Alleged comedian and actress Sarah Silverman has a complaint to make: what’s with all of the actors doing acting? Don’t they know that the only part you’re allowed to play is yourself? On her podcast, Silverman complained, “There’s this long tradition of non-Jews playing Jews, and not just playing people who happen to be Jewish but people whose Jewishness is their whole being. . . . One could argue, for instance, that a Gentile playing Joan Rivers correctly would be doing what is actually called ‘Jewface.’ ” One could argue that, but only if one had the I.Q. of the...

How does Congress cut a $3.5 trillion spending bill down to $1.5 trillion? By using gimmicks to hide its true cost. That is the approach that congressional Democrats are brazenly employing to make their spending bonanza appear smaller than it is. Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.) openly discussed their use of budget gimmicks over the weekend when she told CNN that “our idea now is to look at how you make them funded for a little bit of a shorter time.” Progressives have been abusing these gimmicks from the start. They began with a reconciliation proposal that would cost nearly $5...

News AnalysisChina’s economy has had a rough summer, hit first by a rise in COVID-19 infections, then by the impending bankruptcy of the giant real estate developer Evergrande, and now by severe power shortages throughout the country. The coming months might bring relief on the COVID-19 front, but though the authorities are scrambling, the other two problems will linger and are more likely to get worse before they get better. Most statistics—official and unofficial—testify to these economic difficulties. Beijing’s monthly index of manufacturing activity sank in September to 49.6 from a reading of 50.1 in August. Any figure below 50 indicates a...

It is well known that obesity affects the body's insulin production and over time risks leading to type 2 diabetes and several other metabolic diseases. Now researchers have found further explanation for why fat cells cause metabolic morbidity. Many metabolic diseases, among them type 2 diabetes, are strongly associated with obesity. In order to reverse the trend, more knowledge is needed, among other things, about how fat cells (adipocytes) contribute to various harmful processes in tissues and organs. When fat cells are enlarged, they begin to secrete factors that cause inflammation of the adipose tissue. Fat cell enlargement is also...

Purchases of PCR tests in China's Hubei Province surged months before the first official reports of a novel coronavirus case there, according to a report by Australia-based cybersecurity company Internet 2.0. About 67.4 million yuan ($10.5 million at current rates) was spent on PCR tests in Hubei during 2019, nearly double the 2018 total, with the upswing starting in May, according to the report. Internet 2.0 collected and analyzed data from a website that aggregates information on public procurement bids in China. The analysis team consists of former officials from intelligence agencies in the U.S., the U.K., Australia, and other...

A new genetic analysis may have finally revealed the origin of the Etruscans — a mysterious people whose civilization thrived in Italy centuries before the founding of Rome. It turns out the enigmatic Etruscans were local to the area, with nearly identical genetics to their Latin-speaking neighbors This finding contradicts earlier theories that the Etruscans — who for centuries spoke a now extinct, non-Indo-European language that was remarkably different from others in the region — came from somewhere different from their Latin-speaking neighbors. Instead, both groups appear to be migrants from the Pontic-Caspian steppe — a long, thin swath of...

As scientists continue to study the solar system, they are still trying to understand not only how the planets came to exist but why they occupy their current orbits. In this new effort, the authors note that simulations of the evolution of the solar system are not yet able to explain the current configuration due to missing information. And they suspect that the missing information involves a planet that once circled the sun in the outer solar system (where the gas giants, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune reside) but now exists out beyond the edges of the solar system or...

The VAERS database has reports of 722,534 adverse reactions to COVID vaccines through 9/24/2021. What could be more fun to do on a Saturday night than bust out an R terminal and see what we can test against this data? The first thing I wanted to look into was the theory that Myocarditis cases could be explained by an errant vaccination where the needle hits a blood vessel. This should be an independent event occuring with equal likelihood in dose 1 or dose 2 of a series. This is easily disproven as happening far more often in dose 2 of...

Chinese property developer Fantasia Holdings failed to repay a $206 million bond payment due Monday, said the company, just two weeks after it said it had no liquidity issues. The missed payment adds to the already immense strain on China's real estate sector, which has been left exposed to the $305 billion credit crunch from property giant Evergrande, the most indebted company in the world. Fantasia is worth $415 million, reported Reuters, a drop in the ocean compared to Evergrande's crisis. But its bond default contributes to fears that an imminent major collapse in China's property market could destabilize the...

Top Vatican cardinal says Biden should not be denied CommunionCardinal Turkson says denying the sacrament should only take place in "extreme cases"ROME — U.S. President Joe Biden should not be denied Communion, said Cardinal Peter Turkson, warning that the denial of the sacrament should only take place in "extreme cases.""The Eucharist should not in any way become a weapon," Turkson said in an interview with AXIOS on HBO, which aired Oct. 3. "If you say somebody cannot receive Communion, you are basically doing a judgment that you are in a state of sin."When asked directly by journalist Mike Allen if...

Patients with psoriasis have reported that glycerin, an inexpensive, harmless, slightly sweet liquid high on the list of ingredients in many skin lotions, is effective at combatting their psoriasis and now scientists have objective evidence to support their reports. They found that whether applied topically or ingested in drinking water, glycerin, or glycerol, helps calm the classic scaly, red, raised and itchy patches in their psoriasis model. The studies also provide more evidence of the different ways glycerin enables the healthy maturation of skin cells through four stages that result in a smooth, protective skin layer. Psoriasis is an immune-mediated...

Not long ago, firearm instructor Karl Rehn of KR Training and I discussed why some people attend defensive firearm classes for little reason beyond recreation. In addition to having taught thousands of students, Karl’s an engineer, thus analytical by nature, and he hit the nail on the head. He said people do what they want or need to do, and while many gun owners want to shoot guns for fun, most don’t think they’ll need to defend themselves, so they don’t take defensive training seriously.I’ve also heard conservatives say they don’t have time to train, because they have jobs and...

To get the government to close the border once and for all, we must think and act like the NWO folks. It will require us to start a steady stream of white Russian Christians headed to the Del Rio and other crossings from Mexico into the U.S. I would like to see 400, 000 headed our way with entire family units claiming asylum. We need to employ NGO and other charitable organizations to assist us in this effort. Catholic Charities and LIRS come to mind.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology canceled a lecture by geophysicist Dorian Abbot amid criticism of his views on campus diversity efforts. In the opinion piece, Abbot and professor Ivan Marinovic criticized diversity, equity and inclusion standards as "treating people as members of a group rather than as individuals, repeating the mistake that made possible the atrocities of the 20th century." "It treats persons as merely means to an end, giving primacy to a statistic over the individuality of a human being," they wrote in the opinion piece. His position over college diversity efforts sparked pushback from many academics on social media...
