All three of them lost their job, but Pierre-André Udressy wanted to go public and provide some background to his decision. Bishop Luis Argüello, Secretary General of the Spanish Episcopal Conference, said they were “perplexed” over the controversy during a press conference held in Madrid at the end of the meeting of the conference’s leadership. “We have witnessed comments that we think have been made [in response to] a headline, without reading the document. It is not...

Walgreens said Tuesday it will close five stores in San Francisco in November, citing the company’s concerns over retail theft in the city. “Organized retail crime continues to be a challenge facing retailers across San Francisco, and we are not immune to that,” Walgreens spokesperson Phil Caruso said in a statement. Law enforcement officials have attributed much of the city’s retail crime to organized theft rings. But public defenders and social justice advocates have argued that many people charged with retail theft act alone — many of them suffering from poverty, homelessness or substance abuse, and needing rehabilitation or other...

At a recent Virginia rally, Republican gubernatorial candidate Glenn Youngkin talked up his plans to boost the economy and fight crime, and said nothing at all about false claims that Democratic President Joe Biden's election victory was the result of fraud. But some in the crowd heard the message all the same, moments before the former private equity executive's speech, when Republican state Senator Amanda Chase told Youngkin supporters - offstage and without a microphone - that she was on guard against a repeat of election cheating."I know what the Democrats are trying to do," she said in an interview after...

One year ago, The Post revealed that Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop carried proof he sold influence while his father served as vice president — and his dad, now president, knew it. Yet most other media treated the story itself as the scandal, reporting only on vague claims that sought to undermine it rather than rushing (as they would’ve under the last president) to advance it themselves. And Twitter and Facebook rushed to block it, squelching vital information even as America voted. None of them has learned any lesson except that it worked: Big Tech and Big Media got their way,...
