On Thursday, yet another Virginia school district decided to, at least for now, disregard Gov. Glenn Youngkin's (R-VA) executive orders on lifting a mask mandate for school districts throughout the commonwealth. Such an order was part of his "Day One Promise" executive orders issued on Saturday, hours after he had taken office. The school district in question is Chesterfield County Public Schools, located close to Richmond, and is very much a swing district. Tina Ramirez, whom Townhall has featured before in articles about when she had announced a run in the 7th Congressional District, to challenge Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-VA),...

The Justice Department’s (DOJ) leveling of seditious conspiracy charges against the founder of the Oath Keepers has renewed interest — and in some cases faith — in DOJ and whether its investigation could yield charges against other high-level figures involved in the attack on the Capitol, including those in former President Trump’s orbit. Stewart Rhodes, the founder of the far-right militia group, was never in the Capitol on Jan. 6, but he’s been charged alongside other members who used a military “stack” formation to enter the building.

My phone call to the Secretary of State of Georgia was perfect, perhaps even more so than my call with the Ukrainian President, if that’s possible. I knew there were large numbers of people on the line, including numerous lawyers for both sides. Although I assumed the call may have been inappropriately, and perhaps illegally, recorded, I was not informed of that. I didn’t say anything wrong in the call, made while I was President on behalf of the United States of America, to look into the massive voter fraud which took place in Georgia. Just last week, it was...

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas says President Joe Biden’s national immigration agenda centers around “justice and equity” for illegal aliens living in the United States. While speaking at the annual U.S. Conference of Mayors in Washington, D.C. this week, Mayorkas bragged about imposing so-called “sanctuary country” orders that prevent the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency from arresting and deporting most of the nation’s 11 to 22 million illegal aliens. As intended, Mayorkas said the orders ensure that illegal aliens are shielded from federal immigration law as “a matter of justice and equity” — a fixture of...

[Catholic Caucus] An edifying message in the aftermath of Traditionis Custodes and the other orders from Rome on December 18th 2021: I received the following reflection from a religious who wishes to remain anonymous. It was penned after scripture reading, prayer and meditation – it is meant to lift up our hearts during this period of great adversity when Holy Mother Church is being beaten on all sides – both externally and internally. F.R.Viriliter agite‘Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous, be strong(1 Corinthians : 16:13)With regard to the December 18th document from Rome clamping...

On Thursday’s broadcast of CNN’s “New Day,” Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) stated that President Joe Biden should “reassure the American people that our next elections can and should be legitimate and secure.” Co-host Kasie Hunt asked, “The president yesterday, in his press conference said that without the voting rights legislation that failed last night, there are questions potentially about the legitimacy of our elections in 2022. Do you agree with that statement, or is it a dangerous one for our democracy?”

President Biden lashed out Thursday at a reporter for what he called a “stupid question” about Russia potentially invading Ukraine — as the White House scrambled to clean up Biden’s Wednesday gaffe that Russia may face less blowback for a “minor incursion.” As reporters were escorted out of a science-focused meeting next door to the White House, Fox News correspondent Jacqui Heinrich shouted, “Why are you waiting on [Russian President Vladimir] Putin to make the first move, sir?” Biden’s answer was not captured on the official video livestream, but press audio engineers recorded him saying, “What a stupid question,” according...

The Committee plotted with JPMorgan and its lawyer, former Obama AG Loretta Lynch, to obtain a citizen's financial records with no possibility of judicial review. On November 22, the 1/6 Committee served a subpoena on Taylor Budowich — a former spokesman for the Trump campaign who never worked for the U.S. Government — that requested a wide range of documents as well as his deposition testimony. On December 14, Budowich voluntarily complied by handing over a large amount of his personal records, and then, on December 22, he flew to Washington at his own expense and submitted to questioning. There...

The House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol is asking Ivanka Trump, former President Trump's daughter and one of his White House advisers, to voluntarily sit down with the committee. The request — the first official outreach to a member of the Trump family — notes that Ivanka Trump spent considerable time with her father in the days leading up to Jan. 6, including witnessing a conversation between him and Vice President Mike Pence ahead of Congress's certification of the 2020 presidential election.

Federal Bureau of Investigations Director Christopher Wray called Saturday's hostage situation at a Colleyville, Texas synagogue an "act of terrorism targeting the Jewish community." Wray made the comments during an address given to the Anti-Defamation League during a webinar on Wednesday. "Now let me be clear and blunt, the FBI is, and has been, treating Saturday’s events as an act of terrorism targeting the Jewish community. Within a matter of hours, we deployed FBI SWAT, two highly trained units from our elite Hostage Rescue Team; those are the folks who ultimately were the ones who went into the synagogue, along...

Any level of drinking can lead to loss of healthy life, the World Heart Federation has said, as it sought to dispel the idea that a daily glass of wine may be good for you. In a new policy briefing, the organisation said it wanted to “challenge the widespread notion” that drinking moderate amounts of alcohol can decrease the risk of heart disease and called for urgent action to tackle the global rise in deaths caused by drinking. Monika Arora, member of WHF’s advocacy committee and co-author of the briefing, said: “The portrayal of alcohol as necessary for a vibrant...
