Anyone looking to break the chains of 9-to-5 drone life will find no shortage of inspiration online — tiny homes, side gigs, you name it. Millions of people across the world searching for meaning and work-life balance were inspired by two radical movements in particular — “Lying Flat” and “FIRE.” One took root in China, the other in the United States, but both were born from the same fears, anxieties and hopes.

$GME will allow for many millions of people to see through the FIRE lifestyle.
They should try living somewhere that the opportunities REALLY don't exist. I have been working 10-12 hour days for the last 35 years, and while I wish I didn't have to, I also like sleeping in a warm, quiet bed, taking a hot shower, opening a fridge with food inside, and being able to relax when I can find the time.
Heck. I got up at 0500 this morning, and am just finishing up work now. But I sure as hell don't feel put upon, because the opportunity to work is far, FAR preferable to not working. (and odd hours and weekends are just how it is in my line of work.)
I don't know about Communist China, but if you can't find opportunity to work hard and make a living in the USA, especially TODAY...there is something wrong with you.
I agree.
I am of the opinion that a happy side effect for Leftists is that this COVID crap has made the USA less productive than even the Euroweenies.
These kids are going to be the new “Red Guard” running around with their little red books dragging the productive to the reeducation camps as “capitalist running dogs”.
The youth today are being brainwashed to believe everything in life is is an evl plot by someone else to keep their entitled utopia from them.
Xi in China is all ready moving to tap into this angst to posture as the great savior riding in on his Government horse to “fix it” for them
Louis XV, whose reign preceded the French Revolution, is said to have commented, “Après moi le déluge”: After me, the deluge.
You are in the same position as Louis XV. Once our generation goes, the deluge will fall.
That is a chilling, yet sadly accurate analysis. There is yet hope, we may yet escape that, but...I do fear, as you said in post right before it...
"Après moi le déluge"
LOL, I saw that this thread didn’t get many responses...
I think a lot of people had the exact same reaction I did when they saw the intro...I had no idea what the “Lying Flat” or “FIRE movement” were, and I was loathe to click on the link and find out...
I eventually DID click the link and made heads and tails of what on earth this was about, but...knowing the mindset of many Freepers as I think I do, I gather a lot of them just said: “Nope. Not clicking it.”
I read it, and just felt like I wanted to line them all up for a kick in the ass. (the people the article referenced)
Those snowflakes are going to find out for sure what is really, REALLY bad when this planet gets into a world-wide depression, and anarchy, starvation, tyranny, and violence rule the day EVERYWHERE including the ground under their spoiled feet.
Their damned precious smart phones they 100% take for granted while they bitch and moan about evil corporations won’t even be able to check their daily social score changes...there won’t be an operating Internet except for the inner party types.
