On Friday, Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds (R) slammed President Biden’s address targeting states that banned mask mandates, describing his efforts as “unconscionable.” In an interview with “Fox & Friends,” Reynolds fired back at President Biden’s statements during his recent address where he attacked U.S. governors, like Reynolds, who’ve pushed back on mask mandates in schools ahead of the upcoming school year. “Everything that this guy has going on, disaster at the border, disaster in Afghanistan, I think he should focus on doing his job and getting Americans out of Afghanistan and I’ll do mine,” Reynolds said in the segment. As...

New York City’s “Homecoming” concert at Central Park was abruptly halted in the middle of Barry Manilow’s performance Saturday evening — as lightning storms tied to approaching Hurricane Henri descended on the Big Apple. Concertgoers were told at 7:37 p.m. to “proceed to your vehicles and protected areas outside of the event center” as Manilow was singing his 1978 hit “Can’t Smile Without You.”

“This Is a Hard Saying” (John 6:60-69) For the last couple of weeks, the Holy Gospel has been Jesus’ famous “Bread of Life” discourse from John chapter 6. And last week I preached on the appointed text, under the theme, “Eat This Bread and Live Forever.” But last week I only got through the first half of that text. What I didn’t get to was the reaction to what Jesus said. And that’s what I want to take up this morning. And so our sermon text today is what is printed in your bulletin, namely, John 6, verses 60 through...

Pray For the Peace of JerusalemPsalm 142[a] A maskil[b] of David. When he was in the cave. A prayer. 1 I cry aloud to the Lord; I lift up my voice to the Lord for mercy. 2 I pour out before him my complaint; before him I tell my trouble. 3 When my spirit grows faint within me, it is you who watch over my way. In the path where I walk people have hidden a snare for me. 4 Look and see, there is no one at my right hand; no one is concerned for me. I have no...

AS a soldier runs from the battlefield, he's spotted by a suicide drone loitering in the sky overhead. The killing machine dives down on its target and explodes in a kamikaze attack – without anyone telling it to. t might sound like the stuff of science fiction but killer robots, sometimes called "slaughterbots", are already a reality. Last year, STM Kargu-2 drones hunted down targets in what might be the first instance of artificial intelligence killing on its own initiative. The revelation came after years of experts warning about the dangers of letting machines decide who lives and dies in...

Some progressives are cheering on an Alabama doctor who said going forward he will refuse to treat patients who aren’t vaccinated against COVID-19. Dr. Jason Valentine, a physician at Mobile’s Diagnostic and Medical Clinic Infirmary Health, recently shared he will no longer see patients who aren’t vaccinated against the coronavirus beginning Oct. 1. I have been reading about the cluster-foxtrot that Biden has allowed in Afghanistan and that the government is considering requesting that commercial airliners be pressed into service to rescue trapped US citizens and I thought to myself, what would be a better way to show how to lead than for Trump to send his personal jet to Kabul to rescue a planeload of Americans? He could have the crew shuttle them to a safe airport and go back after a couple of loads. What do Freepers think of this idea?

BE KIND TO STRANGERS Do not forget or neglect or refuse to extend hospitality to strangers [in the brotherhood — being friendly, cordial, and gracious, sharing the comforts of your home and doing your part generously], for through it some have entertained angels without knowing it. — Hebrews 13:2 A clique is an exclusive group, one to which not everyone is welcome. Being "in" makes us feel important, but being "out" can be very painful. I find that even the church is full of cliques. As believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, you and I are instructed in the...

Less than three months ago, the Centers for Disease Control published a mostly-ignored, large-scale study of Covid-19 transmission in US schools which concluded that while masking then-unvaccinated teachers and improving ventilation was associated with lower levels of virus transmission in schools – social distancing, classroom barriers, HEPA filters, and forcing students to wear masks did not result in a statistically significant benefit. “That a masking requirement of students failed to show independent benefit is a finding of consequence and great interest,” according to Vinay Prasad, an associate professor in University of California, San Francisco’s Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. “It...

Phil was a great radio host. He originally expressed concern about the vaccines, but toward the end regretted that he was not more explicitly pro-vax. Unfortunately he tried a bunch of the stuff that doesn't work (Ivermectin, Vitamin D, etc.) which . . . didn't work. Phil Valentine was 61 years old.
