth Rich case, the more plausible the “leak” theory becomes, and the more sinister the Clinton campaign and James Comey appear to have been. The murder of Democratic National Committee employee Seth Rich in July 2016 set off a frenzy of speculation, all related to the claim from Hillary Clinton’s presidential election campaign that WikiLeaks’ release of thousands of DNC emails was the result of Russian hacking. Unfortunately for the political Left, its handling of Rich’s murder over the years has kept its mysteries alive, such that they become ripe for reexamination. Here...

Brian Laundrie admitted he killed girlfriend Gabby Petito in a notebook entry he wrote shortly before he took his own life, the FBI revealed Friday in its final report on the case. Laundrie also sent text messages between his and Petito’s cellphone in the days after Petito was strangled to death last summer in an attempt “to deceive law enforcement by giving the impression Ms. Petito was still alive,” the FBI Denver said in its final investigative update on the case. All “logical investigative steps have been concluded in the case,” FBI Denver Division Special Agent in Charge Michael Schneider...

After Attorney General Merrick Garland and Education Secretary Miguel Cardona came for American parents, a new "ParentGate" campaign is coming for them courtesy of the Constitutional Rights PAC. The Wednesday announcement said that the initiative would demand the impeachment of the two men, who are alleged to have conspired with the National School Boards Association to go after parents who speak up in opposition to critical race theory, face masks, and gender ideology at school board meetings. ADVERTISEMENT The charge against the Biden appointees is that they are seeking to deny parents of their rights to free speech enshrined in...

CNN's John Harwood is a shameless Biden sycophant. Harwood was back on New Day Friday morning. And predictably, he defended Biden's pitiful press conference performance. Harwood's shameless sycophancy was on display in the screencap: "Harwood: Pundits Got Biden's News Conference Wrong." In particular, Harwood justified Biden having questioned the legitimacy of the midterm elections, and his comment that a "minor incursion" into Ukraine ordered by Putin might not merit a full-blown US response.Get the rest of the story and view the video here.

James Joyce’s Ulysses was first published in 1922, just over two weeks after the British handed over the keys of Dublin Castle to Michael Collins and his new Irish government. The other great literary event of that year was TS Eliot’s The Waste Land. Joyce’s novel had much in common with Eliot’s long poem — it dealt with the rawness of urban life using competing narrative forms, including pastiche and myth and different kinds of voices. The Waste Land sounded a sort of death knell for the narrative poem, just as Ulysses set about killing off the single-perspective, the all-knowing...

As gas stations go, there are few chains that have managed to capture the attention of travelers — and eaters — like Buc-ee’s. The Texas-born chain is a highway oasis, boasting a slew of clean bathrooms, a dizzying array of snacks and prepared foods, and tons of merch emblazoned with the chipper face of its mascot, a beaver named Bucky. [...] Founded in 1982, the chain slowly built a local cult following and in 2001, owner Arch “Beaver” Aplin expanded the convenience store into a full-fledged travel center in Luling, Texas. More locations popped up across the state in the...

Under one party rule, ‘Criminals know how to exploit California’s policies for their gain’. Californians have recently been treated to images of mountains of trash along the Union Pacific rail line in Los Angeles. CBS-LA reporter John Schreiber went to the site and took video of looted packages from Amazon and UPS, prescription drugs, Amazon packages, “unused Covid tests, fishing lures, epi pens. Cargo containers left busted open on trains.” His videos went viral on social media, and many news reports followed. California Gov. Gavin Newsom visited the site Thursday and helped perform clean up for the cameras. “What has...

The Biden administration has already filed an appeal of the injunction.federal court in Texas has issued an injunction against President Biden’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate for the federal workforce, pausing implementation of a requirement for more than 2 million civilian servants. The Biden administration has already had sweeping success with the mandate, as most agencies have seen virtually their entire workforces come into compliance. Still, federal offices across the country were just beginning to move forward with suspensions—which could eventually result in firings—for those who did not meet the requirements. Biden issued the mandate by executive order in September. Judge Jeffrey...

Surety Bonds are required for every elected and appointed official throughout the United States - including State School Boards, Districts, Mayors, Sheriffs, and County Officials. A mother with a 16-year-old boy who has autism begged the schools to let her son have an exemption. They refused. When forced to wear the masks he became distraught and he harmed himself so badly that he had to be hospitalized in a mental institution. The mother obtained the bond for the superintendent of her school district. The superintendent was carrying a $4 million liability per bond claim so the mother served the superintendent...

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy (D) issued an order Wednesday mandating healthcare workers be fully vaccinated and receive a booster or face being fired, NorthJersey.com reported. The order removes the state’s previous option for unvaccinated workers to test regularly for the coronavirus instead of getting vaccinated. Medical exemptions and exemptions for “deeply held” religious beliefs will still be granted, Murphy said. The order includes all workers in congregate settings such as prisons and group homes. According to the report, 43 percent of the state’s nursing home and other long-term care facility staff have received a booster shot, and 88 percent...

As part of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service on Monday, I led a team of people in cleaning up a litter-strewn block of North Philadelphia. Over 100 of us spent two and a half hours picking up debris, eventually hauling away more than 10 tons of trash. Less than 48 hours later, someone illegally dumped a bunch of construction waste on that same block. To say I didn’t expect that may be a little naive, but it brings up some larger questions: What do we have to do to stop illegal dumping in Philadelphia? What can Philadelphians...

AST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — A nearly three-month search for a missing college student who was visiting Michigan State University ended Friday with the discovery of a body in the Red Cedar River, police said. Authorities believe the body is Brendan Santo, 18, who was last seen leaving a residence hall late on Oct. 29. “The Santo family has been informed and we are providing them with as much information and support as possible during this difficult time,” campus police said. “We are deeply saddened by this tragic loss. ... We still have no reason to believe foul play is...

BY ALEX LAUER @ALEXLAUER After a winter storm left hundreds of motorists stranded on Interstate 95 in Virginia earlier this month, many for over 24 hours, we were left with plenty of questions. What went wrong on a governmental level that led to this? How could similar traffic shutdowns be avoided in the future? What should we be carrying in our cars in case of an emergency like this? The most perplexing question of the bunch was a hypothetical one: what would have happened if all of these cars — stuck on icy roads in the snow in temperatures that...
