Patrick, a Republican, promised to pay $25,000 to any tipster who came forward with evidence of real voter fraud. He cut his first check this week. AUSTIN — Nearly a year after offering up a hefty bounty for evidence of voter fraud in the wake of Donald Trump’s loss, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick has handed out his first reward. But instead of going to an informant who smoked out fraud by Democrats, Patrick’s five-figure payout went to a progressive poll worker in Pennsylvania whose tip led to a single conviction of illegal voting by a registered Republican. A prominent Washington lobbyist close to Kevin McCarthy, the House minority leader, is warning Republican political consultants that they must choose between working for Representative Liz Cheney or Mr. McCarthy, an ultimatum that marks the full rupture between the two House Republicans. Jeff Miller, the lobbyist and a confidant of Mr. McCarthy’s dating to their youthful days in California politics, has conveyed this us-or-her message to Republican strategists in recent weeks, prompting one fund-raising firm to disassociate itself from Ms. Cheney, a Republican from Wyoming. In response, The Morning Group, a fund-raising firm she hired to help prepare for a...

Representatives of three Maryland counties are saying Montani Semper Liberi. Legislators from Allegany, Garrett and Washington counties submitted a letter to West Virginia legislative leaders to explore the possibility of jumping the border. Terrapins are always free. Don’t take this as a land grab or a succession just yet. It’s by no means a done deal. “These three counties in Maryland, we would welcome these counties. This is the first step. It’s early in the process if it even does happen. These counties are more like West Virginia than they are the rest of Maryland,” said West Virginia Delegate Gary...

Duggar, who appeared on the TLC reality show "19 Kids and Counting" with his parents and siblings, was charged with two counts of downloading and possessing child pornography earlier this year. The 33-year-old faces up to 20 years in prison and fines up to $250,000 if convicted on each count. Duggar's attorneys filed a motion to suppress video evidence found on his devices, arguing the case had become "stale" since so much time had passed between...

In Los Angeles County, you can’t walk inside a restaurant or business without wearing a mask. Pulling up to the drive-thru maskless isn’t a violation, but God forbid you walk inside and spread COVID without a face covering or proof of vaccination. Blue states have proudly led the nation in retaining COVID-19 mandates that have been outdated since the latter part of 2020. Meanwhile, Texas boasted the fastest economic recovery in the nation and Florida now leads the nation in lowest per capita COVID rates among all continental U.S. states. Only 12 citizens per 100,000 are getting the illness, per...

Explanation: Blown by fast winds from a hot, massive star, this cosmic bubble is huge. Cataloged as Sharpless 2-308 it lies some 5,000 light-years away toward the constellation of the Big Dog (Canis Major) and covers slightly more of the sky than a Full Moon. That corresponds to a diameter of 60 light-years at its estimated distance. The massive star that created the bubble, a Wolf-Rayet star, is the bright one near the center of the nebula. Wolf-Rayet stars have over 20 times the mass of the Sun and are thought to be in a brief, pre-supernova phase of massive...

As Twitchy reported earlier, some Netflix employees have staged a walkout in protest of comedian Dave Chappelle’s stand-up special, “The Closer,” in which he defends J.K. Rowling and declares himself on “Team TERF.” As Stephen L. Miller reported, one trans activist said they were there to speak about Chappelle’s “master,” who signs his paychecks. He was then escorted away from the protest by a tiny person acting as a human shield and then had a...
