Boris Johnson has faced a defection and a demand to quit from one of his most senior MPs during a dramatic day in Westminster, with even allies of the prime minister warning the current situation cannot go on. David Davis caused shockwaves when he told Johnson in the Commons: “In the name of God, go.” Less than an hour earlier, Christian Wakeford, the MP for Bury South, quit the Conservatives and joined Labour in fury at the Downing Street parties scandal. The prime minister vowed to battle on in No 10 and his supporters insisted he now had the breathing...

ransomnote: It's not just happening in the UK.In March 2020 the UK Government announced that the country “must stay at home” in order to “protect the NHS” and “save lives”. But little did the public know, the UK Government was in the process of implementing policies that would lead to the unnecessary killing of the UK’s elderly and most vulnerable, who you were told had died of Covid-19, and the “Death Document” proves it.Between 2 March and 12 June 2020, 18,562 residents of care homes in England died with COVID-19, including 18,168 people aged 65 and over, representing almost 40%...

States can still use the sedative drug midazolam in lethal injections, according to today's Supreme Court decision. But how exactly does the drug work, and why do some say that it's unreliable? In a 5-to-4 vote, the court ruled that using midazolam does not violate the Eighth Amendment, which prohibits "cruel and unusual punishment." In executions, the drug has been used to induce unconsciousness before other drugs are administered to stop an inmate's breathing and stop the heart. However, midazolam was involved in several botched executions last year, including the case of Clayton Lockett from Oklahoma, who lived for about 45 minutes...

A former Vermont legislator and House majority leader has died with the help of a law he himself helped pass that allows the terminally ill to end their own lives, his wife said. Willem Jewett died Jan. 12 at his home in Ripton at age 58, said his wife, Ellen McKay Jewett. He was diagnosed with mucosal melanoma over a year ago. In the days before his death, he supported changes to the 2013 law to make it easier for terminally ill people to navigate and get a prescription, VTDigger first reported. “It is very Willem fashion to still be...

Five works by Claude Monet from the same collection could fetch a collective £35 million ($50 million) during a modern and contemporary art evening sale at Sotheby’s that will take place in London on March 2. All five of the works are being offered with a guarantee. They are coming to market from a private American collection. In a statement, Sotheby’s European chairman and worldwide head of Impressionist and modern art, Helena Newman, said that recent interest in works by Monet “has taken on an even more renewed vigor.” Asian collectors, in particular, have fueled the rise in the artist’s...

Australia is currently suffering the largest rise in Covid-19 cases, hospitalisations and deaths across the country since the pandemic struck in March 2020, despite adopting strict Draconian policies that only allow the vaccinated to participate in society because authorities are wrongly labelling the unvaccinated a danger to public health. But according to official New South Wales Government data, it isn’t the unvaccinated population who are to blame, instead Australia is very much experiencing a pandemic of the vaccinated, with 9 in every 10 cases, and 8 in every 10 hospitalisations and deaths since November 26th 2021 recorded as being among the...

The company behind the biggest cruise operator in Asia has filed for a close of business with the Bermuda Supreme Court. Genting Hong Kong, the company that runs Star Cruises; Crystal Cruises; Dream Cruises; and shipyard MV Werften in Germany, says cash levels are at a point where it will run out by the end of January. News had come out in the last weeks that Genting would default on $2.8 billion on financing arrangements, mainly due to the insolvency of German shipbuilding subsidiary MV Werften. As cash runs out, it could be the end for several cruise lines as...

Ron Johnson invited me to speak at a meeting concerning the pandemic response. Here is a summary of my introductory remarks. Let me know if I missed anything big.Steve Kirsch18 hr ago The pandemic response has been a disaster. Had the NIH simply responded to George Fareed and Bryan Tyson who had developed an effective early treatment protocol for COVID, this pandemic would be a complete non-event. The CDC could have simply advised doctors to prescribe the protocol for anyone with COVID symptoms.Instead, the complete range of early treatment drugs were ignored and even worse, the FDA, AMA, and drug...

When it comes to Western governments and jihadism, willful blindness is never fully cured. While critical of the FBI in a column yesterday, I argued that we should cut the bureau some slack. Its Hostage Rescue Team (HRT) had performed bravely in bringing the Texas synagogue hostage crisis to a successful conclusion. The hostages escaped unharmed. The lone fatality was of Malik Faisal Akram, the British jihadist who had created the lethal risk and who’d been shot under circumstances that suggested his capture alive was unlikely. Americans, particularly Jewish Americans, were justifiably nettled by agent Matthew DeSarno, who heads the...

In case $1M isn't enough to get them to show up in a recorded call, I've asked them to tell me how much I have to offer them to hold them accountable.Steve Kirsch24 hr agoIt’s unfortunate that Congress isn’t holding the government agencies or the outside committees accountable for their actions. So the burden falls on the citizens of the US like me to hold the government accountable.Unfortunately, I lack jurisdiction over them to compel them to answer, so I must rely on incentives. Here’s the email I just sent off to all the members of the FDA and CDC outside...

Republican Rand Paul released an 18-page report on inflation and the impact on small businesses and families across America, many of whom are now struggling after being unemployed, just getting back to work, and being hit by price increases on a wide-variety of items at the store. Unless your wages went up at work, then you're probably wondering where all your money is going, and it's a good bet that inflation price increases are sucking down every red cent you had left. Rand Paul's report suggests that it will only get worse before it gets better. Some key points from...

Academy Award-winning actor Denzel Washington appeared to brush off Hollywood's obsession with diversity in a recent media interview, suggesting the buzzword "shouldn't even be mentioned" when promoting works of art. The legendary movie star took a decidedly more color-blind approach to arts and entertainment than the one espoused by modern progressive "anti-racism" advocates while discussing his new film, “The Tragedy of Macbeth," which is a stripped-down retelling of the Shakespearean classic. “Obviously we are diverse, so I think that’s a great thing,” Washington told NBC BLK, a news segment devoted to the African-American perspective, during a roundtable meeting with other...

A PAC supporting six Navy SEAL combat veterans running for Congress this year released a powerful ad spotlighting their determination to defeat what they have identified as the “one grave threat” left to America: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and the Democrats who control Congress. Highlighting the sacrifices these men made to protect America “from enemies all over the world,” the ad features black-and-white photos of the six American heroes, taken from their days serving in combat zones around the world: Morgan Luttrell (running in Texas’ eighth district), Brady Duke (running in Florida’s seventh district), Eli Crane (running in Arizona’s...

America’s colleges and universities are loaded with professors who insist on teaching students various theories that amount to nothing but fringe opinions and who don’t engage intellectually with those who disagree, but merely try to “cancel” them. There are, however, still some professors who won’t play those games. One of them is Erec Smith, who teaches rhetoric at York College of Pennsylvania. He recently wrote an article for Newsweek, “Black People Who Oppose Critical Race Theory Are Being Erased.” In it, he attacks the methods that are used to ignore and silence blacks (and others) who don’t accept the mainstream...

The Florida Department of Health has placed a top official on administrative leave after he criticised staff over their vaccination rate. In an email on 4 January, Dr Raul Pino called unvaccinated staff members "irresponsible" and wrote "we are not even at 50% - pathetic". Legislation passed in Florida late last year prohibits employers, public and private, from mandating jabs. DOH confirmed on Wednesday the doctor's actions were being investigated.

Pushing past skeptics, Senate Democrats on Wednesday unveiled a new billionaires’ tax proposal, an entirely new entry in the tax code designed to help pay for President Joe Biden’s sweeping domestic policy package and edge his party closer to an overall agreement. The proposed tax would hit the gains of those with more than $1 billion in assets or incomes of more than $100 million a year, and it could begin to shore up the big social services and climate change plan Biden is racing to finish before departing this week for global summits. The new billionaires' proposal, coupled with...

More than 100 millionaires say current tax systems are “not fair” and increasing wealth tax would help resolve inequalities made dramatically worse by the Covid health crisis. Millionaires from around the world have signed an open letter asking governments to tax them at higher rates. The letter was published online Wednesday, mid-way through Davos, the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting being held virtually this year. The signatories of the letter, which was the result of a joint initiative from inequality advocacy groups Patriotic Millionaires, Millionaires for Humanity and TaxMeNow, said current tax systems were “not fair”. While only 100 millionaires...
